Wasn't too sure where to go to and needed a custom fit suit for an upcoming work event. I had previously went to Moore's to look at what they had to offer and ended up getting a single blazer off the rack - fit was less than expected and price was a lot higher than I wanted to pay. Being 6'2" and 280lbs.... and not all muscle I figured that's all that's out there for me .......then I walked into Benny's on Main st ...... Wasn't too sure what to expect - but Martino took one look at me and said "let me guess...hard to find a suit tthat fits you correctly? I'll get you what you need" and off he went. Took a few measurements - most of which he knew prior to even measuring and told me to come back tomorrow ( I had walked in right before he was closing and he stayed open later to finish measuring me up) The next day I returned and he had a few colour choices and styles already laid out waiting for me. Helped make a few choices and decisions and later that same day I went back to pick up a really good quality full suit, complete with blazer, shirt, pants, cuff links, matching henkerchief and tie. Being a larger man and having so much difficulty finding things that fit me and make me look good - I was delighted with the final product and outcome. Now as I was there looking in the mirror at the final product and admiring myself I started to think ..... good heavens this is going to cost a fortune. Well it didn't. The name Benny's is actually the father of the current owner and tailor himself Martino. Martino is a straight shooter and always a pleasure to come by and see. Martino not only does dry cleaning but rents formal wear and can even make custom suits for you himself. Unlike the high volume produced garbage you will get at the places who put commercials on TV, here you will only get exceptional quality that will last for years. Martino was trained in Italy in the old ways of making suits so you are getting the real deal here. I liked my experiences with Martino coming in for dry cleaning so much that I came to him for my wedding to rent tuxedos. My groomsmen and I were very, very happy and I can honestly tell you I've never looked better in my whole life. When the wedding was done my new bride had him dry clean and box up her dress and she was very happy as well. This whole experience was so good that I even decided to save up a bit of cash and get him to make me a custom suit to look like a boss in. I would easily drive across the whole city to give Martino my business. Visiting Benny's was such a treasured step in my walk down the white birck road! Im not the kind of person to stray off the beaten path, however after a nasty run in with the "professionals" at David's I turned to a familiar land mark in the northend. Martino is an amazing artist at his craft. Not really knowing what i wanted he allowed me to stop his eniter day and helped me find my dream dress! Then he made that beautiful dress fit my body. My brother ordered suits for a destination wedding and my pick up point was Bennys. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. They took great care of me from measurements to tailoring. Even going out of their way to ensure my suit fit PERFECTLY (rental company sent the wrong sized pants!) Had gone to Benny's for my sons graduation. Got a very stylish suit. He looked great! Had a family emergency not long after and needed a suit for my husband ASAP. So went back to Benny's. Martino was very professional and got us a beautifully fitted suit by the end of the day. The big box stores don't give you that personal touch.The man knows what he is doing! My daughter had her wedding gown dry cleaned here and it was done very professionally. Several stains were removed successfully as he showed my daughter the spots where stains were removed. She received the dress in a beautifully detailed box for her to store as a keepsake. Price was excellent and we would highly recommend this store for dry cleaning or alterations for wedding gowns. I have now had two zipper replacements done, and both have been perfect and very reasonably priced - definitely recommend :) Be patient! They are often working in the back so drop off can be a bit slow if you don't have an appt. read more
