This place RULES. I love everything about it. Great deals. Rad music. Excellent selection of…read morevintage items in excellent condition! Outstanding customer service too. Feeling very special I can't wait to return and discover more unforgettable treasures! I'm so happy. Purchased two beautiful handmade purses, two vintage shirts, and an exquisite 3M Bookshelf Game that's over 60 years old and still looks BRAND NEW! How cool is that?

I went to the Riverside Thrift Shop today. Apparently, it opened only a few months ago. Being fresh and new, by all rights, they should be totally on top of their game. 1) The main problem is it's too darn small. It's little more than one small narrow room. (I think my living room at home is bigger than this store!) As a result, there isn't much inventory...mostly garage sale type stuff...not enough to pick through and find something you might like. There's a HUGE warehouse in back of this building. If THAT was part of the store and filled with stuff too, you'd really have something great. But that's not the case. 2) The dude running the shop ignored us, never smiled, never spoke, and he was completely devoid of any customer service skills whatsoever. Not cool. This definitely sealed the deal and made me not want to ever walk through the door again. There always seems to be at least one crazy person shopping at every thrift store I go to, even a super small one like Riverside. Indeed, I came across one. There was a wild eyed lady buying a dozen ceramic ducks. Despite the sparse inventory, this woman had managed to locate every duck on the premises. She had a whole flock of ducks spread out on the counter. Pretty funny. Not worth the stop. -Daddy Maxx Retro

I wouldn't call Jan's a thrift store. She has such a wide variety. From baby needs ( clothes toys )…read moreto a antique spoon. In her main shop she has clothes for all sizes gender, all seasons. Bedding from quilts to sheets. Pillows throw pillows knitted blankets. She also has a variation of kitchen appliances, kitchen utensils all the way to ice skates baskets, figurines. In the back is where she keeps her furniture. The furniture can be anywhere from nowaday to antique just depending on what she has in the shop at the time. She also has bed mattresses headboards footboards lamps pictures and picture frames. I myself the shop there because you never know what she's going to have in her shop. It's always a surprise to see something that you haven't seen in years, say that old kitchen utensil that they don't make anymore that you loved to cook with, bam there it is on her shelf. I love pulling up to see all of the craft projects that range in such a variation from something that you would put in a farm home to in your brand new house that you were just looking for that one piece. That mouth drop piece that you have to have. So no Jan's is not a thrift store. Jan's, she is so much more then a store, she is a person and a very delightful person to see when you walk in that door. Happy shopping and remember to pin on your GPS.

If you're down to scrounge, this place might be for you (I'd just urge you to wash your hands after). That said, I specifically went here today because I needed a stapler. Mine went missing when I moved (probably in some box I've yet to unpack in my storage unit), and there's zero need to purchase a brand new stapler when I know I can get an old reliable Swingline from a thrift place like this (plus, I remembered on my first amble through here that they had a whole basket of staplers). Sure enough, I was able to acquire a stapler. But you can bet your ass that I brought along some staples to test out said staplers... the first one I picked up had a busted spring, but the second was fully functional. Both had been priced at $3. I mention this simply as a word of warning to consider testing before you buy.) I also picked up a bobbin thread case and a quart sized bag of crayons (both priced at $3) while I was there. This place is good for finding the kind of craft stuff your granny would keep around at a low price. And honestly, you're doing the environment a BIG favor to snag this kind of thing off a thrift store shelf rather than "convenience buy" it off Amazon or whatever. You can save money and feel good about yourself. The rest of the store has stuff like glassware, clothing, kids stuff, and holiday decor. It's not all amazing stuff. I reckon a lot of folks donate stuff they don't care to sort through when an elderly parent finally kicks it. The employee behind the checkout counter was a little slow to bother acknowledging me, but once we were interacting, they were friendly enough and wished me a good day; seemed like they were happy I actually bought something instead of just browsing.
