I've always been happy with the customer service and have never had an issue. If anything they have gotten a few laughs when I call freaking out after forgetting to put the cans out. We just bought a house and didn't have a trash can yet and called to start service and they said we could put some garbage bags out at the curb and they would take them as well as drop off a new can which they did. I was stressed because I'm our old neighborhood they would be there at eight in the morning at the latest and this route is later so I thought I had missed it and called them and they called the driver who said that I hadn't so it was all good. Worst garbage collection service you could possibly get stuck with! Over priced, terribly difficult to get a hold off, awful customer service! You are stuck with them if you live in the area so they have no incentive to improve the quality of their service or their awfully manual processes which also makes every inquiry lengthy and error prone. What a bunch of excuse makers. After the snow and ice storm and they were not able to pick up garbage, they offered to take double garbage loads. Ok fine, I had one glad bag full of recycling ( because the can is full ) on top of my regular recycle can. They decided this was a violation and now I need to go 3 weeks between pick up. When I called the lady at the office, she was completely rude and full of piss and vinegar. No recourse with a garbage company I guess, it must be nice to have no competition. read more

Way to start off on the wrong foot Walker Garbage. We bought a new home and called to have service setup. I told them when we would be moving in and everything seemed okay. They mentioned that they would be swapping out the garbage can, which was unnecessary but great. On garbage day they took out garbage can but never provided a new one. Mind you, they did leave the recycling bins, just not the garbage. One could imagine the inconvenience of this as you are moving into a new house. I called the next day to see what was happening and the Walker Garbage representative stated that they would drop one off the next week. Say what? I let the rep know that it was explained to me that I would receive a swap the day they picked up the old bin, and that I made it clear what day we were moving in. If I knew I was going to be without a garbage can for a week I would have just kept the old one. The response was that it's not normal for a customer to move into a house so quickly. That is literally the response I was given. Fair enough, mistakes can be made, but surely they would work to resolve this mistake quickly, right? They did try to get someone out soon, but after waiting on hold I was told that they were too busy to get something out in a timely fashion. Truly customer service at its worst. This was their screw up, but there was no desire to try work towards a quick resolution. They did promise to get one out by the end of the week (three days from when they took away the bin). Hopefully I see a garbage bin this week. But boy what a way to screw up a first impression. read more

Worst customer service of any company I know. Been a customer for 31 years because we can't choose our garbage collectors. Accounting supervisor hung up on me today when I requested her to waive a $1.50 late fee because my credit card on auto pay expired. I was not notified that the charge didn't go through, I was just charged the fee. For 31 years, every 4 years the credit card expires and she said since she already waived the fee once, she could not do it again. So I guess for $1.50 Walker Garbage could have avoided all the bad reviews I can share and leave on social media. They don't care. They just hang up on you. WORST customer service ever!. They make no effort to catch up on a missed pick up date. I understand weather can be an issue, however if PGE can restore electricity to 260,000 households you would think they could make attempts to pick up the garbage. When you call their office they tell you they will try to pickup sometime later in the day, but they have been saying that for four days. They just want to get you off the phone. When you have a contract with the city there is little incentive to provide quality service. Our neighborhood is stuck with this subpar company. read more

We have had the pleasure of using the Walker Garbage Service for 32 years. They have always been courteous, responsible, and efficient. A call to the receptionist has always righted the perceived problem for us... maybe 3 times in 32 years. We have never had a garbage or recycling bin intentionally left full. How badly can a garbage service suck? Pretty damn hard! This idiots constantly miss picking up cans, and then try to claim the can wasn't out. Every year Walker donates a truck and driver to the Forest Park Neighborhood cleanup during SOLVE's April earth day clean up. Volunteers walk the streets around and through Forest Park and collect about two tons of trash, more or less the same every year, and the driver from Walker Garbage Service cheerfully helps us and hauls it all away. We're very grateful for their contribution and for the consistent and efficient service throughout the year. read more

My one star rating is actually a -1 star. This is a company that exists for billing purposes only and even in that they are terrible. Walker is certianly not interested in collecting recycle or refuse. There is no excuse for Washington County or the City of Portland to have a contract with a company that has no way of online payment or auto pay functionality. I have just moved to Portland, which considers itself a progressive city and i am shocked at the complete lack of basic functionality of Walker Garbage. Walker also only picks up recycle every other week and if there is something in my recycle they think the trash collector does not like they just leave can can in place with no explanation. They will be happy to send someone back out but it must be billed and payed right away. For this Walker can take payment over the phone. For all this we get to pay 40% more than the average american suburban area. I just moved to Portland and i am registered to vote and will make sure i make it a point to not vote for anybody who had anything to do with this contract. Good job walker on being the worst company i have every dealt with and this includes all cable companies who have set the service bar so low its hard to limbo under, but you made it. Walker garbage is the worst company . They gave no warning when they don't pick up your cardboard for no reasons !! They want the cardboard gifted wrapped for them ! Very unprofessional workers! Where we live in the Cedar Mills and Forest Heights area, Walker is awesome! One of their drivers always stops and gives my dog a treat. My dog loves his morning walk on trash collection day. He will hear the truck streets away and run to it, waiting for his milkbone treat. Really polite and nice guys working the service in my neighborhood. read more

I have owned a property since 2006 and Walker has been my garbage company. I sold my house so called to cancel my service as of the close date. At that time I told Cust Serv I had partial paid the bill until that date. AT NO TIME did she tell me they bill in arrears. No problem, just got a bill for partial in March. But I also got a late fee. When I asked them to cancel it she told me "you should know we bill in arrears" and she was snippy. These people suck. read more

With the bad weather we've had recently, garbage pickup has been an issue (not Walker's fault, they can't control the snow/ice). For some reason though the recycling pickup dates keep landing during Snowpocalyse. We weren't supposed to have our recycling picked up this week, but the recycling driver had room in his truck and drove through the neighborhood trying to collect all that he could. I was just leaving when I spotted him, he waited for me to bring my recycling out to the curb (and helped us too), went above and beyond our expectations. Great service, and very helpful! I just have to say that the service is not at all what you would expect. Like other reviews, they charge extra to pic up a shower door, brook the glass in the process and left the chards of glass all over the place. Good thing I didn't back out of the driveway and after spending $1300 on winter tires. unacceptable. Also they promised to pick up the extra containers and for 3 attempts still haven't picked them up. They need to structure their processes better. read more

We recently moved to our new location. We had about 25-30 totally recyclable boxes. They came over, but did not collect them, as they did not fit in their residential truck. I sent them an email and asked for advice. When I woke up in the morning, the boxes were already gone. They had sent a big truck to collect the boxes. We were really happy with their service. At the end of the month, they charged us for about $250!!! If we knew that they are gonna charge us for $250, we would never ever asked for help. They came over and collected the boxes without telling us about the cost. read more
