Our wedding day photographer Wally absolutely knocked it out of the park for us. My wife and I looked through a couple dozen portfolios to try and find a photographer with a style that we both loved and Wally's work easily stood out as a cut above the other options, while still being at a very reasonable price point. After meeting him down the line, we quickly learned that Wally had a fantastic personality as well... personable, funny and professional. Wally had a ton of good advice for us after hearing a bit about how we wanted to structure our wedding day--we took most of our solo pictures before the ceremony on his advice and it gave us more time to actually ENJOY the wedding. Wally was efficient while still being artistic and captured some awesome shots for us, giving us tips throughout on how to pose, where to look, where to put our hands... real life model stuff haha. It ended up raining briefly which actually created the opportunity for Wally to show his expertise in a big way - he recommended that we try to fit some beach shots in as the sun set since conditions are prime right after a rain like that, and the pictures we ended up with were absolutely stunning and far and away some of our favorites from the day... going to be up on the wall in our family home for many decades to come. Highly recommend Wally's work, particularly if you like fun and spontaneous action shots, as myself and my wife both thought that capturing these moments was one of Wally's biggest strengths. read more

Wally was seriously the best decision we made in our wedding process. We first hired him to capture our engagement photos and used that as a "test" to decide if we wanted to hire him to capture our wedding and we knew pretty quickly in our engagement session that we did. He was responsive, professional, and helpful throughout the whole process, engagement to wedding. He is so fun to be around, is incredibly talented at what he does and has wonderful suggestions to capture the best photos. His work honestly speaks for itself. Every vendor that we spoke with who has worked with him highly recommended him too. We were so happy with all of our photos and couldn't recommend him enough, so if you are on the fence about who to hire to capture your wedding photos, don't cheat yourself and book Wally now. He was worth every penny and more. read more

Wally was our wedding photograpger. We liked him right away on our first call because he sounded like a lot of fun and it didnturn out that he is super easy and nice to work with. We met him in person a month before our wedding to have some engagement photoshoot, which was a lovely time. We asked him for some location advice for the photoshoot. Since our wedding is going to be by the beach, we decided to go to the Laguna Mountain area for the engagement shoot. We decided to meet in the parking lot and he would drive us up the mountain to a few spots that he was very familiar with. We were late due to the traffic but he was very patient with us and still managed to capture the perfect sunset. On the wedding day, Wally and Edward worked very well with our videographers and captured our day perfectly. I personally prefer candid photos than posed ones but we got tons of great photos of both categories. Our fast swing dance moves were captured well too. All our guests love the photos too! We cannot say enough good things about Wally and his service. Highly recommend him! read more

Wally was simply amazing! Before the wedding, he was very helpful in planning and figuring out what shots we would need. He was always available either via phone or email, which was very helpful as we approached the date. On the day of the wedding, working with him and his partner was so fun! He was very natural and positive when helping us take photos and kindly helped us pose when we didn't know what to do. He was also very flexible as schedules shifted the day of. He was such a joy to work with, and his work speaks for itself! We couldn't be happier with these photos that will last a lifetime! read more

My wife and I first met Wally through our wedding planner Amy from First Comes Love. Aside from his incredible work that he showed us we knew he was a great fit for us based on personality. Our first experience with Wally was during our engagement shoot. My wife and I are are by no means professional instagram models so it was nice having a photographer who would explain different poses and where to look etc. We had several different events planned around the wedding spanning 3 days. Wally's colleague Edward was our photographer for a rehearsal sail, welcome dinner, and secondary photographer for the wedding. Edward was able to capture so many great moments it was as if he was always in 3 places at once. By the time Saturday came around we had gotten to know Edward very well and can't say enough about his work and his character. During the wedding day Wally was primarily in charge of the women and Edward dealt with us guys as we got ready. It seems as though any photographer can capture the main events but these guys captured every detail of our big day, big or small. Thank you SO much Wally and Edward for capturing these moments that we will never forget. We HIGHLY recommend Walter Wilson Studios, Inc for your wedding! read more

Wow! I hired Walter to photograph my wedding at the El Cortez on 9/1/13 and it was one of the best decisions I have made! Walter is not only extremely talented, but a dedicated, crazy, hard worker as well! Walter picked a perfect spot at Presidio Park to take our first look photos, and he knew how to arrange us (my hair, my husband's suit) so we looked our absolute best! During our ceremony, Walter was everywhere obscure, including in the bushes, taking all the right shots at the right times. During our sunset photos in front of the El Cortez, he lay on the asphalt to capture the whole building. If this isn't dedication, I don't know what is! His candid shots of the reception took me back to the amazing time I had doing our first dance and later, being spun around by my husband. Walter is also very personable and easy to establish a good rapport with. He is reliable, trustworthy, and timely as well as easy going. So far, I am thrilled with the photos he has ALREADY posted on his blog! I can not wait for more! Fabulous job, Walter, and thanks for a truly fantastic day! read more

THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!! We were just married on Friday (today is Sunday) and I couldn't wait to share my happiness and excitement about Walter!!! He is amazing. He has gone above and beyond anything we could have ever asked for. He is not only so talented, but he is professional, gentle, kind and has such a great heart!! Just a few months before our wedding we had to put our beloved pup Tru down and he was able to capture that moment and incorporate that into an amazing memory for us! On our wedding day, he showed up early, professional, excited, and with so much passion for his trade. I can not recommend him more. We will continue to use Walter for Christmas cards, maternity, etc photos from here on out. You can only be so lucky to have him capture your memories!!! Thanks for everything Walter! Wally was just the absolute best wedding photographer my husband and I could have ever chosen. We are so grateful that he was recommended to us by our wedding planner. My husband and I are more on the shyer side and aren't always the most comfortable being photographed. Wally made us both feel comfortable and at ease during both our engagement photo session and for all the wedding pictures. They all turned out great and exactly what we were hoping for. Our wedding parties, families and guests all really liked Wally and his associate as well. He was definitely cracking me and my bridesmaids up while we were getting ready. Since we were running late getting to the venue for the first look photos he offered to drive my maid of honor and I to the venue in his car which saved us a lot of time and got me to my handsome groom faster :) He's always very responsive to emails and calls. Our main thing was that we didn't want to have a lot of corny, staged pictures and we wanted a lot of candid shots of all of our guests having a good time. He more than delivered on that and we couldn't be happier. I highly recommend choosing Walter Wilson Studios to capture the moments of any special event. read more

Walter was a great photographer, we loved having him capture our wedding day last year. He's a fun, easy going guy that you'd probably have a great time with at a social gathering...he kinda felt like he melded right in with our guests, but captured all the moments in the wedding and reception. Definitely super experienced. What we found most important is he really wasted no time on the big day. He had a mental game plan of exactly who needed to go where, stand where, etc and we got through those requisite group pics and family pics expediently-and they were great when we got them back! We were really glad to have great shots, but also glad to have missed as little as possible while taking pictures. I'd describe his photo style as more photo journalist-less etherial, light bathed, instagram filter-ish. This is perfect for the dance floor (which was super big for us). However when we met with him before he was definitely willing to do anything we had in mind. Thanks (many month later) Walter! :) read more

If you ever find yourself on the other side of Walters camera lens, please consider it truly a blessing! Not only is he extremely professional & passionate about his work, but also very fun to work with!! Walter was our wedding photographer over the weekend and by far exceeded our expectations! We know this because we have already been given a preview of our wedding photos and they are AMAZING!! I don't know of anyone else who receives their wedding photos two days after their wedding but Walter definitely delivers! The photos turned out beautiful and I still can't get over all of the candid shots he was able to capture. There are only a few photos that are actually planned but other then that, he was able to capture the true feelings and emotions during our wedding. That is what is the best part! Anyone can smile for a camera, but Walter caught the true happiness and excitement everyone was experiencing during our special day! Walter was destined to do this line of work as he has an eye for it! From the phenomenal lighting to the unimaginable angles he was able to capture, the final product is superb! I still can not believe some of the shots he was able to capture! I want to thank you Wally for EVERYTHING you did! I will never forget this day as you were able to capture every second of it... Walter Wilson Studios, Inc - We are so lucky to have such amazing photos of our wedding such as this one!! - Session Photography Near Me - San Diego, California

I don't even know where to begin. Wally (Walter) is hands down the most amazing photographer I have ever met! My husband and I first met him when he was shooting one of our best friend's wedding. He was all up in the action getting all of those amazing moments, hilarious drinking pictures, and of course the dance party! We ended up seeing Wally in action at 4 of our other friend's weddings, so by that time, I 110% knew I was going to contact him for our wedding. I got to experience his work first hand, and I without a doubt didn't want anyone else to be our photographer. Wally is extremely professional, super sweet, and fun to hang out with! He makes it easy to go with the flow and just be goofy - hence the great moments in pictures! Our engagement pictures were breathtaking. Our session was Hotel Del and it was just beautiful. Wally was extremely patient with me, because of course I wanted to change my outfit 3 times! The sunset came out perfectly in every single of our pictures and the quality is just amazing. Not to mention it was such a fun session!! I could go on and on about our wedding pictures. Every.single.photo blew us away. BEYOND what we were expecting. He caught so many beautiful moments that I actually teared looking at a few. Every time I look at our photos, I feel like I'm reliving our day all over again. He captured all of my favorite moments on that day and I just can't thank him enough for that. Wally - You're an incredible photographer!! We HIGHLY recommend Walter Wilson Studios. There are no words to describe the incredible quality of Walter's work. He went above and beyond for our day and the emotion and joy shines through in every single one of our photos. We live in Tacoma Washington and had a destination wedding in San Diego. That got tricky with logistics and Wally was so helpful and accommodating. He won't miss a second of your special day- he captures it all. Everyone who looks at our photos says that they radiate happiness. Wally was also one of the only vendors who didn't hound us to write a review immediately after our wedding day. I was getting emails/texts daily on our honeymoon to write reviews for other vendors and it was SO refreshing to NOT have this from Wally. Don't think twice- choose him for your photographer!!! Top 9 reasons Walter Wilson is the best photographer and why you shouldn't wait a second longer to call him and see if he's available for your wedding or event. 1. ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY. Wally's photos speak for themselves. They capture emotion, are artistically crafted. They aren't the boring, pose and snap shots that anyone can take. His photographs will transport you back to every memory and emotion you felt at that moment. And they aren't cheesy. If you're looking for photos holding a chalkboard and some writing or silly poses with props - Wally's not your guy. But if you have an appreciation for journalistic phototypography that looks like art on your walls - call him now. 2. GOOD HUMAN BEING: Wally is an exceptionally kind person and someone you want to be there on your most intimate and special day for you and your family. My family fell in love with Wally. 3. GIVES DIRECTION: Professional photography is not meant for shy, passive people. You want to make a living of it, you have to be personal and you can't be afraid to tell people to change poses, fix their hair, fix their look, turn this way. And you have to be able to move fast. That's what Wally does. 4. GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND - helping with boutonnieres, extras, flexible. Carries a pocket knife on him with a full belt of needs. He's more prepped than most wedding planners are. 5. NO WATERMARKS. HELLO! In today's day and age with social media replacing the photo albums we grew up with - I think it's the most obnoxious thing in the world when photographers watermark every single photo. You paid for them. You paid for the service and the photos, but they aren't actually yours?? This is absurd. Wally is the only photographer I have ever met and worked with (I am in marketing) who has zero ego, is not self-serving and isn't asking you to promote him. You know why? Because his business is incredible and it speaks for itself. And guess what - because of that attitude it compels you to write a top ten list about him and post it on every review site. 6. RELIABLE: Showed up early for our first meeting, showed up early to every other meeting, and even came early for the wedding to set up. 7. TIMELY: I found Wally on Yelp- at the time I think we was rated one of the top 5. I messaged about 3 or 4 of the top rated photographers. Wally got back to me the fastest and the WARMEST. One of the photographers made you fill out a form and answer a bunch of questions about who you are and what you're like. Because "they are so popular and only choose a few weddings a year so they like to make sure it's a good match." Then when they finally got back to me way after I had my first phone call with Wally - I told them no thanks and then they were shocked and wanted to know why. Are you serious? 8. HIRES GREAT ASSISTANTS: Wally's team has the same standards in photography and professionalism that he does. 9. OTHER VENDORS LOVE HIM. When I told my DJ, wedding planner and officaint. They all immediately knew who he was and were ecstatic that I hired him. read more

There aren't enough great things to say about Wally.... From the moment we first met with him, we had a feeling that we had met our wedding photographer. Warm, genuine, and just down to have a great time and capture the best moments of our big day. Wally walked us through the whole process making us feel confident and worry-free on our wedding day. He and Edward hustled like crazy to capture the day from top to bottom, and just felt like an extension of our guests, having fun with everyone and getting in the mix. We just got our photos back, and couldn't be happier. My wife and I were super nervous, as we're more "behind the camera" people, and didn't want to come off self conscious or posed in our photos. We shouldn't have ever been worried knowing that we were in Wally's hands. We came away with photos that were better than anything we could have ever hoped for! I can't recommend Walter Wilson Studios enough. If you need a Wedding Photographer, no matter where you are in the world, you're a fool to not hire Wally! read more

We met Wally by walking our bulldog in our neighborhood. Wally has a bulldog too, so we hit it off instantly! We later learned that Wally was a photographer, 2 months later we were engaged, and 1 week later we hired him as our wedding photographer. Walter is SO talented and truly knows what he's doing. We took our engagement photos in October and they were absolutely stunning. We had so many people told us they were the best engagement photos they had ever seen. He was very flexible with the location we chose and prompt with communication. Not only is he great at taking pictures, but he is great at making you feel comfortable and coaching you on how to pose/ what will make your body type look best. When it was getting close to our wedding date, he told us it would be a good idea to meet and go over our timeline. He let us know that the way our timeline was set up, we would only have 1 hour for dancing at the end of our wedding. This was NOT what we wanted, and with his help, we adjusted the timeline and we were able to change that to 3 hours of dancing (which was obviously the best part of the night). He is a professional and has worked so many weddings, he knows what works and what doesn't, and we truly appreciated his advice and insight. He was great getting the family pictures done efficiently and stress-free, and was right in the middle of the party getting the fun and crazy shots through the end. it was the BEST decision to hire Wally for our wedding photography, I would recommend him to anyone I know getting married. read more

I'm not even sure where to begin.... how about... HE's AMAZING... HIS WORK IS PHENOMENAL. ...about 2 months of being engaged I set out for the big search of Photographer for my wedding in March of 2014. I searched... I yelped...I asked friends and family.... I researched and researched.... and after about a good month of emails and re-looking at different websites.... I ran across Walter Wilson Studios. I think I emailed an Inquiry at like 1am..... the next day, there was already a reply. My now husband and I met with Walter at a local coffee shop (he was totally flexible with my late work night schedule and was able to meet us just about anywhere) We both Fell in Love with not only his work... but him as well.... Dugg his personality and when we left that first meeting, we both turned to each other and said we felt totally comfortable with him and felt like we had known him forever. ( I know this is important when you have someone shooting the biggest moments of your life) Fast forward about 6 months, Wally photographed our engagement session, which was awesome! I had asked if he was able to meet us at one of our date spots a local gastropub... (which he actually got some of my favorite engagement photos at that pub) March 7, 2014 was our wedding day. (which was amazing) Walter and his assistant Heather were Awesome, working alongside my Videographers, which I think they had never worked together, but I would have never been able to guess that. He supported me with random things like a utility tool to cut the Price Tags off of my Wedding Dress (random that I still had tags on my things) and getting down on the floor to get an amazing shot, even walking us through how to do the Cake Cutting!! (We had no idea) That night, a couple of sneak peaks were up on FB..... which is something I really appreciate!! A few days later, tons of photos were up on his Blog....Which is something I think all Brides...and family... appreciate!! I can't wait for Walter to photograph something in our future! (side note) I called him for random things throughout the year engagement before the wedding... always returned a phone call, or picked up on first ring... SO SO IMPORTANT! When planning a wedding so many things can get compromised..... don't let it be your Wedding photography..... There were other photographers I had looked at... before We met with Walter.... After seeing his work.... I couldn't go with anyone else... I'm so thankful for that decision! Cheers! read more

I haven't even seen the pictures from my sisters wedding and I am giving Walter 5 stars. I truly believe that photography (especially wedding photography) is one of those industries where people think "anyone" who owns a camera can do it and that its such easy work for good money and seriously that is so NOT true. Walter seriously commanded the room. He took charge and was able to jam through photo after photo (the family sessions can be soooo tedious) without ever missing a beat. He came properly staffed and had all the bells and whistles - equipment wise. He was able to make hard decisions about whether to do photos indoors or outdoors because of lighting and completely removed all unnecessary-decision-making from the Bride and Groom (which I know my sister immensely appreciated). He wasn't just a photographer. He was a hairstylist, a make-up artist and a plastic surgeon all-in-one. How? Well he made sure all of our hair was in place, our make-up wasn't smudged and our bodies were positioned to allow for maximum "skinny potential?"!! haha He seriously knows what he is doing. He doesn't just point and shoot and hope for the best. He sets up every image to be perfect. I mean think about it.... do you want 2000 images from a photographer and hope to get a money shoot here and there. Or would you rather have 600 perfect images all clicked with the utmost thought and careful consideration? Walter you were exquisite!!! read more

First impression of Wally was that he's super friendly and instantly makes you feel comfortable. He brought a lot of sample work to our initial meeting (loved) and with his affordable pricing, we booked him the next day for engagement and wedding pictures. Mike (hubs) and I are not comfortable in front of a camera but Wally was so easy to work with, and he really knows how to use his surrounds to create beautiful shots regardless. We loved all of our e-pix. Our big day was 9/21/13 at Loews in Coronado. Wally arrived on time with his second shooter, Jeff, and they got straight to work. He works his butt off, he's super efficient and quick which really helps with timing. We did a first look and all of our pictures pre-ceremony in under 2.5 hours - plenty of time to spare to freshen up before the ceremony started. Wally is probably part ninja because I barely noticed him during the ceremony and reception. We were able to take some extended family photos during cocktail hour and a few sunset photos, but it never felt like we were gone from our wedding festivities for too long. Throughout the entire evening, Wally reminded me of pictures I wanted to take per the shot list I had sent him - this was awesome because my brain was all over the place and it was nice to not have to worry about whether I was getting all the shots I wanted. He even posted a few teaser photos on his blog within a week of our wedding. They were beautiful! I can't forget to comment on Jeff too - he was incredibly nice and helpful. Even our moms mentioned how friendly he was! Can't wait to see his work! Basically: Wally's friendly, very professional, organized and takes incredible photos. He works really hard to make sure he's capturing the day the way you want to see it captured. His keen eye also captures the beautiful moments you didn't expect to see. Thanks Wally! read more

We heard about Walter Wilson Studios from a co-worker who said "If I were to get married again, I would have them shoot my wedding." That's all we needed to know! I would just like to echo what everyone else is saying about Walter Wilson Studios. Wally is the best. He will make you and your bride/groom look like freaking rock stars. He is a pro at finding good shooting locations. We pulled over on the side of the highway to shoot at a small grove of trees for an engagement session. When we got the photos, they looked like we were shooting at a beautiful meadow on the edge of the forest. He is great at directing you for good shots and especially at making you feel comfortable. You want to look natural in your photos and Wally brings that out in you. Even if you're uncomfortable in front of the camera, you will be surprised at the genuine expressions he will capture. Aside from his talent, he is very thorough and fair on the business end. He'll give you a sheet of good information pre-shoot so that you can be the most prepared. You'll find him very accomodating to almost any request and I guarantee it will be money well spent. I'm so thankful to him for capturing such beautiful shots of my bride and I. read more

After doing a lot of online research (including Yelp reviews) and going through Walter's website and blog, I knew Walter Wilson Studios would be the perfect fit for our engagement photos. I emaield him regarding pricing and availability and he responded to me the next day. Leading up to our engagement portrait session, he was extremely quick to respond and professional. He also emailed me a 3-4 page document outling some tips and advice to make the day go smoothly - I thought this was extremely helpful. I was also very impressed with his knowledge of the area and was able to help us choose both a "country" setting and a "beach" setting that fit our personalities and tastes. The session lasted about 2 hours and Wally was so helpful and nice leading us through different poses and making us feel comfortable.... we are certainly not models! Once we were done, it only took about 4 days to get 175+ beautiful images back. We were so happy, we would certainly use him for our wedding in 2014 but unfortunately he's already booked another wedding. Overall, I took a risk and it 100% paid off... Walter made us feel very comfortable during our engagement shoot and before we knew it everything came pretty natural! We couldn't have been happier with our experience with Walter! From start to finish, he is better than we could have ever hoped for. First, we did an engagement shoot. Walter gave us a glimpse into his incredible work ethic, his sparkling personality and his amazing talent. He so quickly and effortlessly got us into our comfort zone. We were all cracking up, connecting AND creating memorable photos. He has such an eye for different locations, unique ideas and also helps give you direction into looking your most flattering. We really got to know him in such an intimate way that I was BEYOND comfortable with him on our wedding day. I knew we would be in good hands. Of course, on the wedding day, Walter and his team did not disappoint. They captured EVERY moment from the day. From sentimental moments in the ceremony to the outrageous moments on the dance floor, Wally was there to catch it. He was like a ninja; he has no problem laying on the ground, climbing a tree, whatever it takes! We also gave him a list of the obligatory family shots to get and he was just so kind yet efficient with all the family members and bridal party. When we got our pictures back from Walter (very promptly, I might add) we were floored. Not only did he capture every moment as I said but the artistic quality of the shots were breathtaking. Every person who has seen our photos has said, "This looks like something out of a magazine!" These shots are like nothing I've seen before. Walter photographed my daughters wedding this fall. It was a big wedding with a lot of family members. Walter did an amazing job getting a photo with the whole family crew in it. We had an all white wedding and the pictures turned out so good and we are beyond pleased with them! He captured so many fun candid moments and you could really feel the vibe of the wedding thru the pictures. I can not stop looking at them!!! Beyond that what we really loved most was working with Walter. He is so much fun, comfortable to have around, very approachable, and while having very high energy, he is calm and under control at all times. Walter makes you feel comfortable while being photographed. He blended in as if he was one of our guests :) I honestly can't imagine hiring a better photographer. Wally did our wedding recently and he did a phenomenal job. Him and his partner were able to capture unforgettable moments during my wedding and sent me a gorgeous star photo that we took the night of our wedding a day after the wedding. He gave direction when we needed it and suggested some remarkable places to shoot at the venue. He recommended doing the star photo because we were out in a remote location that didn't have a lot of city light interference and it came out beautifully. He made us feel extremely comfortable and his photos came out better than I ever could have imagined. He is an extremely talented photographer and I cannot recommend him enough! read more

My husband and I are beyond happy that we found Walter! First of all we are from Chicago and just got married in California. We hired a photographer from Chicago originally who was not what we had expected after receiving our engagement photos. So frantically we needed a new photographer ASAP. Walter was so accommodating with our schedule and setting up a time to meet while we were out in California. My husband and I were late to this meeting and new Walter had a date with his wife... and we couldn't make him late! After 5 minutes and of course stalking his gorgeous pictures on his website we knew Walter was the guy! His personality is contagious and he is so good at what he does! He was so responsive over the phone and through email. The day of the wedding came and Walter and his second photographer Edward arrived right on time! They went above and beyond getting perfect shots of our wedding! Our family was so impressed with Walters professionalism and personality! We received so many compliments all night! My husband and I can't wait to see how everything came out! So if you are in search of probably the best photographer in California hire Wally!! everyone we met and told about having Wally as our photographer couldn't stop praising him! read more
