Walt's Radiator and Muffler shop is about as good as it gets. Conveniently located in downtown Lexington; an easy route from all the main highways. I have taken all of my Challengers and Durangos there over the past few years and they have done quality, reasonably priced custom exhaust work for me. They sell Borla, Flowmaster and Magnaflow mufflers too so they are able to create a custom exhaust for you right there on the spot. Essentially whatever configuration you can dream up, these guys can make happen! Great service, very friendly employees and prompt turnaround time; same day (usually) if you bring your vehicle in early right when they open! Will happily continue bringing my vehicles to Walts! Called about ac in my fiat, they answered the phone right away, very professional. Livin' up to their fine reputation! It is understandable that by the end of the usual M-F workweek that this staff is "exhausted", so they no longer are available Saturdays! Nonetheless, if you can get your vehicle to them from 7:30 am till close M-F they will work with you to get you great service at a reasonable price. Took my low-mileage 2001 Nissan Frontier truck in the morning of Tuesday, April 5th. They verified there were no A/C leaks, but a failing pulley bearing and low coolant; they replaced the pulley, recharged the coolant and replaced the failing catalytic converter, muffler and exhaust pipe in under 90 minutes for a very reasonable amount and I was on my way with plenty of time for lunch and to get to work in the afternoon! read more

Took my daughters car in to get a check engine light read and to make an appointment to get the vehicle repaired. They took the liberty to fix the vehicle to the tune of $214 for a $50 part. They never asked me if I wanted to go ahead and get it fixed, they just assumed I was the one paying for it. There is absolutely no way labor should have been $150. Since they did the work I had to pay to leave. Never fix a car without consent! Oh, and never expect these people to be in a good mood. read more

Amazed at how fast they jumped on the issue with my car. As soon as I pulled in the lot 3 employees started looking under the hood. They fixed my coolant leak and repaired my AC less than a day. Hopefully the problem is resolved for good. Pricing seemed fair. read more

My daughter went there to get her timing belt and water pump replaced per scheduled maintenance. After she got her vehicle back she had to drive to Gastonia where her accessory belt came loose and started squealing. She almost lost control as the steering wheel became very stiff and hard to control. I had to drive all the way down there to see if I could find the issue. When I got there and opened the hood I saw little gobs of rubber sealant everywhere and then noticed it oozing out about a quarter inch from the new water pump. My heart sank as I knew the type of work that was probably done. Sure enough the belt tension pulley lock nut was left loose and the belt came loose. I tightened these items and we drove home. On the way home I noticed the temp gauge stayed on cold so that wasn't working either. Now that its light outside I went to check out what the issue may be and notice the temp sensor sending unit plug was left off. I also noticed: The intake vacuum lines were barely on the housing and the clamps not put back into position, the air intake hose was complete loose and dangling by the one bolt holding against the radiator, sanding pads and spilled anti-freeze down on the pan guard, and the coolant was a half gallon low. I called and asked for the owner and after some run around the guy who answered the phone went and got him. He answered the phone "What do you need bossman??" After telling him about my issues and he did apologize but insisted that everything was checked before it left the shop. The customer is always wrong mentality. I asked about the sanding discs and he informed me they use them to grind the old gaskets off the water pump surface. After a long debate he insisted that all shops grind off the old gasket then use permatex sealant to put the new water pump in place. I would not recommend using them. read more
