What sets them apart: Citizen Hound is a safe, reliable and extremely well run organization from the top down. Communication between the office staff, dog walkers and owners is second to none. They'd always let me know when they were picking her up, dropping her off and precautions they'd be taking during seen and unforeseen situations such as atmospheric rivers, tsunami warnings or Fleet Week. My wife and I received pictures and/or videos of their doggy adventures almost every day. It was easy to see how happy my little girl was by the giant smile on little her puppy face in those wonderful photos. Over these past four years, our dog walker, Shannon, became part of our family; always going above and beyond to care for us and our dogs no matter what life threw at us. When I needed to leave on a moments notice as my dad battled cancer and eventually passed, Shannon was there. Through our engagement, our marriage and the birth of our child, Shannon was there. He always cared for our dogs as if they were his own. I like to think in a way, they are. Their excitement and joy anytime he walked through our door was so pure and beautiful. Chris also sends photos every so often, whenever I get them I'm so happy to see my dog enjoying playing with her friends. He also tells me about my dog's reactions when they were out in the field, like if she reacted to drones or airplanes flying overhead, so that I could watch out for those. He's very transparent with his communication, if there's an update to the pickup schedule he'll email ahead. He also responds to text messages for real time comms. When I had to travel for a month at a time, he was also very flexible with picking my dog up from my sitter's location. As long as the request is reasonable Chris is very willing to work something out. My dog gets so excited when she hears Chris's van pull up under our window.

Let me just say: adopting a two year old German shepherd knowing no back story has been a tough one. Joustin has helped me navigate the tough times with Coop (my GS). From recommending and bringing me some food for him to try that has nearly cleared up his stomach problems, to tips on best practices for when Coop is testing me or acting up, etc. They keep Coop on a 4' leash while they're getting to know him, and vice versa. But Coop is getting to socialize with other dogs (which it seems clear he didn't get any socializing before I got him). Joustin checked in everyday after his walks to see how he was (temperament wise), and spent some time talking to me at the end of the week to go over what he thinks is the best plan of action for Coop to be able to grow and go off leash. He'll be in a group with larger dogs, hopefully getting to run around when he's better with recall. Brent is who comes to pick up and drop off Coop. Coop gets SO EXCITED when we open the door and Brent is there. He is so kind, both to me and Coop. When he brings him back, he gives me a run down of the day, letting me know how he was, and if he went potty if it was normal (as that's been an issue). If I don't answer the door right away, he'll call or text (sometimes both). Super helpful! I was no walk in the park with these guys, as getting used to this new normal with a pup who can both be the best cuddler, an amazing listener and give you "F you" eyes all within 5 minutes has been challenging and guilt ridden- but these guys have been nothing but helpful, professional and a HUGE stress relief.

Puppy day care has ensured he gets the exercise and socialization he needs while we're at work. We come home to a happily exhausted puppy everyday. Our priorities in a dog day care were 1.
