I rarely write reviews, however this pharmacy is so bad I felt compelled to warn others who rely on medications due to chronic illness. I was prescribed hydroxychlorquine in October for an autoimmune disease that had started attacking my kidneys. I chose to have the prescription sent to this Walgreens as it is the closest to my house. For some reason, every single month, when it's time to refill my prescription which is for a 30 day supply, they fill it wrong and instead do a 7 day supply. This forces me to have to spend at least 30 mins on hold to get someone on the phone to fix it. Like clockwork, they all say my insurance is to blame. Then they actually look at my file after I tell them they are not correct and they figure out I have had an authorization on file since November from my insurance and fix it. Every single month. Same dance. This month they did it again, only this time I got the runaround for several days via phone so I went there in person. The lady behind the counter was very rude and stated that my prescription could not be filled until tomorrow because I allegedly picked it up already 6 days ago. No. You filled it wrong 6 days ago. I have been trying to get you to fix it. I never picked it up. Your own automated system says it's ready for pickup. You filled it wrong. Anyway, she basically accused me of lying and said she would need to check the cameras (I will be calling the pharmacy manager Monday to insist they do indeed check the cameras) I want an explanation as to what is going on over there. Despite the fact that I had my last bottle in my hand saying it was filled in 2/24 for 30 days. Which means another 30 days should have been ready 3/24. I don't know if this is a glitch in their computer system or what, but I finally had enough and called CVS to transfer my prescription over there. I have gone almost a week without my medication due to their incompetence. I know several people who take this medicine for lupus, RA, and other autoimmune diseases. None of them have had this issue. Why is this pharmacy so resistant to filling that particular medication? I have others that I get and never have a problem. You may recall, last year Donald Trump said people could take this drug for covid which caused an uproar. After that, there was a lot of negative context placed upon this drug and it became very hard for a lot of people to get. Despite the fact people with Lupus have taken this drug for decades. I feel like this particular Walgreens has some kind of flag in their computer for this drug in particular that is causing this to happen. I'd hate to think that Walgreens is letting their politics dictate what prescriptions they fill, but at this point I can't think of any other explanation. If my doctor writes a prescription for 30 days and my insurance agrees to pay for 30 days.. then who are you as a pharmacy to change the prescription that was written for me? Long story short.. if you rely on a medication that you must take daily in order to sustain you. Don't use this pharmacy.
Update EDIT: Just got a call from CVS on Shanefield and 1560. They called to transfer yesterday at 4:30 PM and already have it ready. They also filled the prescription for a three month supply! You mean to tell me I have been fighting this Walgreens to get more than 7 days of meds at a time and my friggen insurance approved it to be filled for three months at a time?!?! Absolutely outrageous. Walgreens is garbage. I will still be calling the manager tomorrow. I want an explanation. read more
