Lilly and her staff are amazing! I had an open compound fracture of my tibia/fibula, basically my shin bone, broke in half and my bone popped out of my skin due to a motorcycle accident. I ended up having surgery where a rod was inserted through my bone and secured with 3 screws. I thought I was going to be out of work for at least 6 months, and even if I was to return to work, I would be a modified schedule. Most of the PT offices I contacted required that I wait 3 months following my surgery. Lilly had a different opinion and suggested I start right away so my muscles don't deteriorate and my joints won't get locked up. I'm glad I listened to her! When I first started my sessions, Lilly, Jackie, Brian and Vincent always made me feel welcome. They were gentle on the amount of pain I could tolerate as I slowly regained function and mobility of my leg. By month 3, I was down to a single crutch, and month 4 I was able to start walking without much assistance. Now at month 6, I am fully back to work. I found Walnut PT after experiencing lower back pain that started causing pain down my leg. After having an MRI recommended from my orthopedist, I confirmed I had two discs bulging in my lower back. I received physical therapy treatment from Lily from Jan 2020 to April 2020, giving a total of 16 sessions, for a post surgery op to fix my broken clavicle and am very satisfied with the amount of care she had in explaining the routine exercises in detailing what muscles were weak or strong and how it would improve mobility by strengthening them. She gave me physical treatments that helped me in reducing pain and increasing range of motion exercises. Throughout my sessions I felt very comfortable conversing with her about my issues by showing an openness to answer any questions I had. Scheduling wise she was flexible enough to work with my late schedules and returned calls and answers to my questions within the day or next. I recommend Lily for physical therapy and would be willing to return for other physical therapy needs. As for the facility, it is kept well clean and is spacious enough to house a lot of gym equipment for heavy weights and light weights, including and not limited to barbells, dumbbells, cables, machines, pads, etc. I found this place through Yelp for something more local and agree that it deserves its high rating. read more

I've had back issues on and off for 10+ years. Recently, it became worse and worse, leading to muscle spasms and discomfort doing everyday activities- sitting, standing, driving, coughing, sneezing, laying down, etc. I'd tweak my back by sleeping wrong or making an awkward move, and already knew I'd be out of commission for a month. As I felt a sharp pain in my knee worsen, the sweat dripping from my head quickly transformed into a single tear falling from my eye. This happened during a routine weekend long run of 13 miles and the next day, I could barely walk up a flight of stairs. After taking a week off to "recover", I inevitably injured myself again and I knew something had to be done. I heard about Walnut Physical Therapy (WPT) through a friend and decided to give them a shot. I scheduled my assessment via the phone and was able to book an appointment within a few days. During my initial assessment with Dr.Koh was extremely informative and thorough. Dr.Koh asked me a lot of questions about my running experience and even questions that I never even thought about which could have potentially influenced my injury. Overall, I let her know that my plan is to run the LA Marathon which was about 10 weeks away at the time. She kept it real with me and told me that as long as I come in for my treatment, stretch, and follow the prescribed strengthening exercises, I should be able to achieve my goal. "Better late than never, but never late is better" -Drake. WPT lives up to these expectations because I have never had to wait for my appointment to start. The team at WPT ensures that all patients are taken care of at their promised time and treated with care and attention as well. Each patient is different, but my sessions usually started with some soft tissue work, followed by some stretching, and then strength training. The reality is that most rehabilitation will also need to be done outside of the office and Dr.Koh set that expectation for me from the start. I would have to stretch and do workouts at home in addition to my visits if I wanted to fulfill my goal. So WPT printed out a detailed workout guide for me to put on my fridge. In summary, I used to believe that these long endurance runs were all about grinding it out, no pain, no gain. But when all you do is grind, everything turns into dust. The WPT was able to help me identify the cause of my problem, the many intricate details in solving my problem, and helping me get to my goal. I just ran 18 miles this weekend with no pain at all and the best part was feeling stronger than my old self. I appreciate WPT's practice of individualized care and transparency. The great Bruce Lee once said "Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one". Well I was praying for an easy recovery, but WPT came to my savior by giving me the strength to endure a difficult one, and to get back to doing what I love. TLDR (Too Long Didn't Read): I injured my knee running long distances and couldn't walk up stairs for a week. Through Walnut Physical Therapy's care, I was able to run 18 miles within 8 weeks and working my way back to my second marathon. COVID-19: Walnut Physical Therapy staff and patients all wore masks during all 8 of my visits. There is also hand sanitizer accessible throughout the entire office. In addition, staff is carefully spraying down and cleaning all equipment after every use. Everyone is respectful of social distancing as well. LOCATION: Parking is super easy to find here. The office has an open-floor plan so it really does feel like a comfortable and supportive environment where everyone is just trying to get better. I have seen people that come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and athletic levels get care here. EQUIPMENT: This office has new state of the art equipment. From therapy equipment like bands, weights, and therapy tables to full-out workout equipment like a squat rack, WPT has all of the tools to ensure that all are served, no matter the age or athlete. TREATMENT: I can only speak from my own experience, but I have witnessed a lot of different treatment plans and strategies being utilized here just from observation. With that being said, my treatment consisted of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, both self and assisted stretching, assessing muscle imbalances and weaknesses, and strengthening workouts. I started going to WPT one a week and as I showed progress, I started going every other week. In 10 weeks, I went from barely able to walk up stairs to running 18 miles. I am well on my way to 26.2. CUSTOMER SERVICE: WPT definitely operates under a value system that focuses on the patient. From when you walk into the waiting room to when you get back into your car, every moment is complimented with a sense of genuine care and attention. All of the staff are extremely knowledgeable and informative in all of their interactions. There is never a page unturned or a question unanswered. Most if not all of the aides here have long-term goals of becoming a Physical Therapist so you know you're getting the real deal when you interact with any of the staff members. I had suffered a severe sprained ACL injury on my left knee in December 2018. I was in a poor health system/insurance that did not treat me well with my recovery process especially with my (pre)rehab with their own PT staff. The PT I had was dealing with more than 5 individuals at a time and it seemed like that doctor just made me do random exercises and nothing personalized for my needs and situation. After a few sessions, I realized this was not for me and discouraged me from going ever again. I tried rehabbing on my own but I was not motivated and disciplined enough to keep going. I started going to walnut physical therapy probably in either March or April. I had a full ACL reconstruction surgery mid february. I initially was going to kaiser after getting surgery there, but was recommended here. Lily challenged me and continually changed up my physical therapy. I'm now just as strong as I was before. I can still tell that my left knee is my weaker knee but my balance, strength, flexibility, and endurance are pretty much back. While she may look young, Lilly is very professional and knows her stuff.
