So I have always enjoyed walking around Woodbury Lakes . It's calm and there's a few stores that…read moreare nice to stop by. This outdoor mall is dying and today was the first I've been very frustrated with them . Not only are there a lot of vacant spots but they need to work on some signage too. I came to pick up some paper at Michaels and decided since my dog was in the car to take him for quick walk around the property. Let him stretch his legs . Had no intentions of going into any store and he's a calm dog so he wasn't going to disturb anywhere . No where on property were there signs saying anything about dogs not being allowed on property . It's an outdoor mall. A security guard stopped me and asked if I was blind . I'm sure he was trying to be nice and I have very little to say about him . He proceeded to tell me he was told to tell me that dogs were not allowed on the property . Wow ... I politely said I wasn't aware and there should be signs then walked my dog back to the car . This is dying location and it's sad to see that but now I really am not tempted to come back and shop here . Who asks if another person is blind ? It can be perceived in several ways. The best way to approach was to ask if my dog was a service animal . Wow....

I would know. :) Among the places I've been are H&M, Elodie Boutique (one of the only truly local businesses here!), DSW, Gap/Gap Body, LOFT, Banana Republic, Francesca's, Michaels, some sushi restaurant, Charming Charlie's, Victoria Secret, Express and New York & Co. Oh, and the ice cream place, Maggie Moo's. Objectively, the design of Woodbury Lakes is absurd for wintertime shopping. If it's busy, you usually have to park pretty far away and walk because there is almost never going to be spot on the main "street." I like it a lot in the summer though, because it doesn't have the mall madness atmosphere that you find in indoor malls and the parking lot madness of traditional strip malls. I just park near one end and happily stroll to the other. I'm told they do some crazy things around the holidays too... like, with real reindeer?

There's only a handful of actual stores there, and most of the brands/stores they have on the sign outside aren't there anymore. A good chunk of the closed storefronts have signs still up, briefly giving the illusion the mall isn't so vacant. The outlets I did go in really didn't offer much in the way of variety or discounts. I was there mid-day on a weekday and the space with the mall offices was dark with the lights out, they weren't even keeping the mall offices open and staffed apparently. The place is starting to look falling apart and decrepit. There are no real food options at this mall. No food court, no restaurants. . .just a McDonalds next to the mall. I wonder what is even keeping the place open, there's no way that with just a handful of stores this place should still manage to even stay open.

Mall of America® - I'm looking at this coming from IKEA, realize it's the Upper Midwest, and see an MOA venue named "Flyover." Anyone else find this humorous?

It was such an incredible experience it really makes you feel like you're flying, and the visuals are so realistic. Definitely a must-do if you visit! I also loved all the food options. There are so many places to choose from, and everything I had was delicious. It's nice being able to take a break from walking around and enjoy a good meal without even leaving the mall.Another favorite was the axe throwing it was SO fun and something different from the usual mall activities. It added a really exciting, adventurous vibe to the day and made the whole experience even more memorable. The atmosphere throughout the mall is lively, clean, and full of energy. There's something for everyone shopping, entertainment, food, and unique attractions all in one place. It's perfect for a fun day out with friends or family.I would 100% recommend visiting, and I can't wait to go back and try even more things next time!

The cool thing about this is that you can catch the train right into the place just about. I had a 9:30 flight that was arriving in to Minneapolis and of course I couldn't check into my hotel. I bought an all day train pass and made my way. The coolest thing is that there are lockers of various sizes so you can store your luggage (for a nominal fee) and wander around this massive mall, got to about 1/3rd of it. I was taken back to the the 90's with the old school music playing and some of the stores that I thought didn't exist anymore. There were at least two of the same store but just on different levels or sides of the part of the mall I was in. The amusement park in the mall with the rollercoaster and kiddie rides and roaming characters was awesome. I went back the aquarium, which I would have gone into but it was filled with kids, and honestly it was too early :) Had a great meal at the crepe restaurant. If I was a senior retired, its a great nifty 50s walking spot or just getting out people watch. I would definitely try to go back to see the other parts and to stay the hell out of the cold weather this California gal is not used too.

However; I also love coming randomly throughout the year to get updated clothing items. I typically like to check out under Armour and Nike, the Columbia store also has a separate outlet location as well. Recently, I feel like prices haven't been nearly as good as they used to, but in this economy, who can blame them. I would love to see a little bit more variation in the food court, it's mostly Asian cuisines and Cinnabon. All delicious but would love to see some more options. There's a ton of parking, but if you come on a busy weekend, you may not notice and still have to park far away. Bummed to see some recent retailers, leaving, they've been replaced with stores that my opinion were is great. Overall, a decent shopping trip, it's also in a great location.
