Newly renovated recently, the entire store placement is like a complete 180 大執位 lol. All my necessities are at a different spot now and need to get familiarized all over again. One of the few Walmarts that do not open as late like other Walmart because they are located in a mall. This is also not a Superstore so a lot of items may not be carried at that store. I have went there a few times to get something but sadly, couldn't find it so had to go to a further Walmart. Or, the item will be out of stock as it would be sold out fast.The store feels old and outdated and is overdue for a renovation. The parking lot is extremely busy so it can be hectic and stressful. I would've rated a full 5 stars for one amazing employee here at Walmart Markville Mall, but everything else is too unacceptable and deserves one star. Let's start with the good. An employee here named Garth, a middle-aged, Caucasian male, is, by far, the most professional, friendly, and genuinely jolly employee I have ever had the pleasure to receive retail service from. I have seen him at this location consistently for over 10 years, and he consistently remains the friendliest and best employee of any retail, customer-facing location ever. Kudos to him for doing his job with pride and dignity, even in a stressful job like retail. He should be the CEO of Walmart, rather than just a cashier. The good stuff ends there. There are way too many unacceptable experiences at this Walmart, from unprofessional to downright hostile and inappropriate employees, management that doesn't take complaints seriously, and a very disorganized store. I had made a report once about an icky young brown male fob cashier who kept staring at me inappropriately and then tried to walk by way too close to me without a sense of personal space, and the manager said he would check the camera and follow up with me. That never happened. I had complained to another supervisor/manager, Sam. about an older, overweight, brown female cashier who was working in the women's clothing section and was randomly showing me disgusting attitude as soon as I entered the department, not allowing me to touch any of the clothes because, in her own words, 'I don't have THE TIME to keep folding clothes'. When the supervisor spoke to her, she became even MORE aggressive and nearly assaulted me by throwing something across my face into a cart while folding clothes with more aggression and anger. I reported this immediately to the same supervisor/manager, Sam, who said he would speak to her again. Again, I had no follow up, and continue to see that nasty woman with anger issues in the women's department, which makes me so uncomfortable to shop there. Technically, I can sue her and Walmart for an attempt at assault by that female. The cashiers in the self-checkout are mostly inept. One East Asian female is downright dumb and rude, but she thinks she's smart, and I had to reply to her rudeness firmly to do what I knew was right during my checkout. Otherwise, I would've had several minutes wasted. The customer knows the self-checkout better than that egoistic woman. And finally, the whole store is quite disorganized, especially several areas in the women's section. They have plenty of inept employees crowding the front of the store, and barely any to be seen anywhere else if you need help finding something in another department. All in all, one star for the walmart location and lame employees, but five stars for Garth, who works in the electronics department. Hope he can get out of there. read more

This is another huge Walmart Supercentre in Markville Shopping Centre occupying a single floor employing lots of part and full-time people. You can find almost anything you're looking for at Walmart. Every department you can think of and more including services and a McDonald's. With COVID-19 restrictions, many aisles were off limits to shoppers. Only food and essentials like drug store items. Today's visit was to pick up a few food items. The parking lot is huge so there was no problem finding an open spot. Checkout lines were sparse...but I used the self-checkout option. I bought a bag of potatoes and other groceries drove home which is 1 hour then proceeded to take potatoes out of bag and into my wooden potato box. I screamed bloody murder when I realized that i had picked up a dead rat out of the potato bag. I called the Markville Walmart where I purchased them and customer service took a message saying to bring back item with receipt for a refund....I live so far away it really is worth it my main reason was to protect others from buying produce with rats, mice. Busy Busy Walmart! I definitely avoid coming here on weekends when the parking lot is crazily busy!! Since Markville is one of the biggest Shopping Centre in Markham and this Walmart is the only one in the area, everyone comes out here to do their shopping. The line up at the cash can be super long too... even with over 15 cashier slots at any given time only a handful would be open.... read more

First time I ever had a manager insult me then walk away. I was in Walmart to pick up a few things last minute when I see I sale that said $3 for 5 for Crispers. A price I couldn't refuse. Once a got to the cash it appears not to be so. When I asked the checkout lady she told me her manager was over there and I can talk to her. She clearly didn't want to talk to her herself. So I walk over and talk to her after taking a picture. This manager, "Nordan", takes one look at me and walks away. I said, "excuse me, I was told you were a manager here", and she turns back and says, "Yea what". So I tell her and show her the sign that said $3 for 5. (It was high in the air so no kid could have tampered with it) She then goes off saying no it's 3 for $5. Even tho I showed her the picture over and over. She then says, "no kid, you don't know how to read it, it means 3 for $5". I then get her to point out where the dollar sign was. She then just says, "it wasn't like that when I came in so I can't honor that", as she walks away again. Too bad Walmart doesn't have a proper complaint channel. This Walmart is located inside Markville Mall, and is probably one of the busiest Walmarts in the GTA. It's also the only Walmart I know of that has Chinese translations! In terms of organization, this Walmart pales in comparison to others around the area, but it could be due to its vast size. You see random items being thrown all over the place, and some good deals along some of the wider corridors (e.g: Listerine was all over the place today). The cashiers, despite the fact they're plentiful, are slow. They really like to take their time packing your items into shopping bags. read more

Do not go here for services - they rip you off and don't even do a good job. I asked for a regular manicure and was charged extra without notice and all they had to say was "you should have read the sign" Like no, that's not how you run a business or treat customers. I dealt with a lady in a black shirt with black and white ruffles on her shoulders - my credit and debit cards were declining so I asked to go to the bank across the street on Hwy 7 and McCowan and she threatened to take my phone away from me. I told her no and put her in her place and reported this to the manager at this Walmart location. I ended up paying these idiots the $18 they didn't deserve when I had to call the bank saying these idiots were threatening me and TD released some credit on my visa. Bought a Sylvania television from Walmart (model SLED5550-D-UHD) and have experienced excessive issues with the remote control. I have purchased 3 universal remote controls and am unable to program them to the television. This includes the Rogers provided remote. All I want to do is control the power & volume. I called Sylvania and they redirected me to Walmart Markville Mall). When calling the store they directly back to the manufacturer, referencing a 60 day return policy. I don't need a new television. Walmart is convenient and the prices are great. They have almost everything you need, especially now that it's a superstore. But the produce isn't fresh. But holy cow I hate going here. It's crowded, it's messy, staff aren't helpful for the most part, slowest cashiers of life and parking is terrible. For a Walmart being located inside a very popular mall, they certainly keep up with things, much better than the Stouffville location. Well stocked but can be a bit messy but that's what's to be expected when you have thousands of customers in an hour being in a mall. Usually at least a couple cashiers going but I refuse to use the self check outs as I'm not being paid to work there. Today my partner went to this Walmart to look for non-slip grip mats. My partner asked a middle age white women which she replied "I don't work here." Despite the fact her name tag was on her (name Linda). My partner said but your wearing the vest and name tag. She continued to ignore him. I also witness her helping another couple that was about our age and appeared to be white. This felt like we where in a situation of racism. This Walmart doesn't live up to its standards and a majority of servers are always in a negative mood. I absolutely detest that this Walmart has strayed so far from the Walmart brand standard. In an effort to compete with the numerous quality Asian markets in Mariam, this Walmart has made a poor attempt to become one. It's seems valiant that they are catering to the population of Markham but there are so many good quality Asian markets. We just need for Walmart to be Walmart and it would be okay. Lack customer experience and definitely need to upgrade their payment system! I have always enjoyed shopping at Walmart, but the latest experience humbled me. I visited the Walmart@Markville Mall last weekend with my two-year-old son. My son wanted to buy a $5 Toy Fire Truck. I had accidentally left my wallet in the car, however, I had my phone with me. I figured I could use my mobile wallet(apple pay) to pay for my purchase. I proceed to the self-checkout and rang in the purchase. I then realized that Walmart did not have a pay-wave (tap-to-pay). I requested help from the customer service person and explained my situation and ask her if she can do anything to help me. After hearing my issue, she right-away took control of the system and proceeded to cancel the purchase. I did not mind she was not able to help, it's not her fault. But her tone of voice and lack of empathy really humbled me in-front of my 2-year-old son. The customer service person ranted, in her own words "I cannot do Magic, we do not accept tap". There was a good samaritan waiting in the queue and have seen what had gone down. She actually purchased the toy fire truck and gifted it to my son outside the store as we were leaving. I was so humbled and touched by the experience. I offered to email money transfer her the money but she insisted that I accept it as a gift. I can never forget this experience. read more

Closest Walmart to me. I try to avoid busy times but its quite difficult since it gets busy almost every time I go. Recently, they've been having renovations in the parking lots so parking ain't very user friendly. Prices are same in all Walmarts I think. Remember how I dislike complaints. I don't want to write this but I have to admit the cashier Ickley has no sense of the word courteous or even any customer service skills at all. She was plain rude to my spouse and it definitely leaves a sour taste in your mouth. As we all know when lines get busy companies will open up another cashier to circumvent the chaos. The manager on hand politely informed my wife that cashier number 1 would open up and that you will be first to be served. As my wife approached the cashier she was on the opposite side of the till with kids its difficult to manoeuver in such a crowd to the other side with so much traffic. The line built up very quickly and the response to my wife was you must lineup like everyone else... not even listening to a word my wife was saying. She dismissed her. So my innocent wife goes back to the end of the line which she thought was only to have another customer heckle her for not getting in line. She was embarrassed as it was but to be ridiculed further was appalling. By the time she gets to Ickley my wife tried to explain once again but this time the cashier is yelling at my wife. The manager that asked my wife to that cashier line was there to apologize but the damage had already been done. I have been in the customer service industry for some time and I know they are put through a lot of stress but use common sense and listening skills before you react or speak to a customer. I wrote about Wal-Mart once before and It's becoming a reoccurring theme. I believe it's time to do our shopping elsewhere. This store has no selection of anything. Never has anything it says in stock nor does it follow the flyers. A steam cleaner I was trying to buy would not scan. I waited 25 mins for someone to help me. No one went and looked for another product. They made up a price and charged me for it. Now I cannot return this product if it doesn't work. Walmart is a superstore that sells pretty much anything you want at prices that are pretty low. The problem with this is that a lot of what they sell is at that price for a reason - low quality or not being fresh. I don't really recommend going here for fruit/vegetables because they don't look fresh and all. If you're going here for things like canned soup, cereal, drinks or general sweets, you're likely good here since the ones here are the same as the ones located at, for example, a Shoppers Drug Mart, which tend to have slightly higher prices. But don't go here for anything high end - you're likely better off going to T&T or Foody Mart for that. One place I would avoid, however, is the electronics. Their prices aren't all that low compared to an EB so you're better off taking a minute walk down the halls of Markville Mall for that. Not only that, but they don't tend to have newer stuff in stock anyway. Be really careful as to what you take because there's a tendency for items to be opened already. I really don't know why customers feel the need to rip things opened IN the store but that happens here a lot - probably because they make no effort to watch security on anything of low-ish value. As everyone else has mentioned, this place is ridiculously crowded. Do not expect to get a parking spot anywhere close to it, especially if you go near the evening hours. Some days the lanes are short, others they're pretty long so they need to do a better job with keeping them moving. They also have cashback if you need that. One thing of note is that there's zero reception inside here so don't expect to be able to text or phone anyone in here (at least for me - I'm with Rogers). Walmart's an alright place if you just need to pick a few generic things up as they price pretty cheaply but since it's so busy, I generally recommend people go somewhere else - especially if they want fresh food. read more

Do not come here for passport photos. We made the epic mistake of assuming it would be cheap and didn't even ask the price. Ended up being $51 for both myself and my husband. ($22.99 for each of us got us two pics and a crappy passport holder.) The pictures themselves look fine but pretty sure they would have looked fine doing anywhere else. Hate this Walmart! It's always busy, I don't care what day it is.. The best time to come is when they have holiday hours, 24 hours! I come around 2am and it's quiet as crap! So awesome.. BATHROOMS ARE THE MOST DIGUSTING I HAVE EVER SEEN !!!! They are filthy anytime day and time you go. There is a button saying to press if you feel someone should check it. No one ever does come. Once on a Monday morning one of the toilets was plugged and overflowing with d********* . I told someone at customer service. About an hour later while passing back through the store I popped by head in to see if cleaned up and it was STILL THERE. Always litter on the floor. The Manager is useless. The Staff on the floor are extremely unhelpful. The checkout are very nice. Even though this is the closest store to me I much prefer to go to the one in Stouffville. read more

The mall is getting a renovation lately and almost every store is renovated, or at least boarded up ready for renovations. However, this Walmart is still in its old self. Although it is decent, it looks pretty dark, gloomy, and outdated compared to the newer Walmarts. It really needs a facelift to bring it up to par with the new Supercentres around here. read more
