The meat, deli, seafood and produce departments offer as much (and sometimes more) variety than the big box retailers. I love that I can get freshly steamed shrimp, fresh hot soups and hot bar selections for the times I don't feel like cooking. When I was my Mom's caretaker, I could not have made it through without the deli, salad and hot bar. As to the employees? Unfailingly polite and helpful. Need a specialized cut of meat? They will cut it for you. Need that wonderful Sahlen's ham sliced a certain way? The deli will slice it custom. Looking for something special in produce? They will do their best to get it for you - and frequently offer produce from local farms. I love the convenience of being able to run to Kennie's as I need. TARGETS ADULTS with SPECIAL NEEDS- Telling Them to Vacate the Seats…read moreI've bought lunch and ate in the seating area at Wegman's several times. I am a support staff for adults with intellectual disabilities or autism. Sometimes when I am supporting an adult with special needs, we would buy lunch at Wegman's and eat there. Afterwards, we would play a couple games before leaving. I didn't see the harm it. We see many groups meet there to play Mahjong or Dominoes. There are people there working on laptops. I've seen people crocheting there. They have a television for children to be able to sit and watch. Since there are always plenty of empty seats, I thought it was acceptable. And maybe THAT is, but Wegman's seems to have a REAL PROBLEM with adults with special needs. Small groups of staff helping adults with intellectual disabilities have been asked to leave while others are there doing a variety of activities other than eating. The excuse given: "We want you to leave after you eat." When the support staff who was approached questioned why they were singled out, that Wegman's staff person went to the other small group of individuals with special needs and told them to leave-- totally ignoring others around who were doing things other than eating. This is not the only time small groups of disabled individuals were asked to leave. Yet, I always see others, even large groups meeting there to play games, and I've never seen any Wegman's employee ask any of those groups leave. I've never seen a Wegman's staff ask people on laptops to leave. This definitely looks like discrimination against people with disabilities.

I rang up the first transaction, before I could even put the first item in the bag, the cashier, Karen, rushed over, "Are you planning to pay for those items? You didn't ring everything up." I explained that I was making two separate transactions and that she should have waited until a theft actually occurred before accusing me of a crime/stealing. Karen, with her tail tucked between her legs walked way and mumbled a slight apology! From the start, Karen had a razor-sharp fixation on me from the moment I entered the self-checkout line. Security cameras are everywhere, so why would I steal a jar of honey when Karen was already breathing down my neck as I was ringing up my items? Words were exchanged, and she called for a manager. Meanwhile, an employee named Bozo, who was not even on the scene when Karen accused me of stealing, adamantly stated, "She didn't accuse you of stealing!" He automatically took her side without knowing what had happened. Bozo, who claimed to be a manager, had a smug, nonchalant, and accusatory disposition, making him extremely unprofessional. A manager? How? He knows nothing about conflict resolution, has no training in de-escalation, and only added fuel to the fire. As a manager, Bozo should have remained neutral until all the facts were presented. Instead, he called in more reinforcements, and they tried to gang up on me...even another customer joined in. It was an interesting dynamic! I kept laughing out of frustration because Bozo tried so hard to demonize me, even though I was the victim. . What't the point of my post? To express that Bozo and Karen are not lost prevention and need more training! I'm grateful to TikTok and other social media platforms for making me aware of scenarios such as this. I was already mentally prepared, which helped me remain calm and composed. However, still flabbergasted by the accusations. Kudos to Brian the manager, he handled things swiftly and professionally. Whether he genuinely cared or not, he at least made an attempt to lower the temperature. I guess I'm lucky? I'm 53 and have never experienced anything like this before. Majority will NEVER experience the micro aggressions, the internal biases, the stereotyping and the prejudgements, lucky you! When I am hungry, Turkey Hill is where I will go, especially when I am traveling. There are many hard-working people throughout the various Turkey Hill stores. And, though my many years on this planet has taught me that any store/person can have a bad day, what I can say about the Turkey Hill store at 735 S Broad St in Lititz, PA, is that the store and its personnel are CONSISTENTLY terrific. That consistency keeps me coming back. Every week, I travel to Lititz from my home in Lebanon County, and in over 3 1/2 years, I have never been disappointed with the service at this Turkey Hill. Of course the counter can be busy at certain times, but that is because the store is popular. The manager, June, is very personable and ready to help, and personnel such as Jess, are very hard-working and have, on certain occasions, impressed me with their ability to multi-task. The overall atmosphere of the store is upbeat, and SPECIAL DECORATIONS during the numerous holidays make the store a special place to drop in quickly or sit at the tables, dine in, and just take it easy. In short, this is, in my quasi-humble opinion, the best Turkey Hill store in the tri-county region. I highly recommend patronizing this Turkey Hill and, if possible, slow down and enjoy the store.

I went out and the higher grade worked. Meanwhile two other customers were having the same issue and I went to tell them the issue instead of the employees coming out. Hopefully they actually put a sign out there for future customers but not betting on it. Now it is two weeks later. I am hoping that the previous issue is a one time deal. I pull in, get out of my car and when I go to put my card in I notice a small note in maybe 12 pt font that says they are temporarily out of gas. That should be a big sign as to not waste our time. That should be on the big sign where the prices are. I saw 4 other cars pull in after me so I was not the only one wasting my time. They really need to get their act together. If this is going to be a regular issue I will take my business up the street.
