This is hands down, absolutely, the worst Walmart in the entire country. I have worked in over 30 states and numerous cities, towns, etc., nowhere have I ever seen such a terrible store. The people of Starkville deserve better. The pumps at the gas station always have issues with the card readers, including debiting money from your account. I picked up a package of tortillas one afternoon and checked the date, 2 months past expiration! The person working the aisle told me it wasn't her job to make sure the items were good. They remodeled at put a wall of candy up to make it harder for disabled people to get to a register. There's fewer and fewer employee ran registers. Don't get me started on the lack of service a the tire center! The people here do not care about service. Try calling, no one ever answers the damn phone. They know they suck. I waited for 30 minutes just trying to get someone to open the cologne case. I asked 3 different people and nobody came and helped me. One worker was talking to his friend and when his friend noticed me needing help he told his friend "she can wait". His friend didn't even work there he was just talking. I've never had an experience like this at a Walmart. I scanned two things and put them next to the scanner and grabbed more to scan and put in my bag. She decided to belittle me and talk to me like I'm stupid. Two older ladies tag teaming not helping, just gossiping and walking super slow when the assistance screen pops up so I can pay and leave. I should've talked to a manager but I highly doubt anything would get fixed. Also noticed the majority of review's are from people of white, Asian or Hispanic descent, couldn't help but notice the racism. I won't be shopping here again. read more

The floor associates are clueless. I went in to buy a robot vacuum that was apparently expensive enough to keep inside a locked glass case. No associate in the area so I went in search. First one told me she didn't work in that area and didn't have a key and I might have better luck asking in the electronics. Back to her cell phone she went. Next one I ran across I managed to get to take the cell phone from her ear and she also didn't know anything about anything. The first one I talked to came up about the time I was walking away to talk the second girl what she had told me so I simply said I would go find a manager. Maybe they would know who had a key to the display. No luck. The customer service told me the manager was off so I asked who was in charge that was there and they could not give me a name. read more

Terrance, the Automotive Manager at the Wal-mart in Starkville, MS on Highway 12, is an absolute disgrace to the professional world. How he obtained a manager position is more than I can fathom. On his phone, walks away from a customer while talking to them, when asked his name he only turns around and shows his name tag, no knowledge of the store in general or services provided. How does a MANAGER not know how to receive and issue a return? A complete and utter disgrace and disappointment with a sense of entitlement and laziness. One star is too much. This is for their auto department. My daughter went there today to get a lightbulb replaced in her headlight. It's a simple process for a mechanic. She waited patiently for FOUR HOURS at which point they tell her they can't replace the bulb and she can try again when they have a different mechanic on duty. Not even an apology for her FOUR HOUR wait for nothing. She's a busy college student who doesn't have the luxury of wasting FOUR HOURS sitting in this poorly run and unkempt Walmart. I love Walmart. Most are good to go and we've lived in multiple states North and South. I think it boils down to poor work ethic and bad attitude by the associates at this particular location. Avoid them and find a local garage who might have some skin in the game and who will want to please their customers. This place is not it. read more

The place looks more like a cluttered Dollar General. Inventory in the aisles instead of on the shelves. Poorly staffed. And most staff there is too busy talking on their phones via ear buds than helping customers. And if you do get their attention, they're typically rude. Ordering online is just frustrating. It takes them so long to bring your order out. And several times I've had to return to the store due to missing items I was charged for. Their neighborhood market across town is 10 times better. I don't recommend the Starkville Walmart. I avoid it now. read more

The only reason I'm still coming is because it's close to campus. They have 0-3 lanes open at a time no matter how busy it is other than self checkout. After I check out they expect me to show them a receipt although they just took a video of my checking out. Absolutely dumb. If you can't trust us to check ourselves out, open the lanes up. I have been to the Wal-Mart big box stores all across the county and my usual comment is...."Wal-Mart is the same no matter where you are." And while that is true on the surface...they have the same signage, uniforms and basic goods...I have determined that the town and management gives each Wal-Mart it's own personality. This was my out and about place in my trip to Starkville, I didn't have a lot of time but I did need some necessities at different times and this was my go to place. I tried to buy clothes, and that never worked out LOL! I had several returns and the service desk was awesome you guys get 4 stars **** Clothing department, friendly staff willing to help! What! At a Wal-Mart?!?! I had the sweetest lady help me on several occasions try to find the right size and color. I wish I had gotten her name...she is a gem. read more

Downside.. much of the juice/drinks are in half-gallon or bigger sizes (or big packets) so you can't get just one... (unlike bags of chips which come in all sizes). Also a downside - if you're looking for organic yogurt for the kids, or organic milk, it can go fast (and not many brands), was out of stock for everything other than the Wal-Mart store brand the last time we went. Also, things tend to be scattered about and duplicated; office supplies and school supplies in two areas, and not all materials overlapping. Then kid's lotion - in both the pharmacy area and the kid's area, two different sizes and prices (different each area). Go figure. read more

I called Starkville Walmart Supercenter main number to speak to someone in the jewelry dept. No one answered on any extension I tried. I looked on the website and tried the numbers listed there, no answer. I tried the automotive dept., someone answered, but didn't know the jewelry dept. extension. Pharmacy didn't answer, electronics didn't answer, noone answered. I was only trying to see if my son's class ring had come in. I have a nickname for this store.... Evil Place. Name fits. read more

Typical, but slightly below average Wal-Mart. Since a change in ownership/management/staff selection, it has, however, improved. If you go in the evening, many products are not available on shelves and you have to visit another supermarket to get everything you need. read more

This is an automotive review: I initially had a new set of tires put on by WalMart's Starkville, MS automotive center in July of 2015. Today, in August of 2016, I went back to have another new set put on. I got a call when they were done saying that only three were put on because they couldn't get a lug off of my passenger side front tire. They also told me that in order to get it off they would have to break it and I would have to have it replaced. The problem with that is that THEY PUT IT ON! Why do I have to take it somewhere else to get it off?! I ended up taking my car to two other places to see if something could be done. Of course nothing could be done. I am now riding around with three brand new tires and one old one, because WalMart couldn't get off the lug that they put on one year ago. My advice is to shell out the extra money and go somewhere (like an ACTUAL mechanic) because WalMart thoroughly screwed me over. read more

This Wal Mart is awful. I would avoid going here. Every time I go, there's always a lot of things missing. They don't stock well at all. They also aren't familiar with where they keep things because whenever I ask the workers to show me where something is (because this wal mart is super weird about where things are placed) they don't know. Okay, this review relates more to the barber shop specifically inside of Starkvile's Walmart. Here in Starkville there are barbershops/salons that interpret closing at 5 pm to meaning stopping taking walk-in business at 4:20 pm! Fortunately for me, I literally stumbled on the fact that Walmart's barbershop is open to 8 p.m. For those with 9 to 5 jobs and sizable responsibilities on weekends as well as the rest of the week, a barbershop open late is a great resource. The staff are also personable and skilled. In short, the barbershop inside the Starkville Walmart Supercenter is a true resource worth patronizing. read more

We were in a bit of a tough situation. We had a blowout about 15 miles from this Walmart. We took a separate vehicle and headed here for a tire. When we arrived, the auto center was very busy and we were told 2 tire machines were down. We prepared for a long wait, but i kind man named Greg who took our rim and took time out of his work and fixed our tire in under 30 mins rather than 3 hours. Service in here is terrible. Never in any parking. Cash registers are hardly ever open even when the lines are absurdly long.

It wasn't horribly bad. Their service is okay, people are nice and the prices are great. They have people ready to help you but some of them can be a little unprofessional. Overall not a bad place. read more
