I have not heard of candlepin bowling before and was told it must be a New England thing. Do I want try something I haven't completely done before? The answer it yes and there isn't any other option. The establishment has a retro vibe with cash only, a musky smell like your grandmas house, and a do it yourself scoring system with none other then a piece of paper and pencil. The pins are thinner, balls significantly smaller, and three trys to knock the pin down instead of two. Thank goodness for technological advances such as our phones otherwise we would've been clueless on how to score. It is somewhat similar to bowling but if I didn't know any better maybe I could've been in second place or even first. Reality is, I wasn't given any luck or skill for candlepin bowling for a newbie so I stuck to the bottom of the score board. I don't remember but I don't think food is sold there. The lanes closes at 10PM. When we got there some time before 8PM, it was packed. We had to wait for about 15 - 20 minutes for a lane to open up. We were the last group before the alley closed but we had enough time for at least three games.

I absolutely love this place! It brings you back in time with the old school feel. Not many of these places exist anymore, so be sure to stop in! You have candle pin bowling and paper to keep score. It is cash only, so be sure to bring enough, but it's totally worth visiting!

You bowl your slightly larger than fist-sized bowling ball three times in a row and you go twice (there are more differences, but those are the main ones). We paid for 30 minutes at first and thing extended it to 45 minutes. I would recommend at least 45 minutes / 1 hour because once you start going, I don't think 30 minutes is enough. The only reason I'm subtracting a star is because sometimes our lanes didn't pick up properly and the timer for the extension cut short a little bit.

All of them are being torn down, and I'm not really a fan of King's or Jillian's. This place is reasonably priced, they serve food, they serve alcohol (wine and beer), and it's a real, old-school bowling alley that does candlepin bowling. They offer glow-in-the-dark bowling too, but we just did the candlepin. They also have an arcade and Keno, if you're so inclined. You can bowl for either an hour or half hour. I thought the prices were reasonable -- I think it was under $35 for an hour, including shoe rentals for three people. The people working there were very friendly, the place is clean, and it's loaded with charm. You feel as if you're stepping into another era coming here, and I love that.

There's a lot I could say here but…read more.. I made a reservation at Lucky Strike days in advance because we were excited. Most of us hadn't bowled in years (or ever), and this was supposed to be a farewell outing for a friend. We left wondering, did that really just happen? It took forever to even be acknowledged. We ordered drinks, a pizza, and a sampler. The server suggested a pitcher deal (cool, thanks) only for the soda to come out tasting like straight carbonation with no flavor. Turns out the machine was broken. Fine. We asked for water, somehow that was a problem too. Our sampler? Never came. When we asked about it, the server really said "who did you order that with?" and then told us it wasn't her, while I'm sitting there knowing we ordered it with her. Instead of owning it, she argued. Wild. They "fixed" the soda machine and brought us flat soda. At that point, just take it away. We ordered lemonades instead which took 20 minutes and she (the manager) forgot one, then caught an attitude when we said something. When the sampler finally came, the chicken was literally falling apart and touched the table when they put it down. We ate the germs. The manager kindly told us she removed the pitcher from the bill and added the lemonades. That however, doesn't make up for bad food, worse service, and a completely ruined experience. We paid to be annoyed the entire time. I wouldn't come back.

Football season too so we wanted some place cool go watch the game with a fun activity and food--boom, Lucky Strike. Though they had a bowling special since it was a Sunday night of unlimited bowling after 7pm, we opted out as we were tired. Instead, we bought reloadable game cards to play on the machines. They have classic arcade games such as ski-ball, air hockey, and even pinball machines. Then there are some newer ones as well. I really liked the giant connect four and the pink panther game. Unfortunately a few games we played didn't work and I had to run around and find a staff member so they could fix my credits. After playing the games we headed over to the bar to catch some of the game and eat. They had booths all around the bar with QR codes on the table so you can order/pay from your phone and they bring it to you. There were TVs and projectors as well surrounding. Though the staff was nice the food took a long to go be prepared, and the place was empty during the snow storm. We ordered the appetizer sampler which was pretty good, but we didn't care for the chicken. I did like the pretzels and mozzarella sticks. Some other fun stuff they had included pool tables, shuffleboard, and a photo booth you could use by swiping your game card. Plus they have a prize room to redeem your tickets but it was closed.... Sadly it was quiet in there and I think had it been packed it would be more fun and lively. Overall it wasn't perfectly functioning with broken games and long waits for the food, but, we still had fun and we'd come back for bowling.

It's super thin, which I normally don't like, but the crust is crispy yet doughy at the same time. It's perfection, and I love that the dough has flavor. We got the medicine ball pizza with pepperoni and the maple sausage... both were amazing. Packed with a ton of flavor. We got two large pizzas for 4 adults and a toddler it was more than enough food. We also shared two salads, the build your own and seasonable peach salad. The seasonal one was meh, the leaves were dry. Service was great and they have a ton of seating. We didn't have to wait at 6pm on a Friday. Bowling was so fun! This style bowling is not your typical bowling alley. It's tiny balls, which is nice cause your arm doesn't get tired. We had a blast and would definitely come back!
