Okay, so I swore I would never review WalMart. I mean, it's WalMart, right? We've all been there,…read morewe've all stood in a long line with slow cashiers and we have all walked a hundred miles in this store just to get milk. We have also all marveled at the human species while in this ginormous store. We've been there, done that. The game changer for me, though, was the order pickup tower that was recently installed. WOW-WE! Before the tower when you ordered something online for store pickup, you had certain hurdles you had to jump over to get your item. You had to scan in, wait for someone to acknowledge you, show you ID, wait while they searched through lockers to find your item and then you were good to go. With the tower, you scan in the barcode that has been emailed to you. Your product is rotated around and then scooped into a bin and the bin releases into an opening in the tower. You simply retrieve your item and *POOF* off you go. It took me under two minutes to get my item. Seriously, it was that fast. It was fun watching the item being retrieved, too. The best part about this new service is you do not have to wait for someone to wait on you. You don't have to wait for fumbling clerks to find a locker key, rummage through other items to retrieve your product. It is quite an incredible system. I actually might order more things just so I can use it again. LOL. At this point in time, there are only 150 of these towers in operation throughout the United States. I am just grateful there is one in Lawrence. I am one of those techy geek people and WalMart just knocked it out of the park!

Shelves were decently stocked and I had no problem finding stuff in the deli aisle, produce and finally, automotive for something to put in the van. Of course, self-checkout. For that reason I love them. The reason I don't love them is because (not exclusive to this location, they're all like this) TJ Maxx is the stuff claustrophobia is made from. And I'm not even claustrophobic. It's great that they have so many things that the store is practically bursting at the seams, but the isles are so narrow that you can barely fit a cart down most of them, and they've got pretty small carts. I can't tell you how many times I've had to abandon all hope of looking down an isle just because someone else was already in it. I say "excuse me" and "I'm sorry" more times in this store than every other place I've ever shopped combined. For this reason I try to shop there during the early morning hours on a weekday, just to avoid getting trapped in an isle by other shoppers or staff just trying to do their job. Again, it's not just this location. Every TJ Maxx is like this. Homegoods as well. I've been to TJ Maxx stores in other cities where they have twice the square footage and the tight layout is the same. This is easily one of my favorite places in Mountain Home to shop for home decor and whatnot, and this is also one of my most dreaded places to shop. I pretty much have to give myself a pep-talk before going inside. Despite the tight quarters, I really do like this store. The staff is super friendly. Prices are great. They get in some really amazing things. I just wish the isles were wide enough to accommodate more than one person at a time.

The lady in the dressing room area was a little awkward and didn't smile but the rest of the staff was very nice, especially the woman who rang us up when we checked out. She was bubbly and sweet. They have a really great selection of clothes for women, but I would say it's mostly a woman store. There isn't as much of a selection for men and youngsters but it's perfect for a lady's shopping day. They also have an isle with a good selection of natural vitamins and supplements, which I thought was pretty neat.

There's even a section for individual drinks by the front door. The store was recently remodeled in the past few years, and the entrance looks great. There's always parking available, and the store can be easily reached through the main driving loop throughout town. This location is always clean and uncrowded, and the employees are helpful if you ever need anything. Town and Country is definitely a hidden gem, and well worth the trip if you ever need to drop by.
