Sure the stuff may be really close to the expiration date, or the package may have a ding/dent in it, but the food is every bit as good as it would have been if you had paid full price for it at the major chain. Don't let the humble-looking facade fool you. Whether you need toiletries, protein bars, chicken breasts, cereal, or dessert; Discount Grocery Outlet has you covered. Almost everything there is name brand, and it's almost all priced well below the major grocery chains. The staff is all extremely friendly, and willing to help any given time you need them. If you prefer to avoid using plastic bags, they're happy to give you some of their cardboard boxes to take your purchases home in. One important thing to remember though, is that just because you found something there one time, doesn't mean it will be there forever. Unlike the big box stores, Discount Grocery Outlet doesn't have the constant supply of these items straight from the manufacturer. At the same time, the variety is great to see, and makes it an adventure going in every time. The only thing that keeps me from giving them five stars is that the prices seem to have crept up a little bit since an article in the newspaper a year or so ago, spotlighting discount grocery stores such as this one. Discount Grocery Outlet was one of the main focuses of the article, and since there it seems as though they felt like the prices should increase to reflect their recent article mention.

I have met people who swear by the deals they have gotten in these stores. Me? Not so much. Tuna can for $1 is not a deal, it's everyday at most groceries if not cheaper. Tools and toys are junk. You get what you pay for. I usually stop by one of these stores for a food storage vessel to transport a covered dish that I don't expect to be returned. OK that's the general category of what you see. This location first struck me as claustrophobic. The aisles are real narrow. If there is any stock on the floor, a cart or wheelchair could not get by. I just needed a couple disposable toys to keep a kids interest until they broke. I got 4 for $5. Maybe the key is to expect an hours use out of every dollar spent. Parking lot was clean, and so was the floor. Sometimes you find sticky, but not here. Also no stuffy smell of items that came out of a basement. There was food, but I don't eat or grocery shop here. Something that blew me away was the gift card selection. If I didn't care about fuel points, or needed a hard to find Gift Card, this is it.
