They have all the organic foods I like to add to my healthy diet. Great, tasty whole grain breads, tortillas, organic fruit, sweet potatoes, cabbage, celery, lettuce, tempee, local eggs, bulk spices (no weird additives or GMOs, folks!) & snacks.. and that's just for starters. Plus, every time I walk in I feel better. The place is clean, peaceful, and it's the prettiest local store to walk around and shop. I buy little healthy candies & other gifts there, made by other local artisans. If you're in the area, stop by because you'll be glad you did. And do look up on the roof - you'll see solar panels galore!

The deli staff were all incredibly sweet and fun. We got fried chicken, catfish, mashed potatoes, macaroni, and all of it was SO good. It is very small and doesn't have the best selection of some things. The pet section, for example is very small, no large cans of wet cat food, only the tiny packs. The staff wasn't over friendly but they weren't rude either, just in the middle somewhere, which is fine. We weren't sure how the shopping carts work, I think you have to pay a Quarter to use them? They're all chained together outside, with little slots, I guess for coins. A bit odd, I've never seen a store charge for borrowing a shopping cart. Maybe I just didn't know how it works, it was our first time at an Aldis. Anyway, great for saving money but bring your own bags because they also charge 12 cents a bag to use theirs.

Fun, Funky & Frugal…read more Located just outside the Thayer city limits (no city sales tax, yay!), Value Seekers has everything from soup to nuts and maybe even the kitchen sink too! The experience is like a small boutique in a mall crossed with a salvage grocery store. But this is unlike any other salvage grocery you've ever been to; this one is CLEAN and we'll ORGANIZED! You never know what you're gonna find there. It could be a great deal on beef jerky, a fashionable turquoise-colored purse and matching jewelry, or a giant shop fan big enough to push a swamp boat (if you can get an extension cord long enough). Toys for the kids, shoes for the whole family, scarves and rings for mom, tools and gardening items for dad, and even pet food and toys for Fido and Kitty. Groceries are cheap and regularly checked for freshness. Candy galore! When I put together my weekly shopping list, I go to Value Seekers first to get what I can because my dollar goes further there. Then I go to the "normal" grocery stores for anything Value Seekers might not have. The owners and employees are friendly and engaging as all get-out and genuinely care about their customers. Overall, an awesome experience.

So the spouse decided to buy a sandwich to accompany our chips and beverage. A half-inch stack of deli turkey meat and two slices of American cheese sat between two thick, fresh pieces of white bread in a tightly saran'd wrapper. I added mustard and light Mayo, cut it in half, and we ate until our stomachs "thanked" us. Delicious! The spouse said the market itself was exceptionally clean, the shelves stocked and blocked and the meat case was filled with excellent cuts. There's an adjacent grab 'n go coffee mart with snacks in the event a thirsty traveler needs a quick refreshment along scenic Highway 60.
