I have been going to the Brooking Walmart since it was next door in the smaller building that now belongs to Running's. The Brookings Walmart is like off-line Amazon. A place where you can find lots of selection and very good prices but it requires you to put shoes on and leave your house. Which I am sure accounts for some of the bad reviews. Perhaps it bothers people that they have to walk around and find things on their own, perhaps they suspect there will be a search box by the front door where they can type in "Beer" and some blue vested person will come running with a cart full of cans or bottles. All I know that I have always received the same level of customer service I have expected from a large box store: fair to good. When I want better service and products, I go to specialty stores and pay a whole lot more. So you just keep being you Walmart. The customers will continue to come and buy your goods, stop in at Subway, pick through the clearance aisle, impulse buy at the checkouts, and complain about every little thing.
