We were wondering with the other doctors if it wasn't because of the long term use of some of her medications. He performed many tests and raised alarm bells and sent her to the emergency room. Reston Hospital emergency room doctor didn't see all the symptoms and issues that were present and complicating her condition. She wanted to discharge her and send her home where she lives alone. She told her she needs to take Kiwi and it will take care of her condition. When I called her and explained that she lived alone, the emergency room doctor told me we're not a social service agency. Very rude and full of her self. I told her my aunt needs further evaluations and an IV because she's dehydrated and has lost a lot of her bodily fluid. The ER doctor also told me that they saw a mass in her abdomen. I told her she's a cancer survivor and we need to take that mass seriously. It took a lot of persuasive talk before she agreed to put an IV and then admit her. I was disappointed with her. Dr. Hasan Shabih on the other hand was extremely nice and courteous with excellent bedside manners. He called me when my aunt was hospitalized and informed me what was going on while my aunt was hospitalized. Definitely recommend Dr. Hasan Shabih for your loved ones especially early patients.

I injured my low back about seven years ago and have lived with the pain and immobility that goes…read morewith a protruding disc. Nothing could be done for it except for repeated rounds of PT. Well, a couple months ago I reinjured it in what turned out to be the coup de grace for my L5-S1 disc. I went to the ER with pain and numbness all through my right leg, as well as flaccid calves and glutes. The MRI showed a severe disc extrusion flattening my S1 nerve root like a pancake. The first surgeon I was referred to gave me the ol' "it might get better with time" opinion, although my sense was that he simply preferred to deal in more high-dollar interventions. In a panic I called Dr. Santini's office for a second opinion. They got me in the next day and Dr. Santini confirmed that, no, this is not just going to go away. Within a couple weeks she performed the microdiscectomy and I had instant relief from 7 years of low back pain and stiffness. I'm still working on the atrophy and some numbness in my foot, but it's getting better week by week. I'm a huge believer in PT and the idea that "exercise is medicine", but I'm so glad I found Dr. Santini and had the surgery. The situation really had escalated to another level of severity and without her realistic assessment and quick treatment I might now be dealing with some permanent loss of function. This was one of the best experiences I've had with any specialist in the medical world and I'll unhesitatingly recommend Dr. Santini to anyone struggling with the same sorts of issues.

I found that she is kind, patient, very knowledgeable, and is always ready to answer any questions. She explained the whole physical process to me and once the physical started every check she performed, she explained to me why it needed to be done and how I could do the check. When I called to inquire about walk-in availability, the male receptionist who answered sounded as if he was half-asleep and was very difficult to understand. I genuinely could not make out what he was saying, so I politely asked him to repeat himself. Instead of clarifying, he responded in a blunt and dismissive tone. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. To top it off, right as I was wrapping up the call and saying "okay thank you," he hung up on me before I even finished my sentence. That lack of basic courtesy left a really negative impression. Again, I have no complaints about the doctors or the actual care, but the attitude of the person answering the phones makes a huge difference in how patients perceive the office. First impressions matter, and this one was disappointing.

Then Dr. Schreck took over and gave her a trigger-finger shot with poor technique and questionable hygiene. The result was an infection serious enough that my 75-year-old now grandma needs surgery. We left multiple voicemails asking for help and got no response. It's hard to accept this when her previous doctor handled the same procedure flawlessly every time. Dr. Schreck's mistakes and his refusal to address them show a clear lack of competence and responsibility. I wouldn't trust him with any procedure, and I urge others to look elsewhere.
