Then the lady who booked us also told us the electric was 15-20$ but we are being charged almost 100.00 for the electric. Then Sid gave my husband a job in May and on our move out date, he changed his mind on. And my husband is extremely hard working and will go above and beyond for his employer. But your employees barely do anything. They just pick up the trash bag and that's it. The employees you have working here are so rude and they make up rules as they go.. If they do not want smokers smoking in certain places, put up signs where you do not want people to smoke at! I have never seen them even test the pool and I run every morning! All they do is pick up the trash at the end of the driveways. This park has potential but they need to hire people who are actually willing to work! I have even heard customers complain about how nasty the cabins are. They never clean the inflatables either! We have spent a lot of money to be mistreated. And not to be able to use the ammentities you guys supposedly offer because your employees refuse to actually clean them! Not to mention, I've walked around this park every night cleaning the loose trash (3-4 trash bags) that your employees are to lazy to do. 10/10 this place isn't worth it! This wasn't even that bad

Hoping this will be an annual event, as the art community convened a plein air event, bringing together artists with the inspiration of Gulf State Park's many habitats. The result was a large number of paintings which were for purchase at the closing reception at the end of the week. The weather was mild, the food and drink at The Lodge was yummy (I had the steak and eggs for brunch), and it was so cool to watch the artists paint live.

I've spotted alligators, blue heron, turtles, lizards.. very cool! All the campsite hosts are friendly and our check-in was very easy and we were also greeted with welcoming service. We chose campsite number 479 right next to Mission Lake and the pedestrian bridge that takes you to the ocean. This campground is so clean, beautiful, and offers multiple bathrooms with showers and restrooms. The bathrooms are clean and the showers have enough space to shower and change. Each campsite I've seen has a dump station and water, which has come in handy. There's also Wi-Fi! There's also a restaurant on the campgrounds and tomorrow night we are going to listen to live music and have a few drinks. I've truly loved my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone! We were only going to stay for four nights but we extended it to a week because we are having such a great time.

The speed limit is 5 MPH and we all obey (low dust and much safer). Friendly folk stay here. Some use it as a base to explore the area, some to recharge their batteries. The office has two single person bathrooms with a bathroom (cleanest and best smelling bathroom I've ever used). Sit by the bay or go fishing from the pier while George the Heron waits for handouts. Evenings feature a social circle around the chimera. This campground is a hidden gem 15 minutes from the hub-bub of activity. Well-behaved dog friendly with a designated walking area. No playground, pool or game room, but the office has books and games to borrow, as well as a coffeemaker. Laundry and Ice are on site. Going west, you can go to Fort Morgan of take the ferry to Dauphin Island (check out Sassy Bass bar and grill). Going east, you have Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and all the Gulf activities you can afford. BTW... go grocery shopping at Rouses, excellent deli, great seafood and meat (aged beef) and ready cooked food. Happy Pappy Coffee is my favorite stopping place.

Although it is 10 dollars per fisherman and 3 dollars for sightseeing to enter the pier, it is worth it. There is also an15 dollar parking fee but it comes with a fishing pass for a day.

I had no idea that they had started charging to go to the far end of the pier as that wasn't the case when I last visited. As a veteran I get free parking and also free entrance to the pier. I never saw any signage that indicated I had to pay to walk out to the pier but I did get yelled at for just walking out on the pier past the "commercial zone" and had to show my military veteran ID to proceed. I found it odd that I was somehow magically supposed to know that there was a fee or requirement to show my veteran ID when I never saw any sign to that effect. The lady that yelled at me came out of a door so she was inside where I couldn't have seen her so they should certainly add some signs that explain what they want more clearly to avoid weird situations like this. They also have a restaurant and bar here but I would suggest eating somewhere else. The pier does seem to be a decent place to fish and I saw several people bringing in some nice sized fish. Overall this seems like a good option if you want to fish off a pier or just enjoy the great view here. If I had to pay to just walk to the end of the pier I wouldn't have done that as you can get a good enough view from the "commercial zone" where the bar and restaurant are located. Overall this is an interesting spot to check out but I just heard they have raised the price of parking so that might make this area less attractive to visit.

The bathhouse, laundry room, activity room, gym, and pool were all well maintained. They have trash pick up at your site at 10:00. They clean restrooms at 11:30. It's all laid out so you can plan your day. A lot of loungers and chairs at the pool. They put us on the outside line for campers and we were grateful to not be in the middle backed up to another camper. Staff were all very friendly. We will for sure return to this campground.

However you have to tune out the constant traffic noise of the over pass directly above! This only applies if your lucky enough to get one of the two spots where p As Chris Farley said, "I live in a van down by the river ..!" Needs the words added "under the bridge!" The people are nice, but the row of campers permanently parked along the water leaves 2 spots available for transient people coming through. Otherwise, your in a mobile home park complete with old broken down trailers and all sorts of broken machinery around including old vehicles outside of old worn out decks and custom awnings. People have grown out of their trailers and have refrigerators and "junk" strewn about everywhere. In spite of that it is safe and the people are nice who have the view. They have it all! The rest have to deal with looking st each other and talking over the road noise. Pot holes fill the streets guaranteed to shake everything loose inside your rig, the public spaces such as the bathrooms... well just look at the pictures and you decide. I walked in, looked around, turned around then walked out never to return. My camper was sprayed by the ferrel cats that dominate the shoreline. I'm an animal lover, but I'll be dog gone if I'm gonna let cats smell up my trailer!

I am very disappointed. I have camped at Southport before, and have been attempting to contact them to make a reservation for about 3 weeks. First, upon calling the voicemail box was full. Then, when trying to call again I received an auto text response that indicated that they were on another line. I have e-mailed the address listed on the site twice, neither of which received a response. I tried calling again multiple times and received the same text. Finally on April 30th, I decided to text the auto response message and request information on a reservation - and got a response requesting to know how many people and tents I would need. I replied with the information, and that was the last I heard from them. It is now May 8th, and after repeated voice mails and text messages requesting information on the rental, I have been completely ignored. The phone has never been answered and I have attempted to call many times. I would not recommend this campsite to anyone.
