Walmart has completed what they call "The New Walmart," and honestly, the experience feels worse than ever. I didn't stop shopping at Walmart because of one bad trip, I stopped because the experience slowly became worse every single time I went. I've shopped at Walmart for years, so this review comes from long experience, and a noticeable decline over time. During the remodel they added thousands of new products, packed in more shelving, and narrowed the aisles to the point where two shopping carts can barely pass. Finding anything has become a frustrating scavenger hunt. Yes, they have an app -- but it's slow, inconsistent, and not much help when you're already standing in a crowded aisle. Product selection has also gotten worse. Items that used to come in small, medium, and large now often skip the medium size entirely. If that's what you need, you're simply out of luck. Quality control has also slipped badly. I regularly see bread on shelves past the pull date, loaves with partially open wrappers that are already dried out, and yogurt singles stuffed into cartons where only the outside package shows a date -- leaving you guessing how old the product inside actually is. The meat department has become especially disappointing. Cuts are loaded with gristle and fat, and the quality is far below what I expect from a major grocery retailer. The bakery is overloaded with products -- so much inventory that it's hard to believe everything can possibly stay fresh long enough to sell. Produce is another problem. Fruits and vegetables are often limp, bruised, or slimy. Carrots bend easily instead of snapping fresh. Bananas are frequently overripe. Grapes and berries often contain spoiled pieces that ruin the entire package. The final straw came this weekend. After spending more than two hours shopping with two full carts, we ended up with a very inexperienced cashier who stacked heavy canned goods on top of soft fruit and mixed raw meats with produce. Then everything was packed into thin paper bags that tear if they hold more than a few pounds. By the time we got home, several bags ripped open while unloading, scattering groceries everywhere -- including a broken jar of jelly. Delivery has been just as frustrating. Orders arrive on time -- but at the wrong house. Customer service told us to check with neighbors and retrieve the delivery ourselves. One time that meant hauling multiple heavy cases of water back home. The response we got was simply to remove the tip and end the call. Unfortunately, this has happened more than once. At this point, we've already stopped buying meat at Walmart, and we're close to ending our regular grocery shopping there altogether. The "New Walmart" may be their vision of improvement, but for us it has meant lower quality, more frustration, and a much worse shopping experience. What's disappointing is that none of these issues alone would have driven us away. It's the steady accumulation of small frustrations -- declining quality, harder shopping conditions, and weaker customer service -- that finally changed our habits. We didn't set out to stop shopping at Walmart; we simply realized one day that the experience no longer felt worth it. read more

For a Walmart Superstore it was not a terrible choice. The lady helped to find a bathing suit that would cover my fair skinned child's arms and stomach. She even directed me to the clearance suits that had the same coverage. Check out was also a breeze. read more

This place is the best thing since sliced bread. This is the cleanest WalMart I have ever been to in my life. We stopped here during our roadtrip and were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful it was. When I asked for help, the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. This seems like a nice Walmart and has a really nice parking lot. I'm a Target girl but there's no Target in this town, nor anywhere near. This store is gonna be my go-to all-in-one place. We moved to Ridgecrest 5 days ago and have been to Walmart 3-4 times already because they have so many of the items we need for ourselves or our pets. Walmart's shelves are never as "zoned" as I'd like them to be but with how many items they sell, maybe that's asking for the impossible. Our favorite cashier is Candy (blue specs and lovely attitude). She has made us feel welcomed each time. I think this may be the nicest Walmart I have ever experienced. read more

I am not a fan of this corporation. However, I bought my husbands Blackstone from the online store and I wanted to give a shout out to three special people, Madison, Mario and Nelson. These young people were so helpful to me when I needed help with something so heavy for my husband. Madison helped me get logged on and find my order and Mario and Nelson were so sweet to load it in my car. The corporation leaves much to be desired but they do hire good people and I have to give them praise when they earn it. read more

A hot mess.... And probably my least favorite Walmart. However, the staff have always tried to be helpful.

I was wowed by the inventory, BUT their logistics and customer service are horsesh!t. I won't get into all the details because it'll just make me more angry. But due to Walmart's inept and lazy employees (as well as bad leadership), their immaturity has impacted other peoples' lives in a negative way that I won't even get into. I'm saddened and disheartened and dismayed. Shame on whoever it is that contributes to this sh!tshow. read more

Not only are staff rude and unprofessional, the bathrooms are always disgusting, and the people watching the self checkout always walk up to me and rate themselves 5 stars. Why? That defeats the entire purpose. And the pick up orders are ridiculous. They always mark my order as picked up and completed before they even walk up to my car. Even the deliveries. They always give me a hard time if I have my order delivered when THEY forget items like entire BAGS of items. They always tell me they can't find my bags that weren't delivered. What's the point of the picture as proof if they don't even check it? On top of all of that, the team leads are disgusting. Either extremely perverted like their night team lead Sherman or extremely arrogant and rude to their own staff. Wish I knew her name, but she's awful too. I went into Walmart Supercenter today and I was disappointed when I walked by the pet isles, the fish tanks were dirty and there were dead fish in every single tank. That's just disgusting... ... the shelves weren't all stocked, a lot of empty ones and I went there because the website said they had something in stock and when I got there they didn't have it. We are at this store quite often because it's a one stop shop. The other night we went to pick up a bed frame because the website said they had 2 different frames that we liked in stock. After locating the aisle shown on the website we found that they had no frames. It was like pulling teeth trying to find an employee to help us find the items. When they did show they told us that their Inventory is off and the website is wrong most of the time. They said we should order them online and have them delivered to the store. No thanks. Since we were there we decided to buy some groceries from the grocery side. On the way to the grocery side we passed a couple employees who were diligently stocking shelves when another walked up and started yelling at them. So we stuck around for the grilling of a lifetime. Apparently if manager A tells you to go stock shelves you need to check with this manager B first to make sure you're not supposed to be doing something else. Manager B wasn't happy and made it known that she was going to talk to a third manager C about the issue. Good luck. We grabbed what we needed and headed to checkout. They only had a few lines open and all of them were backed up. I hate using self-checkout when I have more than 5 items. Also it feels like I'm working without pay. So we waited... and waited... good thing I like to people watch because there's plenty of that here. After paying at checkout we headed for the door and had to stop like everyone else and get searched. The Walmart scanner agents (WSA) were waiting with scanners and highlighters in hand to scan our receipt and items in the cart a second time to ensure we weren't trying to smuggle bananas out without payment. After getting my documents verified and highlighted we were allowed to leave the store but were still under their watchful eyes. Walmart never sleeps. The plus side is that there is always plenty of free parking in their giant parking lot! read more

Went to Walmart today to get an oil filter and oil. The book that shows which filter to get for your vehicle was gone. Got to the self checkout, the lady was insisting that I rate the store when the stars popped up at the end. Walmart has gone down and given nothing but horrible service. I declined and said no thanks I'm good. I started to walk away and when I tell you she was running in an attempt to rate my experience for me! My 1 star has now gone to negative 5! Way to go Walmart! Very frustrated with the pricing at this location, everything is priced higher than other walmarts and higher than Walmart.com. I have scanned multiple items and at different times during the year and still see prices are higher than normal. This store is a mess. Their solution for their high theft numbers is making everyone feel like a thief. They really need corporate loss prevention to come take a look at this store because their current practices arent helping. Also, their shelves are always empty so I honestly dont know what people are stealing. Produce goes bad the day after you buy it, meat is low quality, and associates clearly dont like their job as the self checkout lady was more concern with ordering her lunch then helping the 3 registers that required help. Too few cashiers to check you out. Double checking out once to pay and once again at the ONLY exit. The isles are packed with pallets so you can not walk around the store easily with a cart. This policy to have one door open at all times is so the store can hire less people and make more money. What's frightening is there's only one entrance/exit - a bottleneck - in the event of earthquake or fire. I buy less and less from this store. It's too dangerous of a place to shop We used to go Walmart five times a week. We spent a thousand dollars a month. Unless you work with Noel, then you won't have fun, not even a little bit even if you try. They'll harass you while you're shopping after getting you fired like its not the only walmart in town. Make sure you get ready to file a claim because they wont give you your last check after they fire you. One thing about them though, they don't yell. ALMOST SCAMMED!! I used the self-checkout and after getting home I noticed 2 charges on my EBT card which are not food items, so I called and complained and said it's a scam and possibly illegal to use EBT for non-foods items. Tha gal I talked was nice and quickly refunded my EBT purchased back on my EBT card and that is why I gave it a low grade. This Walmart is like any other Walmart, except the employees are more rude. 11pm on a weekday, the store closes in 1 hour, there's maybe a dozen customers in the store, 1 register open, and I am a 6 foot tall blonde who I know you seen walk through the cashier's station and pay for my stuff. As I'm walking out an employee asks me, "Can I see your receipt?" NO. Employee says, "I need to see your receipt." NO, SORRY, IT'S BURIED IN MY PURSE NOW. Employee says, "Maam I need to see it." DUDE I SAID NO MY ARMS ARE FULL. Employee YELLS, "Maam! Your receipt!!" LOL Lady, you saw my 6 feet of greatness walk through the register and pay don't hassle me. And even if you didn't, guess what?! You are NOT the Police and I DON'T have to show you my receipt! I know this is Walmart and they hire only 'the best' but c'mon People of Walmart... get off my back about the receipt thing unless you seen me steal something! So annoying. I ordered online for pick up at inside kiosk. Before I left I let them know that I would be on my way. Got to the store checked in at the kiosk. We were the only people in line. The store was not busy. No employee walking by or at the customer service acknowledged us. After about 10 minutes we pressed the red button for service. The button was somehow turned off after a few minutes ( still no acknowledgment we existed). After standing there for 15 minutes customer service lady finally called someone. I could have picked out the items and been home before anyone helped me! What is the point of this service?! read more

Can anybody say the worst Walmart in America! I've come to rely on Walmart pick up order being a boondocker and I've used Walmarts all over this country. The Ridgecrest Walmart though decided to reinvent the wheel with the pick up ordering process. They don't seem to think it's necessary to tell you that your order is delayed until 10 minutes after it was supposed to be given to you. After canceling my order and walking in the store to buy the groceries myself it was even more discouraging when I see all kinds of kids in Walmart employee gear milling around the store just eating and talking to one another but not working. There was one older gentleman doing the pick up orders grabbing the stuff out of the store and all these kids milling around doing nothing. Sorry to say I've worked here. As someone with severe anxiety and bipolar disorder, laced with a low tolerance for bullsh-t, I must say working here was a mistake. I worked in the fabrics department and I was having issues with my anxiety, constant anxiety attacks, sensory overload, times where I felt like it was too much for me. And the others would get angry at me when I excused myself to calm down and clear my head. Now, before you ask, no I did not have my medicine. At the time, San Bernardio county was giving me grief with my insurance due to me living a few blocks across their inconveniently placed county line and I was unable to see my therapist or get new medicine. I told my department manager about my issues and requested a shift or position change, since I was right in the middle of the store and even if the fabrics table isn't popular, we are in between the toys section, cookware, hardware and clothing isles. So the majority of people would just come to us (which doesn't sound too bad to a normal person). Not to mention, my shifts had me getting up at 6 in the morning for one half of the week and staying up till 11 the other half, and, in case you didn't know: AN UNEVEN OR UNSTEADY SLEEP SCHEDULE WILL SCREW YOUR BPD OVER PAST THE POINT OF MEDICINE'S REACH. I eventually got fired, since my manager had completely ignored our conversation and pretended I hadn't even spoken to her. The day I'd been fired was a very bad day for me. They got me up at 6 AM and I was already being bombarded with orders from my higher up at the time. I asked for the 7th time that week, "hey, where's (Manager's name)?" Because she had been on "vacation" for five days in a row. Mind you, this was about two weeks before Christmas itself. Upon hearing about her absence again, I asked them if she'd told them anything about our chat to place me in a position better suited to my mental health. They said she never said anything about our chat and that they even called her and she had told them she didn't know what I was talking about. I was fed the f-ck up and didn't even care anymore. I WANTED to get fired at that point. At least then I'd get to apply for unemployment and focus on my art. As soon as I left. I felt so much BETTER. I was more motivated, I was much happier, I got a haircut, started losing weight and my terrible stress-caused acne cleared out completely within a few days. Yeah, everyone in my family was pissy towards me for losing my job and since our family is old school, they don't believe very much in mental illnesses or thought that they could actually make the affected person feel different from anyone else. Of course, since Wal-Mart is the only superstore in this garbage town, my resume was practically screwed sideways for every store in this dust bowl. I later found out that they have a "hiring and firing quota" to make, so, they really don't care if you're out of a job any way you cut it. But since my reputation for work in this town is screwed, I think I'll just go back to selling art and I'm just gonna deal with what I have until I find a place that actually respects me without the fake "smile for the customer". Bottom line, these people do not care about people with mental illness, nor do they respect their rights. I would report them, but because California doesn't care about Ridgecrest, nothing would be done. So next time they have a hiring haul before the holidays 1. Set yourself up with a backup job. And 2. Get yourself a mental health evaluation test. I legitimately started losing hair in this experience, it's for your own good. read more

The new Wal-Mart is so much more spacious and open, compared to the old one across the street. With the abundant selection of groceries and sundries, this is the one-stop shop all around now. The vitamin selection is beyond compare locally, as well as that of many other items. It can be overwhelming at first. The one service I wished to take advantage of but failed to was the Subway sandwich shop. Most important of all, I did not have a people of Wal-Mart story of my own to tell. The lady at the self checkout was nice. The greeters were nice. What wasn't nice? The employees standing outside the entrance, smoking, listening to music, literally right next to the "no smoking within 50 feet" sign. I mean I get it, they're on their break, but when it's 10:00 on a Friday night in a strange town and you're stopping in a Walmart to restock on camping supplies, and the first thing you see when you're walking towards the entrance, is that? We just got home from Walmart. Since there is a navy base (China Lake) here it is pay day for the few thousand civil servants on base. They had two cashiers on duty. It is going to be worse tomorrow during the day as it is the Friday that all facilities on base are closed many many people will head to Wally World. Maybe they have have a whole one cashier on duty. Wouldn't want anyone to be overworked now would we? Every other Friday is a non working Friday for the base it has been that way for many years everyone knows that. Worst customer service I've have ever experienced in my entire life! So I get to their photo center and I find a young man by the name is Tristan sitting down on a stool looking down on his cellphone. My husband and I didn't even get acknowledged so I finally said "hello" to which he replied "hi how can I help you?" So I said "I'm here for passport pictures please". He replied "it's not possible". I said "i called today and they told me somebody would be here" to which he replied (with the world's biggest attitude) "well somebody is here but she's at lunch". I looked at my husband with disappointment and I said "wow" so he looks at my husband and once again with the worlds biggest attitude he goes "it is what it is dude". Yes that's right! "It is what it is dude?!" (1. You and my husband aren't friends so don't call him dude 2. That's not the way you speak to customers). My husband told him "please don't talk to me like that" so he laughs and once again he goes "it is what it is dude". To this point I can't believe what I'm hearing! So I said to him "you know what? You don't have to be rude and talk to customers like that". At this point he has a huge smirk on his face and says "I'm not being rude". So at that point the girl who can take the passport pictures walks in and Tristan goes "can you help them? Because apparently i'm being rude" once again with a huge attitude and huge smirk on his face! I've had it!! So I asked him to call his supervisor so he does. My husband and I are waiting for the supervisor to get here and I'm stunned because i still can't believe the behavior this person is demonstrating. So I turned and tell my husband "did he seriously say it is what it is? And is he seriously behaving this way?!" So he walks out of the photo center right behind me and says "it is what it is" once again with a huge smirk on his face and a horrible attitude so I respectfully told him "you repeat that to me in front of your supervisor to see how they feel about it" to which he has the audacity of replying with a "ok" with a thumbs up and a huge smile on his face like making fun of us. When the assistant manager walks out of the back Tristan goes and meets him half ways and talks to him briefly and laughs at the situation. I talked to the assistant manager but honestly I don't feel like he will handle the situation in the appropriate manner as I could see Tristan feels so comfortable talking and joking around with him. I will be coming back to talk to the store manager Derek Diamond to see what he can do. Tristan's behavior is completely unacceptable. It's my understanding that Walmart is huge on customer service and making sure that customers are satisfied with the service they get. I'm still trying to think how in the world I ended up staying there and paying for bad customer service. Tristan shouldn't be working there with that attitude and if he continues working there he should seriously get some training on customer service again. read more

This remote "supercenter" seems to be forgotten when it comes to maintaining selection and stock. The opening was great. Figured out what I wanted to buy and what shelf it was on. Problem is they are usually out of everything I want, with lots of shelves with gaps or bare. Tonight the whole bottled water row was nearly bare. Several brands of stuff I want buy are identified on the shelf but I've not seen them in stock for weeks. I feel like I live in another country or something. Talked to staff a while back --- "Just tell us what you want and we'll get it". Isn't the point that I don't need to help you manage your inventory. Why do I wast my time hiking across this vast warehouse to find something out of stock, and then be expected to talk to someone to tell them they need to renew their stock. read more

Went to the Walmart Super-center today and was pretty disappointed. Shelves were messy, floors were dirty. Looked like someone puked at the entrance. Stock was surprisingly poor. Lots of empty shelves. This may be due to the fact they it is still be stocked as it is a brand new store. Brand New but look twenty years old. K-mart's clothes are far nicer than Walmart offerings. Tried using the self check out and every item I scanned said see attendant. Gave up and went to the manned checkout counters. If there was a way to give negative stars I would. This only pertains to the pharmacy. Horrible customer service, they will look at you not say a word then a few mins later ask if you need assistance, for whatever reason they never seem to be able to just fill the medication when the doctor calls it in so they wait for you to come in trying to pick it up then tell you the doctor increased your meds and they don't think that's right so you have to then ask your doctor to recall in the meds. One time I gave all asked information 3 times and they couldn't find my meds until they realized 20 minutes later after a few phone calls that they had been putting in my birthday wrong. Never have I been able to just go and pick up my meds, always something wrong on their end. I wish I didn't have to use them. read more
