I was in need of 2 toiletry items which I'd forgotten to pack whilst visiting Rockbridge County for the weekend, thus made a stop at the Walmart Supercenter. I wondered for a bot prior to locating them, and then learned that I could not use my watch to pay, so had to go back to my vehicle to retrieve it. I didn't survey the entire store, but it seemed to contain eveeverything that a Supercenter should. Im fairly conconfident that items are priced similarly across the USA, however cannot attest that with absolute certainty. The checkout lines were short (a Fridand aftenoon at 530pm) and many were going through selfcheckout, but I'm too old for that. Several massive 18 wheel right were parked in the periphery, the parking lot seems to be at a slight slant, so avoid e.pty shopping cards which may gravitate toward and collide with your vehicle. Nice service. The people were helpful, though not extremely so. The cashiers were going very slowly and there were too many self checkouts. I went with my 73 yr old mam and she hates the self checkouts so she had to wait 15-ish minutes for the 1 person in front of her with about 7 items in their cart to finish so she could check out. they also did not have much stuff food wise. We were able to get basic name-brand snacks but could not find good butter, her favorite brand of bread, normal alfredo sauce, etc. The isles were also very confusing. I came to walmart with the intention of getting change (dollars for quarters). I went to check out. Cashier was very rude about not being able to do it, which would be fine if he just had been respectful about it. Have been spending over a thousand dollars a month here for years and I will not darken their door again. Rude manager was mad because we had a huge cart of groceries and that would not fit in the self check out areas. They are too small! She and two other people were fretting over some stupid impulse aisle while we waited, then she rudely said "I guess I get to do it!" She can take this sloppy dump with it's damaged, rotten merchandise, incompetent employees, self check out and receipt gestapo and cram it. I just moved from New Jersey to Lexington Va area and we have been shopping at this location Walmart for past 2.5 weeks. At first I thought ok they don't know us and we are outsiders. Now about to be 3 weeks of coming in and buying literally hundreds of dollars of food and stuff for our home. Every single time I come in with my family I feel like I am being stared at! I guess if you've been in one Walmart Supercenter you've been in them all. What I do like about Walmart is they will tailor to their location and provide local products from that particular area. I was able to pick up some frozen smoked chicken wings at this location, something I don't normally see at Walmart. Also, this location had a large variety of outdoor and hunting gear considering its that time of the year. The grocery section was fully stocked, the store was well lite and clean and the customer service had that southern hospitality to it. We were staying at the Steeles Tavern Manor and this Walmart is about 20 mins away from there. Be sure and stop by if you're in the area and need some supplies. read more

Employees so interested in being right, they lack common sense. Denied a 59 year old due to no Id for beer sales. Understood. The 58 year old spouse with Id is denied 10 minutes later cause they are together. I would suggest a manager has discretion. I don't mock people for their face tattoos or scream for managers. Never order through the app from this walmart. I placed my order at 3pm today, paid $19.95 for EXPRESS 2 hour or less delivery, and tipped the driver. At 5pm they notified me that there was a 45 minute delay. It is now 9pm my order is 4 hours late. I contacted walmart through the app and they're telling me they have not been able to find a driver, which would have been fine if they had told me 4 HOURS AGO. I've worked in Customer Service so I do my very best to be patient and courteous. I called the Lexington Walmart and was told I was being transferred to the delivery department, after 4 rings I was hung up on. I called back and whoever answered the phone must've been in a rush because she immediately told me to call 1-800 walmart. So I did, talked to a nice man there who told me "the driver is already on his way to the store to pick up your order!" This is not the first time this has happened to me at this walmart, you place an order hours prior to dinner expecting to be able to feed your children at a reasonable time, only for your order to be "delayed" and for walmart to tell you the best they can do is cancel your order. If you are unable to fulfill an order then you MUST NOT ACCEPT THE ORDER IN THE FIRST PLACE. Now, after 6 hours of bouncing from phone call to phone call with walmart my order is expected to be here at almost midnight. I'm not sure what this stores problem is but this would never fly at near any other grocery store. I'm extremely disappointed. Hope whatever driver/ manager who's causing this issue is promptly fired. I've filed a complaint with walmart, though Im sure that won't do a thing. Do better. read more

The store is near lots of other stores and some restaurants. The employees are visible on the floor. A few even approached me, offering help. The grocery side was large. The produce was decent. There were lots of clearance areas. The only area of imptovement that I noticed was needing more cashiers. read more

Pharmacist is awesome. Always fair price for Rx. They may not have all of the fancy options, contrast to Target, but their prices are highly competitive. For food, this location does compete against Lidl, right next door, yet both are fairly priced. read more

The Deli is the worst I've ever shopped. This review is being written after TWO conversations with management about this matter, so I feel that is a fair review and not slanted after one bad experience. The deli staff is inadequate in terms of number of employees at the counter. There is simply too much work for ONE person to handle . In my experiences I have only see more than one employee at the deli counter 3 times in one year. While there are other employees in the deli area they deal with the fried food only. in fact I have seen the person working at the fried food watch as the one employee at the deli slicing meat , with a long line of customers. Two final items that were both addressed to the management by myself; I was actually told on one occasion , by the employee at the deli / fried food area that the deli was " closed" because " somebody called in sick " . Even though she was at the counter and not busy she didn't want to help me Last point ; I had an employee who was not busy tell me that the deli was closed for renovation - the deli case was full of meat and cheese , however the light to the case was off . When I asked her name because I intended to alert the management that I wouldn't be served she opened the case and took my order. Bottom line is this, its tough work to slice meat and cheese in a timely manner and the staff assigned to the area don't want to do it. Had to come here to buy a desk lap.... bought the wrong one, returned it and bought another one.... we assumed that the lamp would be in the area of the light bulbs... NOPE... they were on the other side of the building and this store was HUGE!!! just moved here to Lexington Va, from th Lynchburg Va area iN early 2019. Up until Covid shutdown, my biggest complaint was getting shaken down every time I left the store. worse than Philadelphia and Richmond Walmarts by far. Post Covid I don't think this Walmart has ever opened and closed on time. If it says 11 you better be here by 10:30pm. They lock customers out anywhere from 10:30 to 11. Customers are treated pretty badly because there is no competition. I can literally say this is The worst Walmart Ive ever experience. i went back to Lynchburg a few times just to see if the 3 super stores were as bad and they were much better. I recognize this is Walmart, so customer feedback matters not one iota. But over the last several months, the Lexington store has tried to crack down on theft by scanning all receipts upon exit. Not a good look to us customers who aren't thieves, but I get it... Until this morning, when a woman overseeing the self-checkout questioned whether I scanned a particular item. When I told her I had - and showed her the actual item as it appeared on the monitor! - she took it out of my bag, took it to her station, and "checked" to see if I had actually scanned it. My response - "sure, why wouldn't I steal a $5 item on a $90 order?" - was met with silence and floor stares. And, of course, this was followed up by the obligatory electronic pat-down at the door. Hey, Lexington Walmart: if you don't want me to steal something, don't let me check out my own stuff. And if you let me check out my own stuff, don't treat me like a damn criminal throughout my visit to your store. Because there are other places in town to shop. read more

This is a Walmart super center but you won't find it on yelp under Walmart, Walmart super centers or grocery store. I do 80% of my grocery shopping here. It's a clean store helpful staff unless your returning something then it's all sad faces. When it comes to Walmarts this one is a bit of a joke. It is hard to find help on the floor when you need it, as there is rarely any sales associates on the floor, I am not quite for sure if they are partying in the back, the store manager isn't scheduling anyone or what but it is a bit aggravating. When you can find them it appears they are currently tasked forth fifty assignments and to busy to help. Managers are at best rude. And it is too hard to get anything that is locked up If you are insistent on shopping at Walmart you are better off hopping over to the next Walmart over. read more

Aside from some of the most ignorant, unsocialized, rude and inept pharmacy staff I have ever encountered, the rest of the store is absolutely great! Efficient, courteous cashiers, helpful associates when seeking hard to find items, pleasant associates asking if you are finding everything you need, or just greeting customers and being friendly. I have shopped at Walmart Supercenters in at least 25 states. In Virginia alone, I've been a customer at more than a dozen of them. The Walmart Supercenter in Lexington, Virginia, is the--THE--worst-managed Walmart I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with. The fact that it's the only Walmart in the town where I live makes it worse. The Store Manager--whose name, unfortunately, I don't know or else I'd put it in this review--is slumbering soundly. S/he is sleepwalking and clueless. There are routinely long lines of customers waiting to check out at this store, yet the Store Manager never adds checkers to speed up the check-out process. Why should I stand in line for twenty minutes (or more) with just a couple of items in my cart. I leave the cart with the items in it and go somewhere else. I don't care if I have to pay more. My time is worth more than whatever it costs me. I've seen other people give up in disgust, leave their carts, and walk out of the store. Sam Walton must be spinning in his grave. Avoid this Walmart at all costs! They are not trained well you'll end up spending a lot of time in line because they can't seem to ring things up properly. And the customer is always wrong! I wasted 20 minutes today and one of the issues was an eight pack value pack bird suet feeder. The girl said she had never scene them sold as a pack. And that they are only sold individually. Showed her that it said eight pack value pack on the box. She still insisted that the supervisor needed to approve the purchase. The supervisor had issues approving the purchase and I told them to just go to the bird feed aisle and look! Seriously, such incompetence!! If I could give them no stars I would! I just tried to order a photo from the photo center TWO days ago and it still isn't ready or even printed. The first time I went to go pick it up yesterday there was a scratch through the photo so i obviously did not buy it. Then I ordered it again and the ticket said it would take an hour... So you would think that 24 hours later... It would be done. Think again! I waited for 30 more minutes as the girl behind the counter said they would print it again right then and it would take less than 10 minutes. 40 minutes later I am leaving empty handed. To make matters worse no one told me what was going on. I would be more understanding if they told me that the first print didn't turn out right and they had to reprint it. Nope... They just let me stand there for 30 minutes without saying anything to me. On top of that, the girl behind the counter was extremely rude! And there were about 8 employees standing around...
