after the general manager recd a complaint i made, he phoned me. rather than offer an apology, he…read moreacted surprised and offered me excuses for the person i made the complaint against, and excuses for the bike i brought in to be tuned. he phoned me back the next day and while he set up an appt for me to get the bike tuned, he made no promises that the bike would be tuned, but it would be "looked" at. i should point out that i'm a visible first nations woman and the complaint was about being disrespected by the tune up guy. so that might explain why mick the manager couldn't and wouldn't offer an apology: bcuz its ok to diss the first nations, even the prime minister did it and canada of course said it was no big deal.
i have an appt for a tune up tmrw: the front brake doesn't work, the back brake was rubbing on the rim so i unhooked it, and the derailer is totally screwy, and gears shift when they want. we shall see if the bike gets a tune up or i get disrespected yet again! i'll let you know!

i would like to thank mark, the guy in ct customer service with a voice born for radio, who helped me with my complaint against larry, the tune-up guy in selkirk. mark was the one bright spot in this entire saga.
as 4 days after the complaint was made, the manager of the selkirk store phoned me, and rather than offer me an apology, as most ppl would do when a discrimination complaint has been filed, mick sounded surprised and offered me excuses for why larry hadn't been available to tune the bike AND then offered excuses for why the bike wasn't working. but no apology for anything. he did set up a time for me to bring my bike in today, but offered no assurances other than larry would "look" at it.
i brought the bike in today and larry offered no apologies. as i pointed out the issues with the bike, he argued with me about what he said. he denied saying he wasn't supposed to touch clearance bikes, he even turned his head away from me with an angry pout like a 13 yr old girl and i had to say "i'm over here" bcuz he didn't even want to acknowledge me. then he said that he wasn't supposed to touch clearance bikes though. so mick the manager might want to tell him it's in black ink on the bill.
he ended up saying to leave it with him for half an hour and he would see if he could fix it. i said i hoped he could but that it really would have been nice to have an apology. and then he did actually say the word sorry, but i have no idea what it was in reference to... he was nowhere to be seen when i picked up the bike. turns out he didn't fix the back brake - it's still rubbing against the rim so i had to disable that again, but he did fix the front brake, so at least i have one. and apparently he accused me of "over-shifting" but meanwhile the derailer still isn't tuned.
anne frankly i don't care anymore canadian tire. i'm just waiting on m.a.i.d. to end my life so i don't have to deal with this kind of disrespect from latent racists, bcuz it's never going to end in canada, where privileged white folx too busy enjoying the benefits of genocide will never feel the need to apologize for discriminating against poc. they always whine that if we're offended by their words and actions, it wasn't their intention. i'm curious, what do you think larry's intention was with lying to me about the seat not being able to move?
whatever. in conclusion, i will NEVER go to that cdn tire again.
