Who knew I'd get jumped at the Ephrata Walmart, by a cute black bear!

Good. A bit better than the one on Lincoln Hwy., in Lancaster. Because they're ball busters.

It's a good place to stop and shop. Just try not to buy the whole store while you're at it. Lol. It's convenient.

Very nice clean Walmart. A lot has changed since used to come here 6 years ago. Feels cleaner and customer service are nicer.

I've been here several times since discovering it late last year and have my daughter shopping here now as well. I will note that it's quite a distance from our home in Landisville, so it has to be impressive for us both to make the long trek. Some things to know, both positive and negative; The area is high in Plain population, who for the most part do not participate in mask wearing. I did have some concerns going in as immediately I saw several customers not masked but it wasn't crowded so I felt ok. The store itself is plain owned and while the employees wear shields, some which barely cover their nose, they do not wear masks. The trend of not wearing a mask has rubbed off on non-plain folk as well, as it seems to be acceptable. This is by far my biggest gripe about this store. While it is smaller than a Giant it does have all the departments. Plus an area off to the side of non-food items. They even have a small section of Avon! Inventory changes very frequently. My daughter scored 6- packs of Pedisure for $1.99 which run around $13 at the store on a Tuesday. By the time I got there on Thurs there were none left. The majority of the shelf staple food is not expired or damaged but you do need to check frozen, fresh, and their meats as they tend to be at, near, or past expiration. Prices are exceptional. I mean like really, really good on the majority of their items. Some single serve snacks are 5 or 10 for $1 and area great for packing lunches and to keep in the car for road trips. Cleaners, toilet papers, paper supplies, and the like tend to run higher than a regular store. Some of my favorite things to buy that I can't find elsewhere: bulk made (their own brand) frozen items such as chicken croquettes, nuggets, and potato products ready to bake. I get their crinkle cut Tuscan herb potato coins every visit. A bag for .88 cents makes a good side dish for my family of six. Good on their own but add a ranch dipping sauce and you'll yearn for them. Frozen homemade cookie dough is also a winner and the variety change from week to week. They also have freshly cut/frozen veggie (red onions, okra, fresh off the cob corn, etc.) and fruits for smoothies, including elderberry. How often do you find freshly frozen elderberries anywhere?!? A small deli is also not to be missed and your order is sliced fresh. Additionally they have a deli case with precut and packaged lunch meats and cheeses. Be sure to pick up one of their house made potato salads - the cheese/bacon variety is to die for! Freshly made, prepackaged subs are get to grab for on the go. Beside the deli is a whole other refrigerated room that's easy to miss (my daughter did) that has more fresh produce, yogurts, deli salads, etc. Especially with the yogurt check the dates, they tend to be well past expiration, but literally cost pennies. Aside from the low prices and good selection they have a bagger at each register! If you follow me you know that's something I really appreciate! Negatives aside the mask wearing include; no soap in the ladies room on one occasion (especially bothersome since they prepare so much food in house) and no Sunday hours. They also don't put cooking directions on all of their house made frozen items. Otherwise my favorite discount grocer to date.

I stopped in today and noticed they had homegrown cauliflower for $3.99 which was the same price as my local grocery store had; however Glenwood's was all brown. Stopped at Aldi's for a few things after not finding them at the discount store down the street…read more Although Giant is next door I choose Aldi's because I like their cut mangos. They cut them at the peak of perfection and for only $3.99 a package it's a healthy affordable snack. Giant tends to cut theirs too early and therefore never ripen properly. Aside from mangos I needed almond milk, hamburger, chicken thighs, and fresh cilantro. I'm not really a fan of Aldi's because it's hard to do a weeks' worth of shopping here plus the deposit on the cart and not offering free bags is a nuisance. This was my first time at this location. I was surprised to see the fresh produce was picked thru. Many selections were empty. Including my beloved sliced mangos and cilantro. The meat dept was priced really high, but I was able to find organic, grass fed hamburger at a reasonable price and much less than non-organic which makes no sense. I had my own bags with me but the 2 half gallons of milk were heavy and awkward to hold and carry. There was only one lone cashier and the line extended into the shopping isle. A customer that was checking out and at the register was chatting away with the previous customer thus delaying her payment, while everyone in line just stood there. The cashier did nothing to hurry her along. Sighs echoed from all of us waiting and was testing my patience level. When it was my turn I arranged my reusable bags in the cashier's cart so all she had to do was drop the items in after scanning. Instead she proceeded to dump everything in the cart beside my bags. When I asked her to please place them in the bags, she refused, uttering about some customer "policy". I've found other locations will place items in the bags IF you arrange them in the cart. What kind of "policy" is so anti customer service focused that they only have one cashier, who sits down the whole time no less, AND is allowed to refuse to put items in the bags?!? In fact she went out of her way to drop them away from the bag. To dump in the bag or beside it takes the same amount of effort. So now I have to hold up the line scooping my items up myself so she could have her coveted cart back. Ugh! I'm graciously giving 2 stars because they offered hand sanitizer and I do love those mangos. But seriously Aldi's - you need to start putting your customers first!

I was in the Ephrata store today and at 2pm there were only two registers with a cashier, the rest were self checkout and there seemed to be only one person running around to clear errors on them. Second problem is the parking lot and lack of parking spaces when the store is crowded. As a handicapped person I sometimes pull in to the lot and leave and go to Redners next door since their parking lot is nor on a hill and they have nore handicapped spaces.

Chris and Vicky are top notch, and Megan, Martha, Kalyn, Lili and Ben are always 'on the ball' in the customer service department. Another great feature is a fantastic Pharmacy staff: Angelo and his crew are ALWAYS available for questions and concerns, even going so far as to find alternative options for pharmaceutical price reductions.

On average it's been taking 20 minutes longer to shop. I found items past the sell by date and told an associate, she had no clue where to look for the date! Another issue is with over packing the bags with either heavy items or to a point of over filling. We use the bags purchased from them so as not to use the throw away bags. When we checkout we always tell the cashier not to make them heavy, but they don't listen. I had to repack three bags to make the either manageable or so they don't crush items. We have been shopping here since 2019 so it's not easy to change but it's time.
