It's not intended for large orders. When asked about the customer service desk says they don't enforce it. Also, they took down the line about no bottle drop vouchers at self checkout. Some cashiers take them and some don't. Consistency is key to good customer service. Fred Meyers out does Safeway by a landslide. Why can't the self check out person handle vouchers, etc. at the unit instead of transferring? Only store I have seen this. I ran a self checkout area for years, isn't rocket science. Do better, unfortunately this Safeway has really gone down hill in the last 5 years.

My recommendation is to order pizza and sandwiches online so as to not have to wait for their preparation. The recently opened upstairs area is much larger than I had anticipated, with dozens of tables and chairs, and areas where small groups can eat together and talk, and I believe large groups are able to reserve the area as well. In addition to this upstairs, space, there are tables downstairs and now quite a few tables outside as well. You can buy and consume beer on the premises, but I believe that their licensing requires the consumption to be indoors and to be opened by store personnel.

I ended up having to wait another 40 minutes and checked with employees twice during that time. Turns out that my sandwich was ready the entire time and was just in the heated holding cabinet. I ended up actually getting my food around 6:05pm. I get that they were busy but it was frustrating because if an employee could've just taken 15 seconds to check and give me my order, I could've been on my way 40 minutes earlier. The sandwich was good, but not worth waiting an hour for. They need an employee in the back to provide customer service and hand out orders. Or possibly a designated area for online pick ups? Regardless, I left frustrated.

Today however, I walked my 1 year old Canaan Dog a mile and a half to West Street Grocery; bought exactly $19.75 worth of stuff. Asked the owner if I could have a small paper coffee cup (to pour bottled water for my dog). He rang it up for 50¢! A bit shocked I said "really?" and he replied "you buy for you, I no charge. you buy for dog, I charge." I'm like seriously? I just spent 19.75 in here! He just shrugged. I added (because by this time I'm RIGHTEOUSLY indignant) "honestly, with another convenience store right across the street (Zatterburgs), I'm surprised you'd actually charge me anything.....I live here, I stop here, why on earth would you charge me for a small paper cup?" His response? "You no like, don't come here." This is a veeeeery small town. And most of us have dogs. DO NOT SHOP HERE. You can get drinks, chips, ice, etc. across the street (literally about 15 yards). Appalling.

I had been paying top dollar for a 6oz container of Blueberries at my local supermarket paying anywhere between $2.99, $3.99 & $4.99 for a one serving container. I posted a message on Yelp Talk and was turned on to Frozen Blueberries at Costco. At Costco I found a 5 pound bag of frozen blueberries from Columbia Fruits for $13.99. I took them home and placed the entire contents into a Rubbermaid Tupperware bowl and froze them for my morning smoothies. I opened the Tupperware container this morning and got a look at these things in the day light. These blueberries were the size of marbles and so blue they were purple. I washed them off a bit and noticed it was draining a lot of the stuff I probably want in my body and not going down the drain. Columbia Fruits produce also grows & sells Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries & of course my favorite Blueberries. I figured what the heck why not shoot them off an email and ask about the washing that they do before packaging. I emailed them and got a response back within minutes. I am super careful as to what I put in my body. I checked the pollution & groundwater reports for Woodland, WA which surpassed the EPA standards by at least double in every category. This Farm has earned my business and is saving me tons of cash.
