Saturday morning our a/c went out and it was HOT. We were at Fred's Monday morning where he took…read moretime to diagnose our problem right then and there. Recommended replacing and told us it was self contained and could not be repaired. Our plans were fixed that we had to leave the area that morning so he recommended a place near our destination. We called and their response was " we will fit you in when we can" and we had heard those horror stories. Fred told us he could have the part delivered Thur and replaced in an hour and we could stay in a nearby state park. We paid a deposit on the new unit said we would be back Th at 12. ( Fred also said the truck came in about noon and he would install it then). We pulled in at 12:10 and the truck arrived about 12:30. Fred had ordered LOTS of parts for his on going jobs. They actually did not start work until 1:25 as (1) the guys had left at 11:30 on Lowes-run and (2) the need to move rigs around so they could get to the work. But once they started, it was professional, efficient and competent. New unit right out of the box and 25 minutes later they were testing it. (And almost $300 less than the other people had quoted) It's been 3 days and it working better than ever. As our a/c was 4 years old and the internet said the life span was 3-5, we are pleased. Why 4 and not 5 stars: Fred's communication left a lot to be desired. He is clearly a rural business where little details don't matter as much. He said he could install (immediately?) when it arrived (12:30- not 12) but then he said "after lunch" which turned out to be 90 min after his first estimate. And I'm pretty sure he quoted a price which was $125 less but he said the other did not include the labor. Questionable at the least. But if you ignore these two fairly little problems, Fred was ideal. If you are in the Waycross area, Fred's is clearly a good diagnostician and repair shop. We were also impressed by the number of local people who came in and out for work.

My wife s car broke down in Nahunta, Georgia (again). Her battery died and it was almost 12:30 in…read morethe afternoon and getting cold (40's). (We're from South Florida where cold is 68-70 degrees) Pretty much everything closes down on the weekend in Nahunta, especially auto repair and parts shops. I was lucky to find Robert, owner of Robert's auto Repair, who was still open and said that he could go and put a battery in her car as soon as he could. The local Bumper to Bumper parts store was closing in 30 minutes but they had a battery that I bought and was delivered to Robert. After Robert met with a "late" client who was picking up their vehicle, Robert drove 3 miles to my wife and installed the battery. Robert finished up and my wife paid for his time. She drove home without any other problems. Robert is the person you can go to when you need your vehicle fixed when you are in the Nahunta area. (Or tow your car up from anywhere - just make sure to find a hotel first)

They are located on the corner so make sure you enter from Tebeau Street and exit onto State Street (Ossie Davis Pkwy). I pulled in the wrong way the first time because there are no signs and there were no other cars at the time.

He had parts on hand in his shop to quickly confirm the defective fuel pump was the issue and I left the tractor with him overnight so he could perform other preventative maintenance. His prices were very reasonable and his dog Bo is an absolute sweetie. I was impressed by his honesty and work ethic; I will definitely be back with my other equipment.
