At that point, it stopped feeling like a misunderstanding and started feeling extremely targeted and discriminatory. Being told that BOTH forms of government-issued identification were somehow not acceptable was beyond unreasonable and honestly humiliating. The way this situation was handled lacked professionalism, respect, and basic human decency. I left feeling singled out and uncomfortable, and I genuinely believe the treatment I received could be perceived as racial profiling. Policies are one thing, but treating customers with dignity should be the bare minimum. I hope management seriously addresses this so nobody else has to experience what I did.

Once in awhile, you'll catch something for 4 for $1 or something (such as the Christmas candy canes they have on clearance right now), but everything in their store is $1. It makes it honestly pretty easy to shop since I'm never wondering about the price tag. This is a nice-looking Dollar Tree that has quite a bit of room on the inside. You can find name-brand items like Pop-Tarts and whatnot, but in some cases, their packaging/box size has been reduced to make it cost-effective to sell for a dollar. This store has stationary, automobile, hardware, some clothes, dishes, beauty supplies, cleaning supplies, lots of food including frozen food, party supplies, kids toys, books, kitchen gadgets, pregnancy tests, and more. I would very, very highly recommend Dollar Tree as the place to get party supplies. They have a plethora of color options and it's all very cheap. They have tablecloths, plastic silverware, plates, noisemakers, and lots of other stuff. It's seriously a fantastic way to do a "decorated" party on the cheap. I came here looking for pins for sewing, but they don't have any. In the past, I've come here for some of their kitchen supplies. Getting a strainer and measuring cups for a dollar is a fantastically good price. When I've come, it's usually clean-ish. It's not immaculate, but it's clean. Shelves are usually pretty organized, and it's not like stuff is strewn all over the place. Usually most things are in-stock and ready to be purchased. I like the parking lot. It's large and makes it easy to get around without fussing with horrible hills or bad traffic like the other dollar store in town. As a note, I don't think they have a bathroom here. For cyclists, they do not have a bicycle rack, but they have long, metal poles that support the outside of the building that you can lock your bike to. I've locked them there in the past without any issue. Final thoughts: It's a good place to pick up random items for $1. You have to make sure what you're buying is worth a dollar as, in some cases, it seems like you might be able to get some of these items cheaper elsewhere. As a whole, though, you definitely save money by shopping at Dollar Tree for lots of household supplies instead of going to another big box store. They don't have enough grocery selection to do all of your grocery shopping here, but they do have a lot of various household items. I would especially recommend this place to anyone moving into a new home who needs household supplies.

Everything is laid out about-ish the same that Borders used to have it laid out. There's music and movies in the same spot, the children's area in the same spot, the coffee and seating in the same spot, and of course, the bathrooms haven't moved. Shopping here is nice. They have a ton of clearance, but that seems to be standard for a lot of bookstores. Prices are pretty standard for books (higher than online), but they also are lower than prices I've seen at Barnes & Noble, so that's a positive. It was easy to locate the area that I was looking for. There are large signs on top of shelves that let you know what type of books are on there. They have a pretty large biblical/Christian section which I found surprising. It's larger than quite a lot of the other sections, and I think it actually might be getting close to the size of some of the fiction sections. Over in the Transportation section, I found what I was looking for pretty easily. They even had a good selection. However, the books were not in order like they should have been. Books about airplanes were strewn throughout and between books about motorcycles, trains, and cars. They were in the right section (Transportation), but definitely not organized how they should have been. So if you're looking for a specific book, make sure you look through the whole section. There were quite a few Clearance books, and I came out with 5 books instead of the original 1 I was looking for. Most of their clearance is very reasonably priced at about 50% to 75% off the original price. The books are in decent shape too. I had a really fun time looking through clearance. Check-out was nice and simple. They asked me to sign up for their membership program which I declined. They also offered me to sign up for their "3 free magazines" deal, but none of that was particularly pushed on me. They were really friendly about it and didn't push when I said no. Staff was extremely friendly and I was greeted on multiple occasions. Didn't try out the coffee area or look through the Children's area. Final thoughts: I'd definitely come back. The prices are higher than what I could get online, but there's something to be said for in-store book stores. I love being able to buy a book locally and help support the local economy as well. Plus, looking through Clearance is easily one of my favorite aspects of bookstores. I came out with 5 new books at least than $40; that's definitely amazing for book prices. I'm glad Ames still has a local bookstore.

I realize you have to have higher prices to keep a small store open in a small town. Their attention to the customer has won me over and I will stop back in.
