Premature Wear of SofTex Backseat Material - 2022 Toyota Venza After contacting Walser Toyota in Bloomington, Minnesota on American Blvd W, I contacted the Toyota Brand Engagement Center. I wrote the following complaint to them: I am writing to report a concern regarding the SofTex upholstery in my 2022 Toyota Venza. The backseat SofTex material is tearing and peeling, despite the vehicle having only 22,878 miles and being used under normal driving conditions. I am the sole driver of this vehicle, and the backseat has experienced minimal use. SofTex seats are marketed as durable and long-lasting; however, I have since learned that other owners of 2022 Toyota models have reported premature wear of SofTex seating. While SofTex is generally easier to maintain than leather, there are documented concerns regarding its longevity and resistance to material failure. I initially reported this issue in person to Walser Toyota Bloomington, MN on American Blvd W on Monday, June 2, 2025, and followed up in person two additional times. On each occasion, I was assured that someone would contact me, but no follow-up occurred. I later contacted Jackson H. on December 18, 2025, and I did receive a call back with the suggestion that buying seat covers is a good solution. As I am still making payments on a nearly new vehicle, being told to purchase seat covers to address premature upholstery failure does not align with Toyota's claims of quality, durability, and excellence. Given the low mileage, limited backseat use, and my longstanding confidence in the Toyota brand, I believe this issue reflects a material defect rather than normal wear and tear. I respectfully request that Toyota review this matter and advise on repair, replacement, or coverage options, whether under warranty or through goodwill consideration. I received the following reply from the Toyota Brand Engagement Center. We understand you reported this issue to the dealer on 6/2/25 and 12/18/25. However, our records do not show any inspections by a Toyota dealer related to the wear on your back seat. If our records are incorrect, please upload the repair order showing the diagnosis for your vehicle. I probably will never buy another Toyota again. read more

We had a very bad experience buying a used car at the Walser Bloomington, MN dealership, and urge car buyers to go elsewhere. My teenager saved his money for two years to afford his first (used) car. It would have been understandable if the car needed a couple minor repairs or some new tires, but it is a lemon and has been in the shop every week since we bought it for a wide range of expensive issues. And when we contact Walser, the salesperson won't reply back, and the receptionist stonewalls us and prevents us from reaching a manager. So, instead of working out a mutually agreeable solution to this with the dealer, we are stuck with an unreliable, broken down used car that needs expensive, complex repairs. Much of this place is solid. They were supposed to have uber vouchers but they didn't work. Going back in, it's not clear where you're supposed to go or who to talk to. When someone finally decided to ask if I needed help, I mentioned it to him. He dismissed the feedback and said I should just talk to any one of the people at desks. Everyone not helping a customer was circled around one desk and did not seem approachable. Just having a person dedicated to point people in the right direction would do so much. read more

Went there to browse some used cars, this is the first time I had been there since they remodeled. It was helpful that they had cars organized in the parking lot to browse, but there were so many QR codes on each car and prices are not listed anywhere on the cars. Additionally, the QR codes rarely worked. I either got a popup saying the request was invalid or the QR code brought me to the walser toyota website, which I had already visited before I went to the dealership. Didn't feel like it was worth it to see cars in person when there is more information provided on the website. The indoor part of the dealership was confusing, busy, overly corporate, and unwelcoming. It was easy to get lost and I felt like I should be wearing business casual walking in there. I worked with Tom Kennedy to purchase a new RAV4 and the process was seamless. Tom provided me with an estimated timeline for how long it might take my car to arrive and kept me informed through the process until it arrived. When I picked up my car, Tom sat with me in the vehicle and explained everything in great detail and then he handled all the necessary paperwork. He is extremely thorough, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history or Toyota and how the vehicle works. All the information was overwhelming, but Tom made clear if I needed to review anything about my car, to let him know. I got a coupon in the mail for a discounted oil change. So I made an appointment to bring my car in. After bringing my car in and waiting they told me that it was only good for a Toyota (that's what my wife's car is). I said it does not state anywhere on the coupon where it says that. He pointed to the bottom corner where in the smallest writing it just says XXXXXXXXXXXXX3812. That's it. Nothing else. Apparently that's her VIN and I was supposed to know that. We didn't buy a car here but service was good in the day we came to test drive. We are looking for a particular car which WAlser had in stock. We spent the week trying to get folks to respond. I would call and would have a promise of a text in an hour and nothing, or would Get the response two days later. We made an appointment and even With it as busy as it was, we got right in. The salesperson knew the car and immediately took us out for a test drive. We found a problem and the salesperson immediately took it back to have it looked at. It turns out that there was a serious problem that could result in several thousand dollars of repairs. So they said they couldn't sell it to us. DO NOT GO TO Walser Toyota in Bloomington MN. If you want good service go to Maplewood Toyota or Inver Grove Heights Toyota. I took my car iin for an oil change and tire rotation. To my shock it was extremely expensive. They then started to pressure me into spending $400 for a maintenance package. There was potential cost savings so I went with it. Keep in mind had I known about the terrible experience I was going to have I would have rather given money to a different Toyota dealer. I asked about a front end alignment since they have the cameras as you pull in. They put on my work order to do an alignment and quoted me a cost. I asked if they had any discounts or coupons since I just spent $400 with them. They said no but would honor other places coupons if I find one. I found one at Maplewood Toyota and Inver Grove Heights Toyota. I asked if either of those would work. Both were extremely good deals. The adviser after looking at the coupons said he needed to check with manager. His manager came over, saw there great coupons and told the adviser to take the alignment off the work order. He then told me that he need to look into the coupons further and get back to me. Now my car was gone so I was locked in there. Over an hour later I heard nothing. I walked out and got the manager asking him where we were at with the alignment and coupon. He said your car is ready and we will not honor the coupon. I asked why since at the beginning they said they honor other places coupons. He said they will not honor the coupon. I asked if they noticed and unusual wear on the front tires. He said all the tires had good tread depth. I said that's not what I asked. He said we don't know. I got my car back unwashed and extremely frustrated with their terrible customer service and misinformation. read more

The company that provides their detailing service is the worst. My brand new car has scratches, swirls, dents, and miscellaneous cosmetic issues with the sensors since they took my car to perform the service. If you have to buy a car from here, do not get their undercoat, paint protection, and interior detailing package. The company they work with is P&L and they are difficult to work with. My mom bought her car here in 2011 and had a oil-change-for-life deal. Yesterday she took her car here for a oil change and this time they told her she needs to do several repairs costing a few thousand dollars in order to keep the free oil change deal. However she rejected all and opted for oils change only. A day after the oil change, she noticed a puddle of oil under the car. After a quick inspection, I noticed the drain plug was so loose that I was able to tighten with my bare hands. I'd hate to assume the dealership purposely left this loose, but it doesn't add up. I guess they want led to get more money one way or another. Taking advantage of an old woman is where they are now. I hope more people share their stories. read more

Went for a routine oil change, and I also specifically asked them to look at my tire that had been patched as I had started getting low pressure alerts pretty frequently with my pump reading an initial PSI 2/3 of what it's supposed to be. They ensured me that they "took a look" at it. Not long after I drove home, I got the alert again. A month later, I had a flat tire. It's disappointing to have this experience when the Toyota dealership where I previously lived seemed to actually listen to me. Maybe it was a one off experience, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. However they kept pushing me to have my credit pull because "this is how you know it's not fake" - is what the manager said on side to the sale representative-. I express to them that I didn't want my credit pull, I just need a purchase agreement. They insisted the NEED to in order to give me a purchase agreement and assure it will not affect my credit. My wife & I posted our car on Craigslist for sale & received a text from an employee of Walser Toyota offering to purchase the car for the amount in the post. Hearing this, we took our Craigslist post down & scheduled time at Walser Toyota to meet & check the car out. After waiting 30 minutes after the scheduled time in the lobby for the employee, I was met robotically & unapologetically with "sounds like there was some miscommunication". We took the car on a test drive during which the employee asked questions like "do you hear that noise?" (I didn't, but let's just assume there were sounds & I just didn't hear them) Following the drive, the employee then said that the offer would be "significantly lower". I got the sense from my interactions w/ the employee that I was an inconvenience. The employee walked far behind/ahead of me like a child trying to distance themselves from their parents at the mall. We don't plan on working w/ Walser in the future, but I'd recommend that if you find yourself in a similar situation, you should consider similar "offers" from Walser as soft & keep those Craigslist posts up until you've got a check in hand read more

6/30 Bought car. Noticed a vibration over the weekend. Brought car in. Service balanced tires 7/7 Reached out to Farhan due to continued vibrations. Offered appt on 7/8, but then service was swamped so Farhan offered Monday, 7/10. Service replaced front brakes and rotors. 7/12 Went to clean the windshield and the wiper fluid leaked a large puddle in our garage. Smell like burning antifreeze from engine area, and still feel a pulling to the right. Arranged with Farhan to bring car in on 7/13 - Had to postpone until 7/14 due to work. Brought car in. Was told in service that I had no appt. After discussions, they would need it for a couple of days and was offered a rental car for $45/day. 1:35 PM, asked to speak with management at front desk. Was seated at table and waited until 2:20. Went back to front desk to inquire about someone coming to see me. As I was seated back at table, service advisor came back up to me and asked about using a rental. I indicated that I wasn't willing to pay for it given the circumstances. He said the fees would be waived. Got rental car and left for home. 7/17 - Received video inspection of vehicle. Noted issue with wiper/pinched hose, AC compressor leak, and coolant reservoir leak. Vehicle is at Walser Polar Chevrolet now. 7/18 - Received word via a phone call to the dealer, that vehicle should be done around 7/21. 7/19 - Received voicemail from John indicating that vehicle should be done at the end of the week. He will call back when it is completed. 7/20 - Amy went to get the car back as we had received a call indicating the car was done. After talking with a couple of people, the service department found the car. It was determined that not all the items pointed out had been repaired/replaced. Service agreed to keep the car and finish the required repairs. Amy was told it would probably be another week without the car. 7/26 - Amy called dealership for an update. Car had been returned from Polar Chev to Toyota dealership yesterday. No one called either of us to inform us of this. Service person indicated that Polar Chev was instructed to charge the AC, not fix the AC compressor, as had been previously talked about. Amy is calling back to speak with a sales manager about returning the vehicle for 100% refund. read more

It started off fine except for a pushy salesman making me uncomfortable trying to sell a warranty and extra walser packages even though he claimed he gets no commission and i made it clear i just want the car. He also didn't know front license plates are required in MN. I thought a missing front plate and no spare tire were the only issues until i tried to buy tabs a few months later. DMV tells me the car is not in my name. I call, text, and email multiple times to multiple people and they say they know the issue and they're working on it. 8 months later after i get a ticket for expired tabs and a missing front plate, the GM is contacted and resolves the issue. Previous owners misreported the milage is what im told and they needed to sign off on it. read more

Got charged for repairs done off of first diagnostics test, during which the first test was still "pending" and was informed after failed were done. Got charged for maintenance that is "highly recommended" but not asked if it was wanted until after the fact. Poor communication and charges for their screw ups. Highly recommend going to different dealership or local shop for repair/maintenance. read more

New facility looks great but service is poor. Brought my car in for engine check light. Had an appointment early in the day and told them that I needed it that day. Hours later minutes before they closed, when it was too late to get my car back, I get a call saying the technician hasn't found the problem yet and they will have to keep my car until Monday. They shouldn't have had an open spot for a reservation if they didn't have time to work on it. And when I told the person checking me in that I needed it done that day he should have warned me. I was scheduled for a 7pm appointment which I arrived early to. My car was looked at for 2.15 hrs and I was charged almost $160 for this. I was given a list of things that had gone wrong w my car and told I would have to come back to get any of it done. So basically, I watched everyone else get their car problems fixed well I only got mine looked at. I was not pleased when I was told that, 1. The work I needed is almost the cars value 2. They charged me almost $160 (for inspection and shop charge which were not explained to me) for a quick look I could have had any other tech I know look at 3. I sat and waited for longer than my estimated time. 4. I got no car wash (I would have assumed every car that came in would get one, especially since I paid for a service) I personally would not recommend coming here unless you know youre getting a fix for free. read more

Brendan assisted me and we had a great, no pressure discussion about the different options and what was important to me. I put money down on a vehicle that was ' in transit', and Brendan assured me that I would see the vehicle and test drive it prior to finalizing my purchase. I brought my car here for a routine oil change for the first time after moving to the area. First, the customer service experience was far below that of my previous Toyota dealer. They put a sticker on the windshield indicating when the next oil change is due. Long before that date I start getting serial emails and messages saying that my oil change is past due, including from Carfax, which is now recording that my oil change is 30 days past due! I actually have a couple months worth of driving before I'm due according to the sticker they put on the car -which is the correct amount of miles. I called to correct the error but found their automated service answering system frustrating to get through to speak to an actual person. When I finally reached someone they couldn't help me but promised someone in service would call me back. Didn't happen. Neither did the person who was sending me the emails respond. I reached out in Feb and March of 2023 to try to purchase a 2018 Lexus 500h they had listed at 59k. At that time the vehicle was at Wasler Subaru. I asked if they can work on the price because it's listed higher than what's it's worth. They advised me that they are a non-negotiation zone. I was not asking for a big discount or anything especially when I know they get these cars from auctions at 40-70% discount. The manager can chose to bring the price down or keep it high to sell the car, just depend on how greedy on profits they wanna make. I watched it for a while and they kept bringing the price down until now in the July, the price is at 49k and the vehicle has been moved from Wasler Subaru to Wasler Toyota. I called attempting to purchase the vehicle. I asked how much would it be to ship the car from them to me in San Diego, Ca and was told by one sales rep that it cost $1-$2 per mile and would be $1700-$2300 to ship. I said that does not sound right cause I already called around and the average price to ship is from $900-$1300. Then that sale rep told me that it's their policy for them to ship the car unless I come there and buy the car and drive it off the lot and have someone ship it for me. I said that bs. Hung up called back a day later talk to a different sales rep and he told me he will check. Came back and told me that it would be roughly $1150 to have the car shipped to me in San Diego, Ca. I said ok let's make the purchase. Advised them that I already have an approval from my bank to purchase the vehicle. They told me they need my social before I can make the purchase. I asked them why do they need that and why do they need to pull my credit if I already have an approval from my bank to buy the vehicle. He gave me some bs of it's the store policy to pull ones credit to verify the person is who they say they are. I told them that I am an active military personnel stationed in California and provide my military id along with my driver license to verify my identity. I asked to speak to a manager that was some Hispanic dude could barely speak English. He said we have to pull your credit. I asked him how much to ship the car and he gave me the same bs if they charge $1-$2 per miles to ship. I said that's bs cause your sells rep just told me that it cost $1150 to have the car shipped to California. This mean they are padding their pockets to have the vehicle shipped. This means they are charging the customer extra for no reason just to make extra money. They do not know what they are doing. I asked to speak to a gm and never heard back from them. The bad part is I was not even trying to negotiate the price or anything just was trying to sign some paper and get deal done that was it. read more

We ordered a RAV4 hybrid back in Sept were told 6-9 months, it's now 10 months and when we ask still no information on the car. Got a call in June and were offered a different RAV4 after negotiating my husband said he'd take it. All was set UNTIL we got a call that manager had sold it to someone else. It's July, still no car, they've had our deposit since September. They did offer a car for August but it's high end and much more money! Frustrated! read more
