Walmart has its good side but also has its bad side. Having to drive an hour round trip to get basic groceries when I have one locally

We ordered a cake for our daughters 12th birthday and we were a little behind on the ordering. Went into Walmart Bakery on the the Wednesday before Easter Sunday. They told me that they were flooded with orders, I told them I wanted a simple two teir, 10 in cake. Something simple with with a "12" just put on the top. They said that could do it. Picked up the the cake on Friday and was it beautiful. The detail with the frosting was simple and beautiful. Everything my daughter wanted! And did it taste amazing! I was just amazed by the job the job they did, how they squeezed us in, and how it tasted for her party. In December I went to Hyvee for our other daughters birthday. We bought a half sheet cake, with a Grinch placed on it. It was a thin, half a quarter sheet. I swear they charged me for a half a sheet, in which I did order. It tasted awful, and have never been so embarrassed at a party. But more, my daughter was disappointed . I will NEVER go to Hyvee again. The store was dirty I was really surprised this is the first Walmart that I've been in that looked bad customer service couldn't return a couple items because the line was so long and we had waited a long time and they never called anybody up to help so we left I talked to a coach there and told them what happened and that they should have at least two people in there to help when there's that many customers waiting and she said she'd look into it and she said that she guessed they should trade more people to help in there seriously yes you should because customers are number one at every Walmart store and customer should never have to wait like that read more

Went there yesterday for groceries. Get up to the checkout and they had one checker with a line of 11 carts waiting. The self-service checkouts were also backed up with 4-5 carts in line, as some weren't working. Waited about 10 mins and moved up one cart. At this point, I saw 4 associates BSing in front of the Services dept. I walked up to the group and asked if another check-out could be opened up. At this point the woman watching checkouts named Annette said "no, but we're hiring" which the 3 others thought was funny, I said "here's a better idea, why don't you pitch in?" and walked away. It took 23 mins to finally reach the checkout and right when I do that Annette decides then she would open up a lane in which she ran the register. Both the lady in front of me and the man behind me in line both made comments as to how absurd this all was and her opening the other lane when the line had reduced to about 4 carts. I went there and purchased a $45 wifi router. The purchase was simple enough but like many people I lost my receipt when I needed to return it. I walked in the front and the door sensor went off I stopped and waited for an employee. They said to continue on to customer service. When I got there I was told that nothing could be done without a receipt. They treated me as if I stole this thing. They weren't willing to compromise. They said its store policy but when I looked online it says all I need is a photo ID and I could get store credit which is all I was asking for. Their online helpline simply noted the situation but did nothing to resolve it. read more

I order a tv for pick up it had factory issues so i had no choice but to return right away i called up the store and i got the grouchest man who answered in short i had to come in to customer service. The way i was treated was embarrassing. I was yelled at and pretty much blamed for the factory issues. He refused to help me grab a new tv or even find someone who could help me. I couldnt even exchange it. I had to buy ANOTHER tv and wait for my money to return on my card a week later. I never felt so belittled by someone who was supposed to provide a service and made me feel like i was just a waste of time. Ill never return to the customer service again if i see him working while needing any assistance. I felt so vulnerable and hopless since it was 7:30pm i was stuck with only him working. Walmart has such low standards hiring staff to represent their company and its sad they have to treat people with such low worth. read more

What's going on? I have purchased several products at this location that after I got home saw they had expired! AIso, Wal-Mart phasing out the name brand products I choose to buy? It's difficult to find cheese, chips etc., that is made by someone other than Wal-Mart! The produce aisle has also gone down hill. Yesterday I had my fingers poking right into the mushy lemons! I've asked about the meyer lemons they had listed online as available at this store. I was told by the employee how she does not know whats going on because shes been gone. She made about 5 excuses, then I offered to go look in back for the dang lemons! Sheesh! I returned to this store 4 - 5 times after seeing the availability online. No one can help I guess? I reached out online too and was ignored. At Wal-Mart when I smell the fruit for ripeness, I get nauseated. The peaches, cantaloupe and pears have no smell or ripeness! I buy them and wait a long time for them to ripen. The outside gets mold and the inside has no flavor and is crunchy! Not a quality you look for in a peach, cantaloupe or pear! The last 2 watermelons I bought there were no good. I threw the 2nd whole one in the garbage as they were way too over ripe! I am going to start supporting local businesses that care about us by purchasing more at Nelson's, the farmers market or HyVee instead. read more

I had a flat tire just across the Iowa/Minn border and had to be towed to Albert Lea to get it fixed, the two tire shops which were closer were closed and I was dropped off at Walmart. Kyle and a gentleman with white hair and beard did everything they could to get me on the road, they did not have my tire size and ended up putting the donut tire on. They was no charge and they would not take any tip from me for what I thought was above and beyond what they had to do. I got home Saturday night and my family was there waiting, I was three hours late but at least I got home. Can't say enough on how much I appreciated the service I received. read more
