They have a gas station for you to fuel up. The warehouse itself is a typical Costco warehouse setup. They have enough interesting stuff to keep me entertained for a few minutes. Their clothing selection is different from my normal Southern California selection. They had hoodies for both the Edmonton Elks, Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL football teams). The hoodies were reasonably priced compared to NFL hoodies, I ended up with one after discussing it with some of the locals. I didn't look at any more of their merchandise. The men's restroom was clean. My wife did not complain about the women's restroom. The food court had the usual hotdog, but, also had a the Canadian Costco specials of smoked meat sandwich and poutine. This Costco is a great place to stop at when on a long road trip. They have everything needed for a pit stop.

Having said that... I got some great deals and some kick-ass merchandise. I spent a little more money than I intended to and even bought some stuff for myself. I wish I'd had more time to shop, but maybe that's it's a good thing I didn't. The leisure wear stores, while being close together, each had different stuff that was unique and adorable. Skeleton and devil onesies? Wanted to buy them all. Cartoon underwear for him and her? I could go on and on. They had a Body Shop and a Bath and Body Works, both had great product and fantastic deals. I like how no one pounced on me as soon as I walked in. Can't say that for Edmonton Malls. I got Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte body scrub and shower gel plus a Perfect Autumn Day body mist that smells like apples for less than $20. And coupons. The Body Shop had some great sales. I especially liked how i got an anti-aging pomegranate set worth $58 for $40. I renewed my Body Shop membership card for $10 and got to use it for $13 in savings. Love that. But their Ardene store is AMAZING. This store doesn't stop at accessories and jewelry. They have clothes, footwear and pajamas. (Red Deer must be big on pajamas.) There's an extensive selection of decent shirts, pants, scarves, etc at pretty fair prices. I could have spent an hour in there! Bought some cool stocking stuffers and a couple of cheap surprise bags that had not bad stuff in them. Not going to spoil it for you, but some of the items in them were worth five bucks or more on their own, and not everything was crap they just couldn't sell. This place also has a decent sized food court and a Hudson's Bay and Toys R' Us. Next time I'm in Red Deer, I'll try to make more time for this place.

While they did have some notable brands, they were asking for a much higher price. You could easily go on to the brand website and order the same clothes for almost half as much. Most of the clothes that are affordable are outdated and clearly have been in stock for years. And perhaps even more disturbingly, I found old oranges hidden in the shelves. It was very off putting to find. I don't recommend this store at all. I want to support local businesses, but their just trying to take your money.

There's as much of a small town vibe as one can expect out of a faceless, monstrous, anonymous giant retail construct. In any case, I don't feel as rushed or as crowded in or in danger of trampling ankle biters. The people who ask if I need help appear to be sincere about it and happy to be asking. They tend to watch the line up-front and get more cashiers on as appropriate. They also seem to try harder to fix things, find things and get things. Maybe it's because I'm not in any rush when I'm visiting family in Red Deer instead of being in the rush of my life in the City, but I find this to be a kinder, gentler Chapters.

I got 2 boxes of very cute Papyrus Christmas cards (sparkles and colourful!). Each pack had 16 for $20.75. They gave a little discount at the register, something like $5 off when you buy 2 boxes. I actually need one more box, I will return next week and get a box of smaller cards, Papyrus of course! They are my fav! Got some yummy Starbucks, the line is always super long here, but shopped a bit then got our drinks. Also picked up 2 packs of the cutest book marks for my fiance, a little Peanuts (Snoopy) holiday book and a onesie for my niece-2-be, it is really cute, all white and says "Little Sister" in pink. Great location and I always love my Chapters :)
