This business is definitely both. They have a plethora of Texas cuts of meat sourced from Texas ranches, They have both pre-packaged and counter-fresh. On the flip side, they also have an abundance of fajitas, chorizo, al pastor, and other Mexican meats, typically found at traditional taquerias. We bought their in-house recipe chorizo and a bacon-wrapped chicken breast stuffed with jalapeños and pepper Jack cheese. We haven't cooked the chicken yet but I hope it's as spicy as it sounds. The butcher is in Monday - Friday but they're open 7 days a week. If you don't live in town but want to call ahead, they'll have you're order ready when you arrive. This is perfect for all the hunters that visit San Saba from October - January. They also have a small selection of Mexican brand groceries that are not available at the local grocery store. This is a great business addition for San Saba. They are conveniently located about 1 mile west of downtown on Hwy 190. Bottom line - A great combination of an American and Mexican Butcher shop. Brookshire's tonic water was listed at $1.39, but I was charged $2.19, which is a 58% increase. Neither item appeared not to be on sale. When I brought this to the attention of the assistant manager, I was informed that the higher price was due to not having a rewards card. This is contrary to what I was told approximately two years ago, which was that, "The Thank You Card Program was being discontinued at the end of the year." It is very dishonest for a store to serve customers and commuters in this small community neighbor to a church so unorthodox, especially when vulnerable people like seniors and the elderly are involved. Their actions are not only a privacy invasion but also highly deceptive and discriminating .

The sidewalk by the entrance to the store was filled with foul smelling cigarette smoke. You could smell it all the way inside the door. It has been that way every time I have come for the past two months. I've come on different days of the week and at different times. I asked the manager today about the situation with the man smoking on the bench in front of their door. He is there every day. It smells awful. She was emphatic that Brookshire's does not care if the smoke is offensive to their customers. She said she doesn't care if they lose customers because of it. She said that there is nothing that she will do about it. I said I may go somewhere else to shop and she said OK. No apologies or offers to help with the situation. She was condescending and seemed to enjoy telling me that she would do nothing to make the situation better. I've shopped here for 40 years and I'm really sad about shopping somewhere else but it was really a bad experience except for my sacker and checker. I don't know the manager's name.
