After 6 years of working with Miller's Menagerie, and recommending them to so many people, it absolutely pain and saddens me to have to write about my most recent (and last) experience with Jonathan. Please see below for the message I had to send: I think it goes without saying that effective immediately, Daisy will not continue to be under your "care" in any way. After speaking with multiple friends with dogs, other dog walkers and her veterinarian, there is not a single person who thinks what transpired today was remotely okay. You not only told me you'd drop her off in the morning and didn't communicate a change of plans, but I had to go looking for her. Using her GPS collar, I found her sitting in the back of your van, in full sun, on a 70+ degree day with the front windows cracked one inch. She was with at least one other dog that I saw. She sat in these conditions for 1.5 HOURS. Not for an emergency or a car repair or an accident, but because of soccer?! Those priorities do not work for me. According to our veterinarian, it takes a 75 degree day to kill a dog in this way. She came home, and for the second time this week after your "care" she drank half her entire water bowl in one go. The first time she did this a few days ago, I thought it was a fluke but now I'm starting to put it together. Even more bewilderingly, this was an ELEVEN minute drive from my house and I was home the entire time wondering where my dog was. After looking at her GPS more thoroughly, I realized that she spent the night near Santa Cruz, at an unknown location for 17 hours. I did not giving my permission to take Daisy out of San Francisco, especially with her injury. It doesn't matter if it was *only* a 70 degree day, it doesn't matter that she was okay, NOTHING you could reply to this trying to justify your actions is valid. I know Daisy, and I know these conditions would make her, or any animal, very stressed. After 6 years, I feel angry, upset, betrayed and sad that our working relationship has to end like this but you've lost my trust to take care of her. Drop my keys off tomorrow- you can leave them under the mat and pick up your leash/ it will be hanging on the door. read more

My shy mini goldendoodle, Olive, has been part of Miller's Menagerie for about year now and we both LOVE them. Here are just a couple of pros: - The most flexible dog walker I've found. They are very accommodating to last-minute time changes since my work schedule - reasonably priced - they occasionally send photos to you throughout the work day and send you a lot more early on to reassure you which is nice - the outside time is closely monitored but off leash and in a park which Olive loves - They're careful to towel her off if she gets crazy dirty. (We have white couches..) - employees genuinely seem like they're super compassionate and love dogs. Olive gets overwhelmingly excited whenever she hears me open the gate for them. - they text! I can't even begin to say enough good things about this crew. I trust them completely. Jon, Dave, Marco and Brendan are amazing. They're extremely responsive and reliable. My pup Coop loves going out on walks with them. He's always super excited to go out, and I like the fact that I don't worry about him being in a pack of dogs. Coop's a young pup, so it's super important to me that he gets to socialize with other dogs. He comes back tired and happy. My partner and I have a 9 month old English Bull Terrier who needs a lot of exercise and attention. After months of looking for a dog walker in SF and no luck due to full capacity or limitations due to our boy being intact we were ready to give up. I kept networking and came across a gal at Fort Funston who referred us to Jonathan. We were happy to receive a call back almost immediately and setup a home visit. During the visit, Alf quickly warmed up to Jonathan and his beautiful lab, Bella. You could say we are overprotective puppy parents and asked a billion questions but Jonathan answered any questions we had with ease and a happy attitude. We were extremely happy that Jonathan didn't shy away or "stereotype" our dog as others have done because he is a "bully breed." He confidently explained his philosophy on dog behavior and control. We were also happy to find out Jonathan is a black belt which gained points in our book. Protection A+++ The first few weeks were a challenge for us leaving our pup home alone while waiting to get picked up and getting used to the "routine." From anxiety, our pup went crap all over the place to which I would receive texts from Jonathan saying, "He pooped but I cleaned it." We were so embarrassed but Jonathan really took the time to clean and care for our pup during the transition. We were sure he was going to fire us but luckily he didn't. "Whew" Patience A+++ We can happily say that we no longer have issues with the "routine" of waiting for Jonathan. We notice a huge difference when we take Alf out on walks especially with his recall. Alf has good and challenging days which Jonathan keeps consistent in his training. Jonathan's dedication and love with our pup shines through in his behavior. Jonathan, Dave, and the rest of the fantastic MM team walked my Charlie girl every weekday for several months, and they are the absolute best. Charlie would hear the van pull into the driveway and then go sit in front of the door for her pickup, and when I opened the door, she would get crazy butt wiggles (and pee a little bit...she's still a puppy...) with excitement and happiness. I felt so comfortable knowing that she was safe and in good hands and having a great time running around with her furr-ends. She always came home thirsty, exhausted, smelling like pine needles, and content. I really appreciated how communicative and kind J and D are; also loved that they'd send me pictures and videos of her exploits at the park. The absolute best. We rescued a dog who turns out has severe anxiety with regard to leashes (not aggression, but very nervous around bikes, other dogs, cars, etc when on a leash but not off). The rescue agency lied about it and we live on Market Street...hardly a great place to walk our little guy with all the noise and his anxiety! We can take him to parks during the weekend because he's awesome off-leash, but were struggling with finding a good solution for the weekdays that didn't involve getting up at 5:30 when there were less cars/bikes/dogs around to scare him. Enter Johnathan, Dave, and Brendan and the whole team at Miller's Menagerie. They take him and our other dog on off-leash romps multiple times a week with their adopted "pack". The dogs adore them, they are so excited when they come, and better yet they are EXHAUSTED when they get back, sometimes for two days straight. They are so good with Indy (our lovable anxious little dude!) and Dobby, our French bulldog who just wants to fetch for an hour with them. It was tough finding a dog walker that had reliable reviews and whom we felt comfortable entrusting our young husky with. From the get-go, Jonathan was professional and responsive. You can tell he has been doing this for a while and has a experience with a wide variety of dogs. It was important for us to have a dog walker with experience with huskies since they can be challenging. He continues to evaluate her progress on leash before he gives her more freedom and has also been kind enough to offer individual training to improve her focus and overall interaction. They took over the business of Megan from K9 Safari when she retired from dog walking and they have since been walking my dog. So much good things to tell about them. Jonathan is always responsive, always available and very flexible for boarding (example: I've had a few last minute boarding requests and everything worked out well thanks to him). He always promptly reply to emails. He does know how to take great care of a business and accommodate his clients. We walk our dog with Marco - and the same can be said of him. He's always on time to take and bring him on his daily walks to McLauren park. He is also very responsive when there are changes in plans. There's no other way of putting this: my dog is kind of nuts. He's my best friend and I love him so much but he's hard to deal with sometimes. He's full of energy and barks at horses, other dogs, homeless people, bouncers... the list goes on and on. That being said, I wouldn't trust anyone but Jon and his crew to walk him and care for him. I found Jonathan and his team through a referral from a friend, a friend who uses Millers' Menagerie for both dog sitting and dog walking services, and who is also a Bull Terrier guardian like me. I was very pleased and relieved to find Jonathan and his team in December for dog sitting services during the Xmas holiday, as that time of the year can get quite hectic. There are four criteria that are important to me when looking for a potential dog sitter: (1) I am adamant about finding an individual, at-home service (who are, of course, licensed, bonded, and insured); (2) Related to the point above, it is important to me that the dog sitter can provide one-on-one and/or small-group attention for my pup; (3) The prices are reasonable and affordable; and (4) Preferably, the dog sitter has experience with Bull Terriers. Jonathan and his team met all four criteria! I want to further add that since Miller's Menagerie also provides daily dog walking services, they were able to give my pup daily outdoor walks/hikes/adventures with a dog pack in a dog park, which my pup loves. I also want to mention that Jonathan has two dogs of his own, who provided constant in-home companionship for my pup. This is a great bonus! Prior to the dog sitting, Jonathan visited our apartment to learn about my pup's feeding schedule and temperament and such. My pup gravitated towards Jonathan immediately and I could tell that Jonathan loves dogs and is very experienced with them. The actual pick-up and drop off for the dog sitting was super easy and convenient, as Jonathan came to me so I didn't have to travel. Jonathan provides picture/text updates upon request and every couple of days. Also, Jonathan is very prompt and reliable via text, which is always greatly appreciated. Jonathan and his team provided me with a peace of mind when I'm traveling. I will use Miller's Menagerie for future dog sitting services. Jonathan Millers and his crews are the far best dog walker and boarder that I had experienced.... i remember I bump in to one of the associates Brandon when he was around my neighborhood pick up another dog for walk and I walk up to him and ask, Brandon kindly and super cool give me Jonathan # to get in touch with him... I called and john came visit us at night around 8-9pm just to interview my boy Syrup (German shepherd ) I first have serious concern about how syrup will do with other dogs bc he does get little too serious over other dog, and not the most extravert or social butterfly. He like to keep it to himself and he 80lbs big guy. I was adopted when he was 3 yr old at a shelter and now his 5. so I worry a lot even when john come visit for the first time but it take john less than few mins to get him play with him and even getting ball out of his mouth, the first 10 mins they meet. Since Jan 17 til now... my boy will at least go to walk to MacLaren park at least a hour with the crew but usually won't be back home til 1-3 hours include other drop off.... and what I heard syrup had a good buddy name buster than they both like to hang around with.... and if you ask john to take some videos and pics he will love to show u within few hours. I mean, I'm extremely blessed john and the crew always around to help out.. and if he won't make it , certain they he will send out email couple week to let u know. And extremely flexible for me bc I always confirm with him usually early morning to whether syrup need a walk or not.... highly not recommend the way I inform John bc it sometime put them in an awkward and inconvenient scheduling.. but they always able to make it happen....syrup and I are happy that john and crew is in our hood... and u can tell my boy is sleepy and happy everything time I see him after his walk with john but of course syrup always happy to see me more wakakakakaka...well what can I say my son is a German shepherd...but I guess out side of my family zone, john and his crews is someone he love to hangout with!! Your guys can take my words to the bank.... friendly reminder it's not an hour typical walk On leash around the blocks but in a hiking park every single day.... so ur babies will get some goooooood exercise.... and sun tan... Our dog has been part of Jonathan's pack for about 2 years and I recommend Miller's to all of my friends in SF with dogs. They are great, professional, get them out of the house and socialized for a couple hours each time and the pup always comes back exhausted. Seriously, there is not a better deal around if your dog is dog friendly (our dog wants to play with other pups more than anything). A single 30 minute lonely walk is pretty much the app equivalent price wise but that option is shorter and less social. I vote for getting my dog: out for longer, socializing with other pups and working on training - which millers does. When we first got our dog, she was really nervous around people, Jonathan came over and met her first (and she really wasn't sure about him) but he sat on our couch and just chatted with us and she warmed up to him in no time. He's definitely helped with her overall training since they work on recall during the walks and it's no surprise dogs are better behaved when they're tired which we can always trust to be the case after her walks. And truly she just loves them now. Another struggle for us was that our dog is a pit mix (as many rescues are these days) and a lot of daycares in the area on paper aren't ok with that. Because he came to meet her and confirmed her temperament in person I felt so much better that she was being placed with/worked with by people who understand that a dog is a product of its home and training not just their breed. And the socialization and exercise which come with a walk improve temperament/behavior and confidence. Again, I really recommend him to all of my friends and a number of them since have reached out or currently use him. My husband and I were lucky enough to get recommended to Jonathan. Not only was he quick to respond, but he came by our house - took his time, met Chewy "Chew Dog" and the rest of the family. He is insured and bonded; which goes a long way! In addition he is very flexible on time and wants to go the extra step to ensure your dog is having a great time and is learning some important doggie lessons. Like listening, playing nice, be good with other dogs, and etc. My dog has been so responsive with Jonathan and is prancing throughout the house everyday. Having a dog walker is slightly addictive. I work a very weird schedule and my wife is a teacher who isn't available at all during the day. George is a sweet boy who is quickly learning that he is a 70lb pitbull with a ton of power and new found aggression! Jon and his team are the best! We were desperately looking for a good dog walker who can handle our rambunctious puppy and he came to the rescue. Our puppy took to Jon as soon as they met. Jon accommodates our crazy schedules - sometimes we need him 2 days a week sometimes 5 and he is always able to accommodate. A few times, I asked Jon to keep my puppy a bit longer because of evening classes, Jon was able to take care of that too. We were previously using a different service that made us pay for a monthly package, charged us even if we had to cancel when plans changed (even when we no longer had to board our dog because COVID shelter in place had just been enacted!), so we really appreciate the ease and flexibility of scheduling with Jonathan. Word's cannot even express how much I love Jon and Marco. I was having a hard time finding someone I trusted with our girl Brooklyn. She was a golden retriever puppy with a ton of energy. I happen to run into our neighbors across the street and they highly recommended Marco/Jon and their pup Maggie was a frequent member. They set up a time for us to meet with Brooklyn and I could tell that both of them just love dogs and cared about the well being of our girl. Marco picked up and drops off Brooklyn at the same time everyday and will let me know if she got a little dirty from her walk that day. I can't say enough amazing things about Jonathan and his team of dog walkers. We are total dog people, very protective of our little pooch, and we feel 100% comfortable leaving him with Jonathan. Furthermore, there are only few people in this world who love our dog as much as Jonathan... which makes use so happy! Jonathan and his team are nothing short of fantastic. Our pup started walks with Jonathan when he was about 5 months old, and we've noticed a huge improvement with his recall and off leash walking. Jonathan also took great care of our dog when he got sick and even dropped him off at the groomer for us. Well, where do I begin?! Jonathan and his team at Miller's Menagerie are truly as good as it gets. I would certainly call myself an over-protective dog mom. I am just a bit obsessed with my beloved little Nash, and am pretty darn picky about who cares for him when I am at work or away. In the over 3 years that Nash has been going to Jon and his team (he has had most contact with the awesome Jon and Dave) on a 4 times a week basis, I have not only been blown away not only by how much my little guy loves them, but also by how much they genuinely love and care about Nash! He is thrilled every single time they come to pick him up and is utterly exhausted at the end of every playgroup. I could not ask for more! I have left Nash with them for extended trips and vacations (even for 21 days while on my wedding/honeymoon) and I always have such peace of mind knowing Nash is having a blast (with picture updates all along to prove it!) They go out of their way to accommodate our schedule, and have saved us a trillion times when we needed last minute help in a pinch! I trust every single member of the crew completely. I really can't say enough for Jonathan and his team. When I rescued Milo he was a bit nervous around strangers. After we met with Jonathan he seemed to like him, but the next day when he came to take him on his first walk Milo was barking and growling and just wouldn't go with him. Jonathan didn't give up though. He came back the next day and did a test run with him, and we figured out the best way to ease him into the routine. Within a month, Milo couldn't wait for his walks and would come home a tired and happy pup. I've also boarded Milo with Jonathan when I went away for the weekend and he just had the best time! Milo is so much more social with other dogs since walking with Jonathan, and I can let him off leash to romp around with his puppy pals. Jonathan is not just great with dogs, but great with nervous doggie moms and dads. For the first few weeks he was checking in regularly and giving updates on Milo's progress. Whenever I need to change Milo's walk schedule he's very accommodating. Like I said, I really can't say enough positive things! read more
