One sales associate who gets the official title of Canadian Karen, was having a bad day. She did not want to help my friend and she was rude. She claimed she could not pull the dress off the mannequin because it was "too heavy" and it cost $20k so she didn't want to break the mannequin(?). Anyway, I was disappointed because I could tell where the root of her actions stemmed. I met my first Karen in person. I had to speak with her. I let her know she is the first person in Victoria that was rude. I said I realize that you are about to be unemployed, but that is no reason to be rude.

This location is located as an anchor in the Bay Centre City Mall in downtown Victoria. It is two levels, with a large men's department downstairs. The set-up is very similar to Marshalls, with name brand discounted clothing and clearance items scattered throughout. With the 28% discount in the currency rates, I was able to find a good deal on men's socks. Something to definitely consider if you are running out of sundries and don't want to (or can't) do laundry on a long trip visiting this beautiful city. One observation: the checkout line is the same set-up as Marshalls, where there is one winding queue, and you are called to the next open register once you are at the front. And the automated voice that calls you, is the exact same one as the one used at Marshalls and TJMaxx.

There is also a Cineplex across the parking lot as well as a library and ice rink. It truly has everything in this one area and I think people take it for granted. It looked like *the* place to visit in Victoria; at least, from a satellite's point of view. Unfortunately, the reality was a little different. We came across Market Square the first time after nightfall on a Saturday, when just about all of the shops were closed; only the aforementioned Whistle Buoy appeared to be open (and was actually bustling, either at or near capacity, even outside in the plaza). I desperately wanted to see Market Square, even if it was just a walkthrough past shuttered windows and locked doors. We spent a few minutes taking in the sights, then headed on to our other destination. The second time we stopped in was the following Sunday morning, after its listed opening time of 11am, only to find that, even though most of the shops were open, there still wasn't a whole lot going on here. It wasn't the packed, buzzing community hub that I had hoped it to be. Perhaps our timing was bad, or things had changed since I first discovered it, or maybe my impression was simply flawed from the beginning, but I still wanted it to be more than it appeared to be. Maybe it was, once. Maybe it still is. Maybe it will be again? For as pontificatingly whiny as this review may sound, I still enjoyed my time at Market Square. Perhaps during our next visit, we'll be able to stick around longer, grab a bite to eat, explore the complex more thoroughly (I am *sure* that there are hidden doors and passages in there, somewhere!), and maybe we'll arrive during a special event that really shows off the magic of this magical masked market, because it deserves it.

They had tea samples outside (don't mind if I do! ;-)). I have an increasing interest in upscale and high end vintage inspired fashion, with a unique and otherworldly twist. The style this store projected was victorian, vintage, mixed media, otherworldly, and artsy. The prices for the clothing are on the high end, which is to be expected. I ordered an earl grey tea to go. I really enjoyed it. I love sipping tea while I shop.
