(Updated/expanded review)…read more I've lived in a couple different places now, and am usually a regular at Walmart. Based on that, I can say that this Walmart store is bad on multiple levels. Stock = Even pre-pandemic, finding items in stock was hit or miss, especially cheaper brand items. I also frequently find items on the shelves that have already been opened, presumably thanks to the customers. Maybe not Walmart's fault, but worth noting because it impacts that shopping experience; there was a time I couldn't find a single unopened box of the dryer sheets I wanted. Pharmacy = This pharmacy does not actually have an Express Lane, they just have the sign up for decoration. I've waited at the Express Lane counter while they skip me to help people in the regular line. Then they either call me over to the regular counter computer or have to turn on the Express counter computer. If I have to wait just as long as normal, in the same line as normal, and use the same computer as normal - or worse, wait for the Express computer to be ready - then there's nothing Express about it. Photo Center = I waited for 20 minutes for someone to appear at the Photo Center counter, but they never did; mind you, this was around 3:30pm, not lunch time. I tried to get an employee from the nearby Electronics section to help me find someone for the Photo Center, but she informed me that she couldn't/wouldn't help. I finally grabbed a passing employee - possibly a manager? - who went in the Photo Center to look for my order herself. She said it wasn't in the store, despite what the shipping tracker saying "Delayed, At Store" (or something similar). My photos showed up 1-2 weeks later, and the shipping tracker never changed, so despite insistence to the contrary I strongly suspect that my photos had been misplaced at the store. After that chaos, never again. Lock and key = All of the hard alcohol and some cosmetics are locked up. That's not necessarily bad, but the one time I wanted some rum it took 15+ minutes to find someone with a key. Presumably the checkout counter by the alcohol is usually staffed and I just hit it at a bad time - though who knows with this store - but that makes me feel bad for the people trying to buy the locked up cosmetics because there's not even a counter in the cosmetics section. If you're going to lock things up, don't make customers have to hunt down someone with a key! Automotive Center = Surprise, there isn't one! You can still buy oil and whatnot, but you'll have to go to a Walmart in New Orleans or Slidell to find an actual Automotive Center. Lines = My god, the lines! The *only* time I have been here and there haven't been lines was when I got there right at opening hour during the initial height of the pandemic in 2020. Every other time I've been here, the lines have been atrocious. There are two self-checkout groups, one either side of the checkout area; on more than one occasion, those lines have been so long that they met in the middle! The only way you can tell them apart was by which way the people were facing. Other times those checkout lines will go straight, disappearing into the clothes racks or supply aisles, tricking people into thinking it's short when really they're only seeing half the line. And of course the regular checkout lines get backed up too. I started doing the Curbside Pickup during the pandemic and haven't looked back. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than fighting the mess inside this store.

There are several cashiers on duty but their lines are all filled with full carts 7 to 10 deep! How long can Walmart survive half empty shelves and 30 minute checkouts? Gave me time to write this review!!??!!??!! I feel like we can do better. It will take longer to check out than it took to fill the cart

They might have the inventory but it's hard to tell because nothing is in the right place. The women's clothing is a complete disaster, half the inventory is on the floor or in the dressing rooms. The grocery section may be the only part of the store that doesn't give me complete anxiety. Once you finally manage to make your selections, probably not what you came for because you couldn't find it, you have to survive the checkout. My suggestion? Bring a book! You're going to be a while. My last visit there was one cashier and at least 20 people in line. I detest self checkout on principle. It eliminates jobs, it's stressful, inevitably you need a live person to complete the process and it's not my job! I'm fully capable. I've worked retail. I don't anymore because I don't want to! If you want me to do your employees' job, give me a discount. I digress. I did end up using the self checkout which was a huge nightmare. There were at least another 30 people in a barely moving line there. Do better Target. I normally enjoy my visits to your stores and pick up lots of goodies I didn't know you had. Unfortunately in this area I'll stick to ordering online.

I was in town visiting, so I didn't have a place to be while I waited. The store was very clean and put together. I found it to be clean on the outside as well. Shoutout to whoever has the janitorial account, because yall are doing a great job! I found a simple snack in the produce section, but took a stroll to check out the Walmart as a whole (since I had the time to burn). There was plenty to do and a Philly Cheesesteak restaurant in the Walmart, as well as a nail salon and other things. The self checkout was pretty advanced and clean as well! I really have no complaints. I had a simple need and this Walmart did what I needed it to do.

I had previously asked if I could leave my basket near the register while I drove home to retrieve it, and an associate kindly said I could leave it there for about 20 minutes -- the time it would take for me to return home and back. As I walked back to my car, I checked for any cash and found only $10. When I returned to the store, I let the associate know that I would put back some of the frozen and cold items and would leave and come back later to complete my purchase. I recently moved to New Orleans and usually keep a credit card in my car specifically for Walmart trips, but not this time. That's when Floor Manager, Erin, stepped in... she overheard the conversation and said, "wait...we can figure this out so you don't have to leave and come back." I was both surprised and incredibly grateful. Erin asked if I knew my card number, and when I said yes, she guided me through downloading the Walmart app step-by-step -- all while multitasking and assisting other associates with their questions and assigning employees to registers for employee breaks. We encountered an error with the app, but instead of giving up, Erin continued troubleshooting with me. She asked smart, specific questions, and eventually identified the problem: my credit card still had my old address. Once we updated it to reflect my new New Orleans address, everything worked perfectly. Erin even took me to a separate register to test the card with a small transaction -- and it was successful! I returned to a regular register to complete my full grocery purchase, but I won't forget Erin's kindness and professionalism. Please know that you have a permanent customer in me, and I'll always be looking for Erin to say a quick "hi" during my visits. As a retired executive, I can confidently say that Erin's dedication, patience, and problem-solving attitude were nothing short of outstanding. Her willingness to go above and beyond left a lasting impression on me. Bottom line: Erin is a fantastic employee, and you are lucky to have her on your team.
