I love the selection in this store . Locally made goods and cute clothes that don't break the bank…read more I bought a beautiful bracelet made from Japanese silk and up cycled one of a kind mittens. Staff are super friendly and kind. Just an update for those who like gifts that matter They are selling the cutest wooden houses in support of mental health . All the proceeds go the maker which is really amazing. They have a map of Manitoba and come with a little star so you can place your town on the map. For 15-20 dollars they are a steal and will look super cute in my kitchen. The staff said you can email the maker for custom provinces. I think they would make a great gift for a great cause.

Yes, you can show up in a flashy car or buy rounds of drinks for my friends or take me to $300 dinners... but what I'll remember in 10 years... what will make me want to stay around for 10 years, are the little things. You can make me feel like I hung the moon by remembering a special moment. My S.O did this with a trinket from Out of the Blue. It was a beautiful necklace with a sand dollar pendant. It was so special that the moment I opened it, it triggered a proustian memory and I was back to that beach in Africa. back to 2007 when he was Obama-ing it up meeting long lost relatives in the motherland and I just happened to be staying at his birth father's house while I was volunteering in the village. You know... the usualboy meets girl story. I left for Kenya and got trapped in the makings of a civil war. Passport stolen, city locked down, the sound of sirens and the smell of burning filled the air. This man, this guy who knew me not even in a biblical sense for just a few weeks took a 16 hour bus ride across 2 countries to make sure I was ok. We ended up hiding away at his cousin's beach house on a empty strip of sand in a remote village while he fed me pineapples in the day and at night I would wake up crying from memories of men with machetes burning down churches full of children. All he could do was tell me it was going to be ok. It was our morning ritual to make the only footsteps on the beach and collect sand dollars whose bodies wash up on the shore after their death. Every little sea creature skeleton wiped away a fearful memory until there were no more night mares... and after awhile they weren't marine corpses anymore but reminders that though life can be horrid, heartbreaking, gruesome, unfair, dire, terrifying, it still has the capacity to be beautiful and birth love. When I opened that sweet little cardboard box, all those feelings came flooding back to me and that necklace isn't just a necklace, but a visual reminder of a memory of the heart.

I don't want someone else to have this happen!! I want to…read morestart by saying that my experience with The Perfect Gown, in terms of atmosphere and the assistance I received from the sales associate, was very positive. The staff was kind and welcoming, and I felt truly cared for during my visit. However, my experience took a dramatic turn after I had already paid for my dress and alterations, and I feel compelled to share my story to help others. When I purchased my wedding dress, I made it clear that I was dealing with significant health issues that caused weight fluctuations. This was mentioned not just to the sales associate but in front of the seamstress and my maid of honor as well. I requested that the dress be altered from a zipper back to a corset back to accommodate these fluctuations. I was assured that this request would be fulfilled, and I even paid for both the dress and the alterations upfront. Unfortunately, that was not what happened. When I received the dress, everything seemed fine at first. I stepped into the dress and pulled it up without issue. My maid of honor tied the corset back, and it appeared that the alterations had been done correctly. I didn't think too much of it at the time because I was simply overjoyed to have the dress and was focused on other things, including arranging our move to another province so I can be caring for my mom who was very ill at the time. Fast forward a few years later, after the heartbreaking loss of my mother, I finally returned to the dress. It was incredibly emotional, as this was the one moment she had been so eager to see me in. When I went to put the dress on with my aunt's help, I discovered that the zipper would not fully close. To my shock, there was still a zipper in the back, when I had explicitly requested that it be replaced with a corset. I reached out to The Perfect Gown to explain what had happened, and while they initially seemed receptive, I was deeply disheartened by the response I received from the in-house seamstress. She confirmed that she was the original seamstress and acknowledged that she chose to leave the zipper in place, despite knowing about my health issues and the need for a corset back. She explained that I "fit the dress at the time," but did not provide the alterations I paid for, even though I had clearly requested and paid for them upfront. When I explained my situation--living out of province and dealing with the added costs of travel--she offered to help, but the additional cost of having the dress altered properly would be $200-$400. This was after the initial alterations were not done correctly, and the original work had already been paid for. The stress this situation caused, especially considering how important this dress was to me and my family, was absolutely heartbreaking. I feel devastated by the fact that this dress, the only one my mom would have seen me in, is now unwearable, all because of a mistake that should never have happened. It's not just a dress--it was the dress, and it holds more emotional value than I can express. I can't justify paying hundreds or even thousands more to fix an issue that should have been addressed correctly from the start. After much thought, I've made the difficult decision to no longer support The Perfect Gown. I hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for future brides and that they are able to fully trust that the alterations they request and pay for will be done as promised. This experience has left me feeling incredibly disappointed and heartbroken. Please note the image is covered as the wedding has not taken place and I intent to find another seamstress who can assist in hopes that I can still salvage some of it.
