In short, this place is a dump. I live less than a mile from here, but go to other locations further away. The store is always dirty. The shelves are always bare. I don't know if it's lack of inventory or lack of people to stock. You'll probably be asked for money by panhandlers on your way in. It has a security guard...whose nose is always buried in their phone. They have a security guard table at the front of the store which is always more dilapidated than the last time I was in (it's rather entertaining to see how long it can last). There's just nothing nice about this place. The cashiers are meh. Some are friendly, some don't speak to you, but I will say they're never outright rude. They're definitely never in a hurry, though. I've never been brave enough to use the pharmacy here. My suggestion is to use any other Walgreens. read more

I've been going to several Walgreens looking for a particular Halloween candy (it's the season!) and out of the several I've been to so far, this one has been the sketchiest. The doors are beat up and the entrance is dirty and unwelcoming, as is the security guard stationed just inside. But it had THREE of the candy I was looking for and the cashiers were friendly and efficient. read more

Worst experience ever with the pharmacy! I came at 1:20pm and they would not start to fill my prescription because they take lunch at 1:30pm. I came back at 2:15pm and Michelle says to come back in 2 hours to pickup my meds. At 4:50pm I arrived at the drive through and waited an additional 20 minutes until she came to the window and said she'd be with me in a moment. Another 30 minutes passed before I was helped, just to be told they didn't fill my entire order because they needed a new insurance(which happens to already be on file being I recently picked up a prescription not even 3 weeks ago). I then was told I had to wait another 15-20 minutes. For someone who was just discharged from the hospital and heavily relying on specific medications, this location was not fast AT ALL. There's a sign in the window that says get your prescription in up to 30 minutes and that is false advertisement. I am very disappointed to say the least and will be changing my pharmacy location after this experience. read more

Normally I don't write reviews but I had to let people know what is going on. This Walgreens is in a urban area with a high crime rate. They have armed security at the front entrance. Just because it is in a low income minority area does not mean you have to give ghetto customer service. They have a new manager that is refusing to accept FedEx packages. First she said the packages were to large. I called FedEx and they advised the packages were with in the 40 lbs weight limit and size limit. When I informed the manger of the FedEx guidelines she explained there was limited space and she did not want to be responsible for shoplifters stealing peoples packages. When I picked up my packages yesterday the red head assistant manger informed me that her manger said they would not be accepting any more of these large packages. I advised the assistant manager that the packages are with in the weight and size limit per FedEx regulation. The red head assistant manager is very rude. I have seen other customers have issue with her. You basically have a white management staff servicing a black lower income area. These managers don't live in the area and don't know how to effectively service this type of community. Walgreens needs minority leadership at this store in order for it to be successful. I have called FedEx corporate customer service as well as Walgreens corporate customer service to complain on this manger and the service I have received from Walgreens. The reason I had my packages redirected to Walgreens is because people will steal packages off my porch. When Walgreens refuses to accept my packages it can take up to 2 additional weeks to get them. This new manger needs to be transferred to a Walgreen Store in the suburbs. read more

First things first. The pharmacists at this location are outstanding. And quite frankly they deserve better. Decent people should not be required to place themselves in harm's way by being forced to go to this location just to get prescriptions filled. My wife and I have individually been threatened by a homeless man wielding a golf club, solicited for prostitution, offered drugs and been harassed by aggressive panhandlers in this store's parking lot. In a phone conversation, the store's manager told me the store should "have a fence around the entire parking lot with 24-hour police protection, because the neighborhood makes the store unsafe." Wow! Unfortunately, for those of us who live in Soulard, Lafayette and other decent neighborhoods, we're left with the Walgreen's on Lafayette, which has ridiculous banker's hours, or Hampton Avenue if we feel the need to be safe. If you're wondering why people stay away from the City, this is one of the reasons. If you can find a different pharmacy in a safer neighborhood that your insurance will accept, run don't walk. read more

I was going to this Walgreens pharmacy for 18 years. They used to be a good place. But I noticed a lot of employees getting fired and a high turnover. Every month there was a problem getting my meds filled correctly. This finally became such a problem that after all those years I had to stop going there. I now drive about 7 miles as opposed to 3 blocks to CVS. I find out that the Walgreens was way overcharging for all of my prescriptions the entire time. I am glad to make the drive to CVS. I don't want to return to Walgreens ever. read more

I am surprised by the other review, I'm not disputing it at all, but I have been to this store frequently as I work by the brewery and I have not experienced the same atmosphere. I have only once been asked for change by a man outside and I think that is pretty common in that neighborhood. I give this location 5 stars for the outstanding staff, they really are great! read more
