I was coming back from Squeaky Clean Laundry and needed some moisturizing gel for my dry and scaly scalp. And once I was here, why not look around? 3. Being on a trip away from home and being bored. This Walmart was what you'd expect, except it was not so crowded, with easy parking and checkout. Store staff were very nice as well.

About the only strange thing was the kids play area, it was filled with young guys - mid to late teens, and about 8-10 of them. They seemed to be hanging out in there, and when we came near, they made no attempt to move. An employee helped me to the car with some heavy stuff. In loading my purchases into the trunk, she ripped out the wires to the backup camera. I said immediately to her, "Hey, you just broke my backup camera." She said a quick, "Sorry" and trotted back to the store at closing time. I called in to the management immediately upon getting home. The video apparently told the managers which employee it was. I had to return twice to have two separate managers look at it. I was told that I had to get two estimates for repair--a bit of a hassle, but I did it. Both estimates were hundreds of dollars. The managers offered me a $50 gift certificate. I turned it down. I am shocked that this company has such poor customer service. I will probably have to file in small claims court.

The military surplus part of this store is not much more than a couple short aisles. Past that, Jax has loads of outdoor gear, fishing and hunting inventory, clothing, footwear, and even a corner for Boy and Girl scout supplies. It's all very high quality merchandise and a good value. I came in looking for some Carhartt pants, which they don't currently stock. I left very impressed and with a cool and nicely priced little Gerber knife. I found store staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'll be back in Ames in a few months (or so), and I'm be sure to stop in again. I'm sure there will be new stuff to admire or goods that I missed during the last visit. And there's no need to drive all the way to Des Moines.

He had them set it aside for us and we returned. my husband bought the $48 part and asked if they could install it. It was clear they didn't want to do it and he was given a very vague answer of how they were too busy even though there were no other people in the store. My husband paid for the part and left.
