We found Wales West quite by accident after calling numerous parks from Pensacola on westward while evacuating from Hurricane Irma. All we needed was a safe spot to hook up and wait out the storm - but we found so much more. First, the staff; so welcoming and they accommodated every rig they could with a lower "refugee" rate. Second, the residents; all wonderful and friendly. We met most all of them and they were so concerned for us and glad we made it to their park. The park itself is soooo cute. It has a resident part and a camper's part. But the best part was the trains! There is a railway station, the building covered in gingerbread, with trains going out around the park twice a day. There are steam trains and a small, sit-on-top train for kids. The park also has a big swim lake with a slide, hayrides, a haunted forest, and Santa's workshop. It is all lit up at night. Each night they held a social where everyone came out to meet up. On our first night, we went to the s'mores social and the second night there was an ice cream social. We met park staff, residents, fellow Floridians fleeing the storm, and all the pups and kids along with. These were wonderful evenings. The staff went above and beyond for us too. We were traveling with our two Siberian Huskies and, after two days of driving, really need to run off some energy. They do not have a dog park, but we took them into the children's playground, which was fenced, each night after the socials. The staff came out and didn't chase us out, but instead showed us how to turn on the lights so we could spend some time and let the dogs run around. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT WALES WEST! You made our stress go away and we had a marvelous stay. We would love to come back for Christmas to see the grounds all lit up for the holidays. I'm sure it will be magical.

The great thing about this RV Park is that it is very quiet. We love the fact that it is so peaceful. They also have pull through sites which are nice. The playground for children is very nice. Of the things we don't like, hence the 3 stars, is that while they advertise internet and cable neither were available during our 3 night stay. The camping spaces are quite close together. We had a neighbor come in late at night and woke up to find him parked about 10ft from our camper. This is also an RV Park that is heavily used as mobile home residences. It would be nice to know prior to booking that they have a good number of permanent residents. I will add that the folks who live there that we spoke to are very very nice. But, if you want to feel like you are camping, this isn't the place for you, at least it wasn't for us due to the number of storage sheds and satellite dishes. The train is cute although we didn't see it run. The yards are well maintained. $45 a night with a Good Sam discount is a bit hefty for no WiFi or cable. That was disappointing. She did tell us that the WiFi would be up and working the day after we arrived and the cable was supposed to be working. If those are important to you, I'd check before coming. We were visiting family so chose to stay.

Awesome place with a great crew! They make the holidays super special and make you feel right at home.

This is part of the Easter train ride where they go see the Easter Bunny

But I can only speak of our experience because this was our first time here. Hopefully they will continue to improve and we will stay here again someday. The things that led us to book here after a recent tour of the property are the same things that will unfortunately prevent us from booking here again. Let me explain: Pull through sites are great, but the roads are incredibly narrow and most people were parked out into the roadways. The entire right side of the park (the side with trees) looks like people live there full time. We know that several do because we were told this but the guests themselves, that they stay there rent free in exchange for part time help around the park. They have decks and fences and tons of potted plants and lights. The side we were on, for visitors, had no trees and no picnic tables. That makes no sense. Now the fun part that drew us in - the pool is beautiful. My kids enjoyed the waterslides, but people, including adults, wanted to hang out in the pool area at the bottom of the slides and then get annoyed at them for splashing and/or almost hitting them when they came off the slide. There's no staff members to tell you when it's clear to slide and you can't see the bottom from the top. There's no staff to keep people clear of the slide ext tubes. Common sense tells you to not block slide exits, so if you get hit or splashed, it's your own fault. Lazy River was nice, until it wasn't. Rules say no glass bottles in pool area, alcohol is allowed but must be covered, and cannot be in the pool itself - but no one listened. Adults were floating around with their beer bottles in hand. They would stand in corners/curves of the lazy river blocking the flow of the people floating and would be annoyed when floating people bumped into them. Again, there is no staff to regulate these things. I'm a drinker, a party-er, and all that. But there's a time and place for everything and that wasn't it. You have to be respectful of the other people around you that are trying to enjoy the amenities. The snack bar at the pool wasn't open, nor was the Lakeside Grill in the community center building. For $20 more per night, keep driving and go to Splash RV Resort in Milton. They have a much bigger lazy river with a lifeguard controlling the flow, waterslides that even adults can get on with staff at the top and bottom letting you know when to go and keeps the line moving and everyone safe. A family pool, separate adult-only pool, Tiki Bar that serves beer, mixed drinks, a small food court, and more.
