Bought a car battery here 3 years ago this month. It failed within the 3 year warranty and they will not replace it although it is clearly a Walmart battery that was definitely purchased at this store. They say they need a receipt. I usually buy my batteries at Costco and all of them have lasted 6-7 years. Walmart used to be really good about this kind of stuff when did they go down hill or is it only the St. Helens store? read more

Limited inventory. If you need groceries, save the headache and just go across the street to Safeway instead. This Walmart has such a limited amount of groceries and health and beauty items. For example you can get a gallon of milk but not s half gallon. They were not out of stock, they didn't carry half gallons at all. No fresh meats such as ground turkey, chicken, or steak. Only one variety of shredded cheese. Just a poor showing of a grocery section, why even bother? read more

Concerned about our poor service today at Walmart can returns. Today we decided to take our kids with us to return cans we saved as part of our vacation funds. So they feel good about participating in the hard work it takes to save for vacations. While there the employee helping the man who was struggling with the machines was very rude to elder gentleman. I kept my mouth shut while the elder gentlemen apologized as the employee accused him of returning cans to quickly. When we started returning our cans it was a good time joking with the man and the others in line. The men ended up having issues with the machine next to ours and again called for help. The same young man came out again and started yelling saying "idk whats wrong! What are you doing!" He swung open the door part and almost hit my 3 year old with it while he was in the cart. As kindly as I could I asked him to please remember my children were right beside him. He then started hitting the machine trying to turn it off and swinging around this long metal rod they use on the machine, again almost hitting my son in the cart. He started yelling at the man saying he jammed the machine and started pulling bottles out and throwing them. At this point I lost my cool. And did indeed tell him if he hit my kids there would be trouble.. (but not in such nice words);at which point he looked at me and I let him know I was talking to him. He went in and then and elder lady and younger gentlemen came out. Telling us that we needed to keep our kids hands out of the machines. I informed her she should be more concerned with her employees behavior then my children's "hands" in the machines. Where she yelled at me saying the employee isn't the problem! Everyone at the returns apologized to me for the behaviors of the employees and directed me in other local returns where my children wouldn't be exposed to the extreme behaviors of the employees. A good learning experience for my boys turned into such a scary event for them. We have just moved here a few months ago, and everyone has been so great and friendly. And I can say never in my life have I had to yell at someone the way I did today for almost harming my children. I will not be going back to this Walmart as it was such an embarrassing moment. And defiently not the memories I wanted to create for my children. read more

If you look under the shelves were the candy is displayed you can see rat/mouse traps you think that they would try to hide them a little better. I've read some of the other reviews here talking about how surprised they are about the IGA and Safeway are still open and how Walmart didn't shut them down. The only reason for this is because this Walmart doesn't have a grocery department,YET. Once they do it will take about a month for IGA to shut down Safeway might be able to survive but I doubt it. read more

I purchased two asthma inhalers 10 days ago. I have acute asthma. In10 Days there is zero inhaler left. I call to speak with the pharmacy to discuss the issue. Stating the pharmacy truly needs to replace these two expensive inhalers. They refuse. I state if you do not and I die my wife will have our lawyer sue them. She hung up. Then a call back to request a manager. She played the same game telling me the counter on the inhaler should tell us how many puffs are left. I state your quite wrong. No counter is on either inhaler. She insists there is. I inform her I have required asthma inhalers for 30 years and no counter exists on whatever cut rate inhaler they gave me. She insists there is. I'm fairly sure Walmart hires from the bottom of the human food chain. Now I plan on going in: purchasing the remainder that is on prescription now then leaving and charging my card back for product not as described. Walmart? Wow! Do you plan on not caring and killing me? It definitely has that appearance. The liberal bastion of buffoonery taking zero responsibility may kill me. Good prices but product and service can be questionable. I purchased tires from the auto center which turned out to have a manufacturing defect and they were very difficult about getting them fixed. I had to go on about 5 separate occasions eventually having to bring proof of the issue from les schwab and a copy of the tire warranty stating they had to replace them, as the tires had a mere 1,000 miles on them, and the staff was still reluctant on following their warranty. read more

The people in the tire center do not know what they are doing. I was sold a full set of tires with an extended warranty package, being told that it was the way to go since it's an AWD vehicle. They said that if something were to happen to 1 of the tires not to fret, as the extra warranty I paid for would cover the full replacement of the tires at no extra cost. From about week one after having the tires installed there was a faulty one that constantly slowly leaked air. I took it in to the wal mart tire center that I purchased them from on 3 separate occasions to get it checked bc the sensor kept alerting and was worrying me. Jeff, who works there was insistent that he saw nothing wrong each time. I took it back in yesterday and a girl working there immediately found the issue. Since the damage was being done repeatedly without Jeff finding the issue the wear and tear made it to where I had to get 4 new tires, all of which WERE NOT COVERED under the crap package they pushed on me in the beginning. I will not be going back to this center and do not recommend them. They sell you on things and then reverse course and act like their hands are tied in doing the right thing for the customer. Had the issue been caught in the previous times I took it to get it checked I would not be out $400. Bad business... read more

It's nice to have a Walmart here (there's really no other general merchandise store here) but this is a small Walmart -- most likely because it was an old, traditional Wal-Mart (with the hyphen) before most stores became big Super Walmarts. I think now the Super is the default norm in larger cities so this one looks half the size of a typical Portland area Walmarts (like Eastport Plaza, Happy Valley, Delta Park, and Tigard). In particular, this store has no produce section and grocery is limited to pre-packaged stuff. Prices aren't that much better than the Safeway across the street except for the basic food items under the Great Value (generic) brand. Clothing section also is smaller than the Portland metro area stores so selections are limited. * Bike parking: there is no bike staple (like almost every business in Saint Helens), so the only option is to lock your bike to the shopping cart return corral in the parking lot near the front entrance, or just park it in the small bicycle parking area next to Starbucks drive-thru and walk across Gable Road. read more

The only other Yelp review for the franchise store in this tiny provincial burg touches on much of the salient discussion I was prepared to expound upon, however, we can sum it up effectively and briefly: This place, in short is nothing like any Walmart you'll find in city limits. To wit: you can park very close to the doors. You will have few, if any people in front of you for the returns section. Or the pharmacy. or the check out lines themselves. Are you serious? Are you sure this is really a Walmart? You can also leave your pistol grip shotgun, sling shot, and carp bat all at home: this Walmart has been shockingly (even disappointingly, I daresay) bereft of the zombie hordes any city dweller is well-accustomed to and even highly anticipates, if his/her people watching skills are at all refined. And what d'ya know: not only has Safeway managed to survive the local infestation of Walmart, so has the local IGA mart----IGA!!! That chain saw its heyday's curtains close when? the 1840s? the 1950s? There is a living, breathing, fully-operational IGA in St. Helen's Oregon here in 2012, so help me Mother Mary. My favorite part of moving back home to st. Helens is this amazing Wal-Mart! It's always clean, tidy, and FULLY STOCKED. The town I moved from Wal-Mart always disappointed me with thier bare and empty shelves. Here I was amazed by the variety of cool and new (to me) items that were overflowing off the shelves. Walmart vs St Helens Walmart... I find this Walmart more expensive then the WA state Walmart. Only thing I can think of is that they jacked the price up a bit to compensate for no sales tax in OR. St Helens Walmart is a bit smaller then most other Walmarts. They have some food items but not huge amounts. Variety of inventory is limited as well. I don't see as many characters as I have seen at other Walmarts so the entertainment value is on the low side as well. ;-) I do visit here for my day to day supplies because their prices are a little better then Fred Meyer. read more

The Employees are generally okay. The older ones are the best. I do from time to time see a few of the young standing around chatting and as you walk by it obvious not work related discussion. I hear they are getting a remodel so hope it more organized, cleaner and better employees. The colored hair, piercing, dirty hair and looking like they just rolled out of bed has to go. One young man's white shirt was so, so gray not white. But he was a very nice employee. Looking for some improvements! read more

Up front, I do not like the whole Walmart thing, so I usually try to avoid going there Unfortunately, there are some things that I cannot buy locally (like a door mat, socks, etc) so I do go there occasionally. They have apparently adopted the JIT (just in time) inventory system which aims to reduce costs by cutting stock to a minimum. Unfortunately, this stocking method often leaves many of their shelves empty and their customers wanting. I wanted six of an item recently, but was told that their inventory never exceeds two. Customer service is not a Walmart strong point. Most of the employees are nice and helpful, but the stupid corporate policies screw the employees and customers in the long run. I haven't seen any of the freaky people like "The People of Walmart" site has which is a plus, I guess. read more

Rude mean cashiers and costumer service plus the associates will just ignore you when you needed help. When I was looking for specific brand and asked one of the associate, she didnt even look the inventory she immediately told me we dont have that and walk away right away! How rude. And after repeatedly checking the aisle then I found the one I was looking. I feel not welcome in this store. read more

This monstrosity put all the remaining small shops out of business. Now you can barely buy anything in St. Helens. And to make it worse, after my grandfather died, my idiot cousin who bought our family farm in Warren sold it to Walmart to build this monstrosity, right in front of what my grandmother could afford to keep of her property. Thank god the community came together and managed to prevent the Walmart from getting permission to build here, so they moved down the street to a lot in St Helens. I've gone in out of necessity since it's hard to find a lot of other places to buy anything around here, but I avoid this place whenever I can. I went to this "Wallmart" in St. Helen's, OR on 8/18/2012. The inside was similar to most Wallmarts (items and prices). I also needed to have the air pressure on my tires checked --- they did and refused to accept a tip. read more

This is not a full size Wal-Mart, rather a mini Wal-Mart with very limited selections and hardly any groceries. Saint Helens deserves a full size Wal-Mart. I don't know why we aren't getting an upgrade. read more

GREAT STORE. The people working there really like me, I can tell because they're always yelling at me to "get off the furniture" and to "leave forever". They're my only friends.
