I do like JC Penney, especially since I've returned to working in a business-casual environment…read more Something is always on sale, but with that comes inventory that's really picked over; at least in my case. I either wear a very common size, or they only receive 2 of my size per style to begin with and don't restock very often. JC Penney has a petites section, which I take advantage of. I have shorts legs and very large thighs, so this department is a saving grace. Again, sizes can really be picked over if you're a 6-8. I find this to be the case at the Edgewood Rd. location in nearby Cedar Rapids, too. I visited the location at Coral Ridge Mall today for undergarments. Specifically, shapewear. Very picked over in this area, but I did find something that will work. Finding an open dressing room was another story. Most of them are closed, so you might have to wait to try things on. Customer service has always been outstanding here, albeit hard pushes for their credit card. Today I was asked twice about saving 30%. I finally had to respond by saying, "I don't use credit cards." I know employees are only doing their job, but saying 'no' once is all it should take. Store is typically clean and tidy, at least through the week when I shop. Merchandising hasn't changed at the Coral Ridge Mall location since my visit a month ago. Displays and inventory all looked the same. Nothing new caught my eye in the women's clothing departments. It appears that once they've stocked for the season, that's it. I spent several years in retail, so maybe this is just more noticeable to me. A do have a complaint as far as a company policy is concerned: any rebates you earn (say around Black Friday) are given to you via a Visa debit card. These Visa cards have a very short period of time in which they can be used. I received a rebate card of $10 in December and the card expired in June of 2022. 6 months is not long.

So you better believe we stock up when we come here! This year, we happened to be in Iowa City during Black Friday and we decided to brave the crowds and go to Costco. To our surprise, it was not as chaotic and crowded as we thought it would be. I'd say it was a typical crowd that you would see on a Sunday, maybe a tad more shoppers. We stocked up on all of our essentials in preparation for the winter season and now our fridge and pantry are well filled. We even snagged a box of 24 cans of Spindrift for $9.99 which is absolutely the best deal we've seen for Spindrift. We also got a huge cut of New York strip steak for $7.99 per lb which will last us for months! All in all, this Costco is well stocked, well organized, and clean. The lines move pretty quickly, especially since they have a self-checkout and regular check out line. Service is efficient and there is a covered parking lot with lots of parking spaces. We are happy with our haul and will be back the next time we're in the city :)

I like the store because it is small, you don't have to deal with the sheer numbers of people, noise, or fluorescent lighting, as any of the other stores in town. It can get pretty busy sometimes, but the checkout lines usually run pretty quick and the staff is nice. Not a LARGE selection of food and drinks, but enough to get you through a few days. Good little store. I very much hope it stays small so I don't always have to go to one of the big stores.

Right when you walk in you are met with a large selection of produce, ALL of which is certified organic; most of it looked nice and fresh, a few wrinkled zucchini and peppers. Prices about average for organic produce. I walked in with an empty plastic water bottle hoping for a place to recycle it, but they don't have on site recycling for customers. Their selection of vitamins and supplements is insane!! It almost felt like a GNC in that part! I like how there are signs at the top of the aisles clearly marking where things were in this section, made it easy to find homeopathic allergy remedies. Right next to the supplements is their also impressive personal care section. They have such a selection of soaps, facial care, even make-up! I found different scents of soaps I already use, which was fun! I will definitely be back just because of that!
