I'm glad that we have a Walmart in Escondido, even if it is a smaller location. Because of the shopping center, they had to build a Walmart Market down the street because they aren't allowed to have the full grocery selection. I tend to buy medical items, vitamins, and seasonal things at this Walmart. If I need other items that aren't available, I go to San Marcos, or one of the Supercenters in Poway, Vista, etc. Parking lot is small, and has maybe 12 handicap parking spots up front. Depending on the day and time, it can be hard to get one. Staff are nice, but always busy and overworked. Most things seem to be in stock, maybe because it's not as busy as some of the other locations. read more

I shop here often and moved my pharmacy prescriptions here about a year ago. I live alone so I no longer go to Costco. I buy much of my groceries at Winco, though Walmart is closer and often well priced. Today was just sundry items. I like Walmart better than other big name stores due to variety and prices. I see this store doesn't have a great rating, but the staff is friendly and I wonder if some of the negative reviews are more about the ownership than the store. read more

Well i been to many Walmarts and this one has to be one of the Smaller ones and prices are a tad higher then the other Walmarts I have been to . There Tax percent is 8.75 compared to San Diego 7.75 and it is your typical Walmart carries everything from Junk Food , Groceries , Beer , Liquor , Clothing , Automotive needs , Health & Beauty and Laundry needs and Toys for kids plus I always compare it to Target but I came here to pickup a couple of things and service was so so but could use improvement for sure . But if I happen to be in Escondido I shall return and hope for better . As for Parking not bad and it is located next to Home Depot In Escondido . We tend to shop at this Walmart whenever we go to other stores in Escondido. This us a very large Walmart, typically well stocked. The Garden Center is minimal. Grocery department is OK. Store layout defies logic IMHO. There's plenty of parking. read more

Accessibility: as all Walmarts I've seen do, there is an automatic opening and closing doors and disabled parking in front of the store. Yay! I am always thankful for these. The parking lot has solar panels that create shade and there are security cameras in the lot. Walmart has great prices but the isles are a little bit narrow here and I end up having to be closer to strangers than I would like. read more

I swear if I have to do one more bad review on Escondido, I'm gonna go crazy and it's gonna make me look like I'm a bad guy, but I try and be fair and I try and be honest no sense or point in putting a review that's not fair or honest when people are spending their money here we go no surprise Walmart although I just went in to get a couple items the lady who helped me at the electronics section was very helpful and very nice and polite. I hate to say this, but the older gentleman when you come in in the front was a complete asshole the way he talks to maybe not everybody but definitely did to me when I asked a question made me feel like he was buying my stuff for me. I placed an order today around 1pm for pickup; I called in close to 6pm because I know due to COVID their pickup desk sometimes closes early. My item online said it wasn't ready for pickup but it would be before 8pm today. I called in to check if it would or wouldn't be ready. The first miss who helped me on the phone didn't necessarily know the answer so I am assuming she put the manager on the line, the first misses attitude was manageable. However, once the manager or whoever it was, got on the phone she became very hostile over me asking if it would be ready today. She practically yelled at me that the desk was already closed and no one was pulling orders because they're short. I had a simple question and the response could've been super simple "were short staffed so your order won't be ready today....". No need for the attitude and hostility. I cancelled my order to say the least. I hope they get better customer service representatives. I give my respects to everyone working during these times but for them to respond the way they did was not okay. I too work everyday and still find it in me to speak to people with respect. My husband went to this location to purchase a router which was on the Walmart app for 148.99. Mgr. Jocelyn would not sell him the product for the price that was on the app. In store price was $190.+. She stated it must be purchased online. She turned away a paying customer. Wanted to be sure to make consumers aware that they do not accept Apple Pay. Hopefully this review helps both you and the employees so they don't have to keep putting back baskets of returns due to lack of flexibility on payment types. I always get treated well with the door greeters but overall employee moral seems down so customer service also takes a hit. What's up with the terrible new layout?? It was fine the way it was! I didn't realize they changed everything and needed to do a few errands there. What would of taken me 10 min took me almost an hour to find everything I needed! A lot of the aisles you can't even fit your grocery cart down - way too tight! Then I was trying to find detergent thinking it would be near the cleaning section. NOPE! I even asked 2 employees and they didn't even know and were lost! So if you want to know, detergent is all the way down by the camping section since that makes perfect sense!! I will be sticking to San Marcos since their layout makes actual sense! read more

Nice clean, tidy location. Not a super Walmart but it still well stocked and has everything you need. The grocery section of the store is extremely small. No produce and very limited frozen foods and diary products. Unfortunately this location doesn't have a bakery or deli either. However, they do have a pharmacy and photo center. Parking is average. Walmart's in general are bad, but this one in particular is really bad. I was there waiting outside for the PlayStation since 5:30 am and employees could care less. They are fine allowing their customers to wait outside when everyone knew the PlayStation's were not in stock. First thing once they opened the guys said" get ready to be disappointed". So your telling me you knew the whole time, but decided not to say a word when you were cleaning outside and talking to us?! It seems like the company is hoping that we will buy something so that's why the refuse to update us. Along with that while I was waiting outside multiple employees did not properly wear the mask. Some had them off and some below their noses. Thank you for letting me waste hours of my time for no reason. I will make sure to never go here again. read more

I wonder if people in corporate ever read Yelp reviews for their underperforming stores. Probably not. Anyway the Escondido store on Grand (NOT the grocery one) is pathetic. From now on I will go out of my way to find a better Walmart. There's a reason why there are no crowds shopping at this store--even a few days before Christmas! Today I made the "huge" mistake of avoiding the understaffed checkout and went over to self- checkout. Mind you, there wasn't a long line of people behind me and I underestimated my item count. But hey, since there's never a crowd there I assumed it wasn't a big deal if I ended up scanning over 20 items. At the very end before I got ready to pay, one of the two employees in the section strides over and points out "For future reference...this is only for TWENTY ITEMS OR LESS!" I asked if the dog food cans (8) really counted individually as separate items that put me over the limit. She just repeated what she said before and pointed at the screen with my tab, "TWENTY ITEMS OR LESS!". I'm not sure why she had a chip on her shoulder about this... or why they post two employees there to do the job of one person. Whatever. Anyway , I should have asked why they single people out to berate, but they let shoplifters stroll by without stopping them??!! Seriously? I'm actually a paying customer but get singled out like a criminal. I could have turned into a Karen and made a scene (I didn't), I could have left with the goods without paying (wouldn't dream of it), or do what I should have done, left the whole cart in front of her and said "Fine. I'm done here. You can go put all this back" and walked out. In the big scheme of things I realize it's not as huge an issue as other problems, but I think other people should be forewarned that this is one of the most pathetic Walmarts in the country. i bought a brand new $350 nintendo switch, the highest level model they offer, at this location and i was so excited to open it when i got home. they dont let you touch the box until its at the register either so i never got to inspect it before i already paid for it. when i got home to open it, i noticed the box was pretty beat up. no big deal for me as i dont care too much about the box, but as i opened it, i could tell this was not a new item. the back of the console had scratches, things werent packaged properly, the controllers had dirt on them, etc. if im going to be spending $350 on a brand new item from as large of a corporation as walmart, i better be getting a brand new item. this is so ridiculous as its not the first time ive made a big, expensive $300+ purchase from walmart that ended up being used. in fact, in my 3 times of buying something this expensive from walmart, i have received used items TWICE. i have had more bad experiences buying expensive items from walmart than good. also they dont price match like they say they do. i saw it cheaper elsewhere but bought it from walmart bc it was more convenient. what a joke read more

Customer service is very bad, every time I come here to get something that's locked I press the button and have to wait 25-30 minutes EVERYTIME. And when I ask a worker for help they just give attitude or continue to not help. There seems to never be anyone in most of the departments. this Walmart is just not it I do not recommend coming here. read more

I am writing this review to share a very unpleasant experience I had inside with two of the managers. I recently purchased an accent chest from Walmart.com....they shipped it to me just prior to Christmas (it was a gift)....when I received it...I will include photos....the box had a hole in the side but I could not tell if it had been damaged inside (I took photos of box prior to opening)....so I began to open the box ....I ended up having to cut the box in order to get the chest out....once out I saw damage to the side of the piece (big hole in aside) so I immediately called the number on my invoice....I spoke to customer service who was apologetic as I explained the situation....I told Her that I had ruined the box getting the chest out and would not be able to put it back inside. She said no worries just to put the return label on it and she would arrange pickup and drop off of a brand new piece....wow great! Well on the day of pickup and drop off I cane home to see the old chest along with a new item dropped off I inspected the new box which had more outer damage than the last...so once again I took pictures then opened to examine the contents for damages. The chest was all broken in like six to eight different places so I called customer service again....I told them they did not pick up the first one and now left a second badly damaged piece for me....now I have two to send back...they said it wasn't picked up because it was not in a box I told them that....they said no problem (they recorded that call so I told them to listen to the call that I was told no box was fine) she was so rude and not being helpful. She told me she would provide a gift card so I could buy a box? I asked where can I buy a box that big? I ended up asking if I could return to a store...she said yes that's no problem that they would refund me. I went to the store and two managers told me that Walmart isn't going to refund me because it was a Marketplace purchase and that's not a Walmart sale so they can return the item for me but that it was a favor to me They don't have to return it. I then asked for something showing I returned it to the store...they told me just take a pic of it here....That just isn't right. How can I ever prove that I returned it if I had to...she said @Your just gonna have to trust us" huh??? So I left without a refund and still had no chest. Well it's been a week and I still haven't received a refund. It ruined my families Christmas as Christmas was put on hold till I receive a refund which still hasn't happened. This is probably the worst experience I've ever had shopping. I will never again shop at any Walmart stores in my lifetime. I will be a crusader against this company until the day I die. The treatment was just awful and my family is still awaiting the refund so we can celebrate out Christmas. Buyer beware!!! Check your receipt when you shop here. Been here three times. First time I went they double and triple rang items. I had to go back in to customer service to get a refund. The second visit I used self checkout to avoid this and they got after me for having more than 20 items. The third visit they double rang me again. Had to go to Customer Service AGAIN for a refund. Customer Service gave me a hard time. So I brought up that this type of mistake is stealing from me. They would call the police if I stole from them. This is a small Walmart Store (92,000-square-foot) located between Rose & Ash (major streets). It has a pharmacy, good variety of vitamins available and site to store. The site to store is great because you can order online and pick your order up right up front. The store has the basic necessities (a little bit of this and little bit of that including food items). One other thing I noticed is that the store isn't to busy when we have driven by. So parking isn't a problem. I am sure that is why they close at 10pm. The reason for only 4 stars is because it is difficult to get help when you need it. Also, customer service employees are not to very courteous. The customer service and site to store is in the same area. Sometimes it is difficult to enter when it is busy. Customers stand in the entrance to the area waiting for friends or family making it difficult to enter. It can be very frustrating because the people won't move, sadly. they have: * Pharmacy * Garden Center * Photo Center * 1-Hour Photo Center * 1-Hour Photo Center * Site to Store Pharmacy Hours * Monday - Friday : 9: 00 am - 9: 00 pm * Saturday: 9: 00 am - 7: 00 pm * Sunday: 10: 00 am - 6: 00 pm 1/11/ 2014 Update: it is still difficult to find an employee to assist, especially an hour or so before closing. Ignoring customers is not a good thing to do. A few of the Customer Service employees are still rude. TEN O'CLOCK PM CLOSING TIME, WALMART? REALLY?! I'll agree with what at least one other reviewer said. This Walmart is TINY, I guess that's why they call it a "Neighborhood Market" instead of a "SuperCenter". From a marketing / financial standpoint, it does make sense for Walmart; there are a TON of LARGE "regular" and "ethnic" Food Stores in this area, half a dozen of them within walking distance of this particular "WallyWorld". Well, the store is BUILT now, so as far as SIZE goes, it is what it is; no changin' it now, so LIVE WITH IT. There's not much Walmart can do at this point to make the store bigger, and again, given the close proximity of the aforementioned "other" Grocery stores, I probably would've done the same thing. In other places where I spend time, I don't use Walmart as my PRIMARY Grocery store anyway. I use them for what I consider their PRIMARY function: A DISCOUNT DEPARTMENT STORE. In fact, in Texas, they look particularly silly, trying to compete (in the Grocery realm) with HEB. Although they're a "Texas ONLY" Grocery chain, HEB beats 'em HANDS DOWN, NO CONTEST! "Wally" probably didn't expect a "local yokel" to kick their ASS, but that's what happens in Texas! HEB's smart enough to know that their Business Model probably wouldn't work outside of Texas, so they know their place, but it's still a Multi-BILLION Dollar place they've carved out! Don't take no "Rockit Siantist" to figure out they're out-selling Wally in that arena, either, even though we have THOSE in Texas too, the "Siantists", that is ("Walmart, we have a problem...") Walmart? They seem to think they can compete ANYWHERE, against ANYONE, but that's not always the case. While I shop 'em as much as anyone and appreciate the place they fill in my "shopping Life", it's satisfying to see 'em get their nose rubbed in the DIRT (or worse) every once in awhile. It's more than satisfying; it's downright FUNNY to see 'em make such HUGE MIS-calculations of their competition. Texas: THAT'S where they oughtta stick to the so-called "Neighborhood Markets" (at least anywhere there's an HEB, which is EVERYWHERE). Here, in Escondido, a larger store (apparently) would've been more welcome. But rather than its size, I've got a bigger problem with this store's HOURS OF OPERATION. And that's something Walmart CAN fix. I spend an equal or greater amount of time in Austin, and it seems like EVERYTHING there is 24/ 7. Not really, but there ARE no less than THREE Walmarts within 10 minutes of my home there that are. Conversely, "Escondido-at-large" seems to "roll up the sidewalks" very early. I was hoping Walmart might be a trendsetter in that department. NOPE! Last night: Friday, just after 10 PM. Wanting to pick up a few items for a Festival I'm going to the next day, I stop by Walmart, and they're ALREADY CLOSED? And I was FAR from the ONLY one showing up at that time of evening, wanting to shop & finding a LOCKED DOOR. Judging from the closing times of other Escondido businesses, I wasn't expecting a 24-hour store from Walmart, but I WAS expecting maybe MIDNIGHT. No such luck. ALBERSTON'S was still open, though, just around the corner. There were a coupla items I had to do without last night, but for the items I COULD buy at a still-open store, Albertson's got what WOULD have been Walmart's money, and I saw at least two other parties of people I'd encountered at Walmart's LOCKED front door, at Albertson's, in addition to me. We were all very disappointed with Wally. Sorry Walmart, NOT a good thing for repeat business. DEAR WALMART: You can't do anything about the SIZE of the store (shoulda been bigger), but you can certainly EXTEND THE HOURS OF OPERATION. The most "similar" store to Walmart in this area is a TARGET and THEY are open 'till 11 PM (excluding Sunday), AND have what they call a "Fresh Grocery", which I take to be maybe a PRODUCE and a MEAT DEPTARTMENT? I've shopped there, but never checked out their Grocery; I just don't think "Grocery" when I think Target, same with Walmart. And you SHOULD extend your hours, "Wally", to Midnight, at least. C'mon, you'll generate enough business to justify it, I'm sure. Side note: I tried to CALL ON THE PHONE in advance (due to the fact that Walmart doesn't post "Hours of Operation" on their Website); apparently they hadn't gotten their phone hooked up properly & the call wouldn't connect, so the ONLY way to find out was to drive up there. Add to that the fact that there was NO GRAND OPENING, NO SPECIALS, NO NOTHING, and ya got a pretty ANTI-CLIMACTIC opening. GOOD NEWS: We Escondido-ites don't have to drive to San Marcos anymore, to get our "Wally-fix".
