If it's not something he does he'll tell you and usually knows someone to refer you to. Many City Cops and Firemen come here as their go-to shop. I was hopeful but would have understood if he had said no. He laughed when I told him what I had, saying that not many of those came around to his shop, but said that he would definitely have me come in. Scheduled an appointment and everything, 8am the following Wednesday. My normal mechanic for this truck is in Raleigh, so I was happy to be able to get the oil changed in Greensboro. Showed up this morning at 8am (the time of my appointment) with my truck, and Robert comes out looking at me as if he has no idea what anyone is doing there. I explain to him that I had an appointment, and he says "I dont care if you had an appointment or not. I dont work on anything older than a '97 (if I remember correctly) and I'm definitely not going to stop what I'm doing to work on THAT." I tried to tell him again: "but over the phone you told me tht you could change the oil, all you need is a little time and grease gun, you scheduled me an appointment, I took time out of my day for this." to which he said: "Well, I lied to you." You may have more luck with this guy with a newer car. But dont ever expect him to hold his appointments or tell the truth about what he can and can't do.

He closes at noon on Fridays and it was nearing 11:00. He said he would wait for me to check it out. I had my grown son stay in my car, with it running, and went into my appointment. After, I called Preston and told him I was on my way. I arrived just before noon...we thankfully were able to duplicate the car not starting. We decided I would leave my car there over the weekend and he should have the new starter installed by Monday. I was fine without having a car for the weekend. My Dad picked me up from Preston's and I went home back to work....Preston texted me a few hours later saying he went to pick up my starter from Honda, installed it and was ready for me to pick it up. This kind, thoughtful man, said he didn't want me to not have a car over the weekend. He decided to take care if it early. I said I would not be able to come get it until close to 5 and he said it was fine. I got another ride back to him just before 5, and told this amazing man, how thankful I was and appreciated him. This is one of my favorite shops, and even though I may not live as close anymore. I still would bring my car here with no hesitation. I've even had my car towed 90+ miles to get it here over another random shop. They are a little lite on the counter which runs into some communication lapse occasionally but I want my car worked on well, not quick and rushed. They have never hesitated to bring out the malfunctioning part and walk me through how it failed in the system.
