Attempted to pick up my prescription refill today, and the person I encountered at the pharmacy was incredibly rude, insisting that they did not have any record of any prescriptions for me. She had zero eye contact and was very unhelpful. After a bit of back-and-forth, she did find the prescription, listed under my first name. This was a simple mistake, but she was so rude and was loudly speaking to me which was humiliating with other people waiting in line. There is no reason to be unkind, and this was completely uncalled for. Instead of being helpful, she was dismissive and insistent that she was correct while she was not. I wish I had gotten her name, but she was so rude I just wanted to get out of there after completing the transaction. So disappointing. read more

Extremely rude staff. Been coming here for years I'll never be back. Came here for a pain Rx for surgery. I went to fill my RX and They told me I would have wait. No problem. I told them I would be back tomorrow post surgery. My wife returned and they said they gave the Rx to someone else. I called and spoke with someone who went on to lecture me that "I'm not special" and she can't "Magically get my prescription back." I'm not sure what the policy is here but at a minimum I would expect the pharmacy to treat me with respect, dignity, maybe compassion god forbid. She just unloaded on me for no reason. Get the popcorn out for this one. On 10/22 I went to pick up 3 medications that were ready and filled. Came home and put my medication away. They only gave me 2. No biggie. Went on the app to have the medication mailed. Cited 2 business days. That would take me to 10/25. Tuesday comes and goes. So does Wednesday and Thursday. Nothing. I look up the number to call the pharmacy but in red text it says "Temporarily closed" I called the 800 number and I'm told there is a staff shortage but the medication was still there, however since they aren't open I have to go to another Walgreens location to fill it. Tried to explain I don't have a car, I use public transportation and I'd have to take my constantly cranky toddler with me which I'm not particularly interested in doing AND I've already waited 4 days for these meds. I asked why didn't anyone have the curtsy to call me or send out a text (like they do to let you know you need a refill or your doctor hasn't approved a prescription or ... you get where I'm going with this right?) not just for me but everyone else who goes here, more so for people who need meds to stay alive. The 800 rep told me the medication wasn't filled (let alone mailed out) and probably put back on the shelf. I mentioned how that's not ok and I didn't appreciate that because I needed them, I did what I was supposed to do, I was under the impression they we're going to be mailed etc. 800 agent said she "understands" and I requested to make complaint. So October 31st- Mid trick-or-treating with my kid I stop in. The pharmacy tech said the medication is there but not ready yet. So I'm explaining that it was ready on (10/22) but it wasn't given to me in store for some reason and that day *should have been* mailed/prepared to be mailed out after I put the order in that same day I thought they gave them all to me. On the app (where I requested the medication to be mailed) said I should receive it by the 25th. I continued to talk with the pharmacist assistant about this debacle. I made it obvious that when the store closes for a few days because there short staffed and don't let me know, put my medication away AND now I have to wait 30 minutes for it to be filled a second time, its not exactly the safest way to conduct a business when it comes to medicine that is important to live... I requested to have it ready for delivery by tonight AND expedited in the mail by tomorrow. I was already taking my kid out of her trick or treating fun to get my stuff done- which isn't what I came out for let alone think I'd need to wait MORE? Again... The assistant pharmacy technician (or whatever he's called) that I was talking too spoke to the pharmacist. She says she'll fill it in 3 minutes, asks it that's ok. I said sure. The pharmacist calls me to say it's ready. I go up to her and take my stuff and I ask her if I can ask a question. She says yes. I explain to her the whole situation and I tell her my issue is that when you guys abruptly close for days and not notify anyone it's actually really dangerous to a lot of people who depend on these medications to live- she cuts me off and huge attitude change- tells me "it wasn't in her control. How do you expect me to contact 100s of people to tell them their pharmacist has a medical emergency..." um what? I have no idea what she's talking about... she said that's why the pharmacy was closed... But online it said the store was temporarily closed not the pharmacy part... what the hell?? Why would the store be closed if it's just the pharmacy tech that's out... seriously this is getting beyond ridiculous... I interject and say a text or email would work, maybe even an automated call- I mean they have those these days for when our stuff is ready so implement that same idea to when you put it back on the shelf or not mail it out like it's scheduled to be- It's an idea to consider and I thought it was a pretty good one not like it's far from the automated calls we get about our prescriptions already, right? The pharmacist gets even more nasty saying "she's the only pharmacist here and had no way to do what I suggested. I told her that i understand there's no way *yet* but it was an idea to bring up so people don't get sick because the pharmacist is sick and I guess no one can answer the STORE phone if the pharmacist isn't in. It's also odd that online it says the location is temporarily closed but it's just a part of it, it's not the whole store. Uh huh. She keeps being rude and I had to remind her -I was told it was a staff shortage- NOT a medical emergency. Even so you can't just not let people know they shouldn't expect there medications. I asked for her name she said it was Zoe and she basically said "go ahead call corporate and complain. My concern addresses the lack of enforcement of the dog policy. Walgreens clearly posts the corporate policy regarding service dogs as allowed, but how can, on any given day, there be multiple "service dogs" in the store of various breeds? Staff and management will not address the owners by asking the 2 questions they are allowed to ask by MA law regarding service dogs. As a person with allergies, I find their lack of willingness to enforce code replusive. They do not want to "offend" a customer. I too, am a customer, who abides by the law. Tonight, the pharmacy manager actually became confrontational with me when I asked her to follow through with her responsibility. Of all places, a health code should be enforced in a pharmacy. read more

Grrr. This Walgreens makes me mad - enough to send multiple messages to the company, only to receive a single, dismissive response. Walgreens' response included (exact quote), "Please be assured that all the facts of this matter have been documented and forwarded to management for review. A member of management will properly address your concerns." I have never heard back from anyone, despite replying several times. The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is that the cashiers have been pleasant and parking is easy. I have been frequenting this location for years, and liked it back when it was a Rite Aid. Yes, the store is a little dated, inside and out, but it always had the basics that I needed. Since the change to Walgreens, it has been very disappointing. First, they got rid of many products and the inventory of what products they do have is lower. You can see empty shelves and spaces where shelves once were. I spoke to a staff member there about this and she explained that Walgreens stores are smaller than Rite Aid and they essentially have too much space at this location. Apparently, the company has standard sizes for its stores and cannot deviate from these to accommodate different sized spaces. I have seen long lines at the pharmacy counter, but I no longer use the pharmacy there for prescriptions, so I cannot comment on that experience. Parking is easy, but they just added several signs to make things more difficult, including a "no left turn" sign on East Broadway. Cars coming out of the parking lot were never a problem, so now people heading east after shopping are inconvenienced further. Walgreens, you're killing your brand image with this store. I'm taking my business to CVS until things improve. read more

I went the other day, an employee did not put my lipliner in my bag. I got home realized it was missing and called for her to hold it for me. I went back two days later and and it was lost. Everyone looked at me like I was stupid and it was so frustrating because I never got it back or a refund because the employee told me that I didn't need to bring my receipt when J went to pick it up. Left hanging! I had an appointment in Dorchester for the covid booster shot at 2:50 with a confirmation number. Just as I'm getting in my car at 2:00 the store calls me to say the pharmacist is leaving for the day. They tell me that I can try to go to another Wallgreens. So I went to the store in south Boston on East Broadway with a copy of the letter with all my information and confirmation number and was told that they don't do walk ins. This chain SUCKS!!! I went to a lot of trouble to adjust my schedule for that appointment, I work 60 hours a week. read more

I have decided to move my prescriptions to another pharmacy due to the many problems I have experienced at this pharmacy/store. Let me say the limited staff there is terrific and I feel bad that they probably get the brunt of complaints when it's Walgreens who is ultimately responsible for some of these problems. The pharmacy staff has to deal with an inadequate & antiquated phone system. This happens often, you call & get into the que with maybe 2-3 calls ahead of you and as you work your way up to number one you get disconnected. Plus if I hear about the pharmacist and his lunch hour anymore/we'll I compare it to 1-800 for kids and the car ad. I've also had mistakes made with my prescriptions and that might be the pharmacy or manufacturer's fault. The staff does it utmost to correct all of this. The store is dirty and no staff or customers should have see that. There is no comparison to Osco's Walgreens do your job and take care of this. read more

Worst rite aid pharmacy in the damn north east. The pharmacy is so so so so slow. Every single time I'm there Picking up meds-regardless of the time/# of people working/ other people waiting for their stuff it ends up being a 30 min ++++ ordeal. More importantly, I have felt (and witnessed other customers) as though my privacy and confidentially had been completely disregarded while checking out. Horrible pharmacy, do not care about patients or try to resolve issues. Went to pick up Rx after an urgent care visit and the pharmacist, with an attitude, said he knew what the medication was but nobody sent it over. Had the doctor call the pharmacy and said nobody answered. When I went back to the pharmacy and told them this, they said the phone was down and Comcast hasn't come to fix it. Zero care for patients from the pharmacist or techs. Will be transferring my other medication to another pharmacy... a Rx which this pharmacy also misread the prescription and resulted in a delay of refill due to their error. read more

This store is a total cluster f%$k. The pharmacy is the most inept I've ever seen. Been going there for years as Rite-aid and never had a problem that couldn't be rectified in ten minutes. Just today I was on hold with the pharmacy for two hours total, three separate calls. Twice after forty minutes right when I was next call in line , they disconnected me. That's an hour and twenty minutes for you math fans. The one time I got someone, it was like taking to a tree. They called me telling me my 97 year old Mothers pill were out of stock. They said they were getting an order in on Monday. So I called and they said they didn't know what was on the truck and to call back. I did and put on hold for hours and then hung up on. Jacqueline went above and beyond great customer service. I sent pictures on line to be printed for my father's funeral / wake to be displayed at the service the next morning. They were having problems with the printer. She spent hours on the phone with tech support and got the printer working. She called us a couple of times with updates and then finally, at 9:45pm to tell us the pictures were ready. The store closed at 10pm and we were 30 minutes away. She knew what the pictures were for and she kept the store open for us so we could have the pictures for the service. I am so grateful for her compassion and exceptional customer service. This is my favorite Rite Aid around. Suuuure... you get some characters lingering outside from time to time but once inside, you are greeted by orderly aisles, shiny floors and smiling staff. As the previous reviewer stated, the parking lot is clutch. Easy in and out with a back entrance that lets me sneak down H street back to my apartment with ease. They have a great health and beauty section where I have never had a problem finding all of the different products I use. I can find my SPECIFIC L'Oreal Extra Intense onyx black eyeliner there without fail.. when the CVS on Broadway never carries it. I love that I never have to wait in line here either. The aforementioned CVS is always packed, cramped and full of lines. Since moving to the other side of Southie, this place is my go to for all my girly needs that dont require a trip to Sephora or the mall... Yay Rite Aid. read more

The best thing about this Rite Aid is the private parking lot. But if you live on the East side, you can walk there- no parking required. This is a strangely organized place, with aisles diagonally oriented throughout the store, odd clusterings of unrelated items, and inadequately signage. Only once did I encounter a staff person working the floor, and it was awkward: "Can I help you?" Um sure, I'd really like to tell you about the personal and/or embarrasing item I am looking for. Why are the store signs so bad!?? Cashiers, however are lovely. No cashier has ever volunteered details of her diarrheal illness, which is an improvement over CVS down the street. read more

This pharmacy is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I waited in line for 40 minutes for a prescription that was called in the mornin before. When I got to the counter, I was told that the prescription wasn't ready and would take 15-20 minutes to fill. After waiting 25 minutes, I went to the counter to speak with the pharmacist. He was having his dinner and not filling anything. I realize everyone has to eat, but if they told me that it would be another hour to fill my prescription, I would have come back. Last month, I went to pick up my prescription and they told me my doctor cancelled it, when I called my doctor she said that this was not true and contacted the pharmacy. When I went to pick it up, they could not find it. This place is a joke. They are unprofessional and often rude. read more

Safe to say I'm done with Walgreens. Saw the pharmacy manager berate an elderly man tonight, who only had ~$2 in change for a $4 prescription. The elderly man asked if he could come back the next day with the rest. "That's like not having enough money for a soda. You don't get to take half a soda home and come back to pay later." Immediately upon takeover of the Brooks they crammed in a couple more aisles full of junk and treated the leftover Brooks employees like s**t. The management here has no clue about customer service, employee relations or community service. This store has everything I need in a pinch and has bailed me out on more than one occasion. It's open late, has a huge parking lot and the staff is usually helpful. The checkout line is never too long although the cashier's do tend to be on the slower side. Sometimes, they are out of stock on some items which is annoying but it has never been something that was essential to my survival. The pharmacist is helpful and I've never had to wait for more than 5 minutes to fill a prescription. read more

If they are out of her medicine they are not helpful to call other pharmacies. People are always waiting and irate due to all the confusion. We are leaving to go to CVS. Pros: Huge parking lot that's easy to get in and out of, friendly staff, clean, spacious, well-stocked. They have EVERYTHING! I also appreciate the fact that I am able to drop in the day before Easter and find all the acutrouments for an adorable and unhealthy Easter basket that makes me look like the best auntie around. Same goes for all other last-minute holiday shopping sprees. Cons: The pharmacy on a Monday night. You round the corner into the cold medicine aisle any time past 5pm and your heart is sure to drop at the sight of 10 people in front of you, at least one of whom has a full basket of merchandise and some sort of insurance/refill issue. And confidentiality be damned.....on one particularly busy night, they had customers yelling out their name and date of birth while standing in line so they cold get the orders off the shelves. I don't know what it is about this pharmacy, but literally every time I come here there is a problem. I came in a few months ago and the girl told me that she "could not find my insurance information". I immediately called my insurance to sort it out and they in turn called the pharmacy back. The insurance rep told me all my information was in the system and all the info on my insurance card was accurate so she didn't know what went wrong... Then again yesterday, I go in for a Rx and she tells me that don't have it. She then shouts across the pharmacy, "what Rx is this again?" Call me crazy, but maybe I don't want to announce what medication I am taking in front of the 6 other people in line. Of course, when I left, I called my doctor, who informed me she had faxed my Rx to them yesterday and they should have filled it my now. read more
