Coming from the "STICKS," aka Springfield, this place is semi-overwhelming at first, then you remember that it's not much different (set-up wise) from a Meijer or (gasp!) Super Walmart. They DO have wonderful, expanded deli, bakery, health food, and produce sections, compared to a regular Kroger, and I found myself walking around like I was in a museum (don't get out much......!!) Ironically, I didn't find what I needed (a specialty vitamin/supplement) and wound up going across the street to CVS!! Nice, clean, well-organized spot. Bonus points for the bank (Fifth-Third... Mine!!), walk in health clinic, (nice!) Pharmacy, Starbucks (cozy...), and jewelry store (whaaaaaaat?!?). If I lived here, I think I'd be in danger of taking EVEN more time (procrastinating) than I already do wandering the aisles of my local food museum... errrrrrrr....... (not so)supermarket!!

MIL scored everything but shallots and after perusing the store, I asked a very kind and helpful young man about the Advent Calendars because I knew they hit the shelves on Advent Day (11/03 I believe) each year and sell out quickly. He said, yup, they were all gone as soon as they stocked them on Advent Day. :( I knew this would be an issue with all the supply chain problems stores are facing these days, so I wasn't surprised. In case you are curious, the calendars are YUMMY! They are ~ 14.99 in store and ~ 60.00 thru vendors such as Amazon. Aldi also has wine advent calendars and gin advent calendars (in select markets for both of those - this store had neither that I saw) and readily available chocolate advent calendars which I think I saw here, but am not 100% sure - will upload photo shortly. I love the "2 buck chuck" wines at the SE Huntsville AL Aldi (well one of several really) and got a bottle of 9.99 pinot grigo that was not bad from this Aldi. [I did notice their wine prices were higher than the store I'm referencing in AL; however this store had a larger selection. Also, they seem to pick items that are old or at least, not the freshest, especially where produce is concerned. Last, when I order potato chips, bread or similar fragile items, they always arrive crushed as they obviously get heavier items placed on top of them at some point in the process of gathering the food. I like Aldi prices but they like to drop off my order and leave without even letting me know they are here. They should be courteous enough to ring the doorbell and let me check the items instead of stacking them in front of the door making it difficult to open the door. I'm a paralyzed veteran confined to a wheelchair and have a great deal of difficulty getting my groceries when they do this. When I catch them there I ask them to, at least set the items inside the door and stay long enough to inventory what I have received but the driver;s are always in a hurry to drop off and leave as soon as possible.
