I'm desperately hoping that the CLOSED information about this school gets changed ASAP! I am so…read morepassionate about this institution, and I think that parents and student need to know! P.S. ATA is short for Advanced Technologies Academy! I began my Substitute Teaching career (let's be truthful, this is NO career, it's a "simply in the meantime" kinda gig) three years ago at the request of my highly educated, teacher of a mother after many-a-job hunts came up as dry as the desert we reside. My very first day on the job was subbing for my mom's class (she teaches World History AP @ ATA), and I was flabbergasted by these children. WHAT CHARACTER........SUCH A DESIRE TO LEARN!!! I thought to myself, "Oh heak yeah, this is what teaching is all about!" It was such a good day, and it inspired me to take more jobs at other schools! =) That SMILE could only last so long....... I was quickly disturbed by the utter lack of moral, ethical, & educational responsibility students at other Middle and High Schools had. DISTURBING!!! These children at other schools feel entitled to everything. "You owe me this!" and "I deserve a better grade!"...........where I come from, that S**T doesn't fly! YOU EARN IT, plain and simple! They think that a money tree will blossom in their yard one day and that learning is a futile concept (we all know that they didn't use the word FUTILE though!), but you get the idea. It's a ridiculous notion and it makes me both sad and scared for the future of these children. Now, this is not to say that ALL other schools are bad and that teachers and students don't care.....that's simply not true. It's just that ATA is like this hidden gem of a high school and at the end of the day, if I haven't spent my time subbing there, something just doesn't feel right. I want people to know about this institution and I want them to understand the depth of GREATNESS that this school embodies! ATA's mission statement reads: The mission of Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH) is to empower a diverse student body by teaching academic concepts and technological skills and by instilling in students the importance of effective, responsible application of their knowledge to succeed in a highly competitive, technologically changing world. Yeah, yeah, YEAH......you're probably thinking, "Lots of places attach a "Mission Statement" to their building or website, but how many actually ad hear to it?" THIS PLACE DOES! There are core values at this school that drive the student and teachers alike to better themselves and the people around them. Hell, these people INSPIRE ME! There's a genuine LOVE of LEARNING in this building and a desire to go off and take on the world. These kids have the moral fortitude to do what's right and at the end of the day, they understand the GIFT OF FREE EDUCATION THAT THEY ARE RECEIVING! (sigh) Let me continue this tangent a moment longer..... ~These children are producing the HIGHEST Advanced Placement scores in the state! They are receiving full ride scholarships to IVY freakn' LEAGUE COLLEGES!!! ~They are ambassadors for business and travel the world on school holidays! ~They are National Merit Scholars! =) This year I will watch my FIRST group of students walk across the stage as they receive their diplomas..........and I feel like the proudest mother ever! Well, maybe not mother because I'm only ten years older than this group, but definitely a proud sister! =) To me, this is the ideal high school situation........ ~Small class sizes (16 to 26 ppl) ~High achieving students ~Teachers that LOVE their job ~And opportunity to become something GREAT in an environment that wants exactly that for you! I don't know much, but I do know this, and I make sure to remind my students: YOU ARE GIVEN ONE OPPORTUNITY AT A FREE EDUCATION AND IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO RETAIN AS MUCH OF THAT AS YOU CAN!

I am a student at Advanced Technology Academy and I really want to see our school succeed. However,…read moreI'm writing this because the quality of the cafeteria lunches has been a major concern lately. Specifically, the ham and cheese sandwiches are often served completely frozen solid in the middle. It's very difficult for students to eat a meal that is still an ice block, and it's disappointing to go through the afternoon hungry because the lunch provided wasn't ready to eat. We would really appreciate it if the staff could ensure all meals are properly thawed and prepared before they are handed out. We just want healthy, edible options so we can stay focused in class!"

Shortly after our daughter was born we started the process of touring and evaluating the various…read moreprivate schools in Vegas. There is, in our opinion, no better option than the Meadows School. This is the kind of school that parents in Los Angeles, San Francisco or NYC have to jump through hoops to get their kids into, with massive politics and financial commitments at play. Yet in Vegas, many parents (including on our street) send their kids to Dawson due to its reputation for being easier and more artsy as they are terrified of the academic competitiveness of Meadows. If these same parents were in the Bay Area they'd be doing backflips trying to get their kids into the same sort of school there as Meadows. The campus is amazing. The curriculum is challenging. The kids are happy and very engaged in sports, theater, charity and other after-school activities. The parents are friendly and, especially the "Meadows Moms", work tirelessly to help out. Yes, your kid has to test into each school (K, middle, high). Great, we love a meritocracy rather than forced social promotion. And my daughter will have friends for life as she goes from K thru 12 here.

Interviewed for a coaching position with this school…read more.. After thinking the interview went well with the Athletic Director (I place no blame on him) I was told I will be brought back to meet with the other coaches and interview with them. A few weeks later I was then told I would be interviewing with 1 coach and 2 HR people. First off, since when do you need to interview with HR reps and 2nd, IT'S A CHEERLEADING COACH POSITION. Give me a flippin break. Four people for a PART-TIME cheerleading coach position! Had to sit through this interview while the "HR" people mean mugged me the whole time. I'm sure it's a great school; the campus was beautiful but why the HR interview????? Weird vibes from them.

There was a whistle that kept distracting our players. Not sure where it was coming from. But…read morecaught it on film. One of the Coaches kept shouting "Circle." Not many loud spectator parents at the first game, but they came to our Home game. The girls flag football team and some parents - visiting, was on our bleachers. The Ref was calling it as they saw it, and one dude's dad, the dude in the SF Giants cap, was getting all vocal about the "bad calls." One was a blatant wrap-around touch from one of your players. I've got the Video on this! It was no 9. Guess they were getting pretty frustrated, as they could not run up the score this time. There were four tall players on their team, one looked high school age! One of the Coaches was short, and some of those players were taller than him. I know that it comes down to the Coach's instructions, but their players threw our boys flags to the ground, instead of handing them to the player. I also have plenty of videos to support this statement. Why do I know this? My husband is a Coach with NYS League, and he always preaches the importance of good sportsmanship. Nope, you don't see this a whole lot in NYS League either. But that is the difference between a great coach and a good coach; teaches important life lessons not just game fundamentals. Our boys Defense was very good. They held your team's score to two touchdowns. Yes, there were a few mistakes. But it was not a shutout this time.

Hi! I am a former student from Rogich who is now homeschooled. I am going to tell you about my…read moreexperience here from grade. I am currently in 7th grade. 6th grade: Pretty fun and cool, I was in the bowling and theater club. Almost all of my teachers were very nice to me, but my math teacher at that time made me feel dumb. I won't be able to say the name for certain reasons, but this teacher would sort-of embarass me in front of everyone in the class and would make rude comments about me. There was this one time where I was trying to retake a math test. But as I was working, this teacher said " Hurry up, Charlie. I want to go home." Their tone in the comment made me feel stupid, rushed, and stressed out. 7th grade: Horrible in most ways. I was in the bowling club, and the teachers I had were still nice. But most of the kids there were very annoying, troublemaking, and loud. The overwhelming crowds and bad influences from most of the students made me feel very uncomfortable to the point where I had to get homeschooled after spring break. To any student who is wondering where I am, I'm homeschooled at home and can still come to after school programs/events. However, the principal, staff, and most of my teachers were very kind to me. The electives I had in 7th grade, which was beginning orchestra and student aids, were the best electives ever in my opinion. If you are about to be a 7th or 8th grader, I recommend you choose student aids because you can help a teacher of your choice and have lots of fun and free time to work on unfinished assignments. That was my review on Sig Rogich middle school.

I had the opportunity to visit this school for a choir competition, and I was truly impressed…read more There were so many talented students who gave their absolute best performances. The level of talent was incredible--it honestly felt like I was attending a professional concert! The event was very well organized, everything ran smoothly, and you could tell how much effort went into making it a great experience for everyone. The positive energy from the students, families, and staff made the event even more enjoyable. It was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to attending future events here. Bravo to all of the talented performers!

Went to see the production of WONDERLAND at the school last night…read more It was a modern-day retelling of a classic story from Broadway hit-maker Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel). Adult Alice, a modern-day, disillusioned video game developer from New York who is juggling a failing marriage, motherhood, and intense work environmentto the point of challenging her own sense of identity, she follows a rabbit down a service elevator and crashes into a bizarre, upside-down reality. Welcome to WONDERLAND. Alice had to face a sinister, power-hungry Mad Hatter, a Queen of Hearts, and a charismatic Cheshire Cat. Alice's quest to find her lost daughter forces her to confront the greatest mystery of all: how to find the courage and wonder she lost long ago. The girls who played Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter had amazing vocals. All the kids in the show were amazing with their acting, singing and dancing. The orchestra, WOW is all I can say about them. They were fantastic from start to finish. They all did such an amazing and professional job with the entire show, the stage hands, the lighting and sound, it was all like a professional show. High praise for the kids. The staff??? In the lobby, there was this one staff member, strong accent and very long fake lashes who makes one concerned about our future generation. On the table there was a sign that clearly said "SOLD OUT". We got our tickets on House Seats, obviously I had tickets otherwise I would not have been there, I had already talked to this lady once asking where the restroom was when I first arrived. So unless they just let anyone wander in off the streets to use the restroom on a show night??? As I said, we got our tickets on House Seats which means they were free. I wanted to support the kids, the theater program and the school, so I went up to the table and I said; "IF, I were to purchase tickets, how much would they have cost?" This young brilliant adult mind, looks at me, points to the sign, and says, "We are sold out". I'm retired military, I have a business degree, my generation learned how to read and like I said, I didn't just wander in off the streets just because.... I responded with, "I have tickets, which I displayed in case she was confused, I said I know it's sold out, I'm asking what the prices of the tickets would be if I were to buy them? The gentleman next to her quoted a range of price which prompted a short discussion between the two. OMG, I'm afraid for our future generation of kids. I handed the guy $40 to which he asked what it was for? I said a donation for the kids, the program and the school. I guess a lot of people don't think to donate if they got tickets for free which is sad. Programs in schools need our support and if you could have seen the production, it was amazing. Sadly it's becoming less in Public Schools. Their sound/lighting control area was better than some shows I've seen around town. The stage was massive, the props were professionally designed, the kids, from the Technical Director, down to the stage hands and every position in between, this could have easily been a production on the strip, that's how good it was and how amazing of a job the kids did. I will gladly go see a show here anytime and will gladly pay whatever the price is for a ticket and then some, to support such an amazing theater program. And again, the orchestra, one of the best from start to finish.
