This is the second time in 3 months that they were out of stock on a popular mainstream medication. I got a message on my answering machine 11/10 or regarding my prescription and returned that call on 11/15 (I was on vacation). I asked if the script was ready for pickup and was told it was out of stock. I grumbled a bit and the story changed; now it IS in stock but cannot be filled until 11/21 (not a Walgreen issue, insurance rules).
Then I was asked, despite my call asking if the script is ready to be picked up, if I would like it filled. I was tempted to ask the staffer why else would I ask if it were ready for pickup, but I was not in the mood for a lecture from the pharmacist about how fragile the feelings of her staff are.
As far as impending store closing goes, I can think of no other reason for repeated, frequent and regular out of stock issues than dwindling sales causing corporate managers to reduce inventory levels as they decide what to do with the store. Given the level of inconvenience suffered by customers, the reason behind such a situation, if it does exist, is clear. read more
