Dive Winnipesaukee is not an honest business. Dive Winnipesaukee makes it clear they don't care…read moreabout customer service, honouring their word, or customer safety. I've written 327 reviews and only five businesses had the lack of integrity, unprofessionalism, and ineptitude to "earn" a 1 star review. I do not take giving a one star lightly and provide plenty of opportunities for the business to correct a potential misunderstanding with lots of benefit of doubt before it's obvious "Oh, Dive Winnipesaukee doesn't give a crap about us as customers. This is intentional." Keep reading if you want the lengthy details. I'm not even going to get into the fact none of the employees wore a mask, that's almost an amusing "Oh well, diff'rnt folks diff'rnt strokes!" in the face of the entire experience. My husband called TWO DAYS ahead and made a reservation for 6 single kayaks and one double kayak for a group of 8 adults. We confirmed many times these were available for a half day morning, the employee said we could come in any time that morning, we said we'd try to arrive around 9:30am, and we gave our credit card information as well as our phone number. The total came out to around $254. 9:30am on the day of our reservation, as we were literally parking across the street from Dive Winnipesaukee, my husband gets a call from another employee who told us that they only had one single kayak available. We would have to make do with 3 double kayaks and a PADDLEBOARD instead. She said "I'll give you a discount for the miscommunication, I'll charge you the price of a single kayak for the double kayaks." Okay, not ideal to be told this at the last minute possible, especially since we've already put our credit card information down for our reservation. We decide to move past this and have a good time still. One front desk employee immediately tries to charge us for the original $254. I said "No, we are only getting three double kayaks and a paddleboard, plus we were told on the phone we'd be getting a discount because of the error." A woman came by (I think she is either the manager or owner) and said "I called Heath and told him everything." Heath is my husband and he's standing right next to me, he tries to chime in and she cuts him off and say "Let's get you out there and we'll sort this after." We agree and give them the benefit of believing they are an honest business and will sort this out. Their equipment is in bad condition. The three kayaks we got were completely different and in poor condition, it felt like they were purchased at yard sales. They're not sea kayaks, which they should've been because the lake had very strong currents and lots of boats. The worst part is they said they ran out of life vests and gave one of our friends the cheap kind you put on for a ferry (over the head, no straps to secure to body). My friend insisted this was not acceptable because 1. Kayak looked bad 2. The heavy wind and currents. Keep in mind they open at 9am, we showed up at 9:30am with a *reservation*. They didn't have 8 life vests?! After five minutes of my friend insisting, the guy went to look in their storage and found a real life vest. Why did it have to be such an ordeal, customer safety should've been number one and they should have had 8 life vests ready. Dive Winnipesaukee's business motto: Should've, would've, could've, don't give a crap so didn't. My husband went to the bathroom before we set out and the manager/owner/boss came out immediately with the receipt and asked us to pay. So much for waiting until after like she said. The price on the new bill was over $200, she didn't give us the discount that she promised ten minutes ago over the phone. I said "You didn't give us a discount, you said you'd charge us a single kayak price for the double kayaks because the reservation was messed up. You're just charging us full price for everything." She looked me in the eye and said "The original price was $254, it's $200 now. I gave you a $50 discount. Do you want me to charge you $254?" I was stunned, she's suggesting charging me the price for equipment we didn't get? Sure, charge us $254 and give us the equipment we reserved! It looked like she waited for my husband, whom she spoke with, to not be around. I told her that I wanted to wait and she said "I'm going to run the payment, we can discuss this later." Spoiler alert - there was no later! There was no training provided, when we asked them for places that we could kayak to we were given vague instructions of "There is a public beach, but it's closed. So just kayak around that bend, it's private property, but they might let you on." There's only one public beach, when that is closed then you're surrounded by large McMansion private properties and it gets tiring/boring quick. One of our friends also got stuck with the paddleboard on the rough waters. If you use Dive Winnipesaukee, be prepared to be screwed over.

About 3/4 of the way around the island the boat just died. I've been around boats all of my life so I took 45 minutes trying to diagnose the problem. When we couldn't figure it out we called Goodhue knowing it was after hours. We then called several emergency services for them all to go to voicemail. 911 got us tow Sebago after 3 hours to rescue us for a $700 tow. We sat through a thunderstorm, 30 mph winds and an anchor which did not hold the boat. Luckily enough I was able to swim close enough to a mooring and latch on before ending up on the rocks. The next morning I called Goodhue just before they opened and explained what happened. They sent someone out 2 hours later who determined the boat ran out of gas. I watched that gas gauge fall from 100% every single decimal to its final reading of 72.8%. This gave me every indication that the gas gauge was working correctly. I said to my family several times over 2 days that "this boat either has a gigantic gas tank or is extremely efficient". I honestly could not believe that the boat had run out of gas. Goodhue does not want to take responsibility for their faulty equipment causing a very dangerous and life threatening situation. They claim to have explained the gas gauge doesn't work, but a teenager mumbling during a safety briefing that the gas gauge might not work isn't properly notifying a customer of faulty equipment. Expectations of something so vital should be plastered on the dash or handed on a piece of paper to the renter. While this is the second time we have rented from Goodhue, the first time didn't go well either. We had to be rescued the first time after the battery died while we stopped for lunch. We were told that we needed to shut the battery disconnect off overnight, but we did not expect the battery to die with all accessories off in less than 2 hours. I have been boating my entire life. I've spent 1-2 weeks on long lake/Sebago for over 40 years. I also live a couple miles from the ocean. I've owned 4 boats myself and my family owned multiple boats as I was growing up. I've never been stranded outside of renting from Goodhue. I had good experiences renting multiple times each from Long Beach marina and kettle cove marina. Goodhue rents faulty equipment and does not take responsibility for it. I highly recommend going to a reliable marina.

We got there 10minutes early and were informed some guidelines to follow. Got myself a hat since I forgot to bring one was pretty cold. Since it was during offseason we were only ones there. We were escorted to the gear house and equipped with helmet, safety harness and a latch. The staff gave us a ride to the zip line course and took a truck up the hill. They did tell us to make sure to keep helmet on and seatbelt because it was going to be rough ride up due to it being mud season. It sure was a rough ride up and probably was in the air quite a few times during the ride. I looked at one of the staff and used my foot to secure myself like he was doing to keep myself stable which helped. It was definitely the toughest part of the experience. Once we got to the zip line area we were given a brief instructions for safety and we buckled up and started our zip line session. In the beginning it was a bit intimidating but the staffs were all very nice and made us feel safe during the experience. Once we got going it was very enjoyable and thrilling. It was cold but we were mostly prepared and dressed warm and the hat I purchased helped. The views were also beautiful. At the end we got to go in a treehouse and take some picture at the end. After we finished we were escorted back to the truck and took the van to the main facility which was a mild ride compared to on the way. We dropped off our equipments and left the facility. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and had a great time. Everyone was nice and accommodating made us feel safe. It was also nice that we were only ones there because we got a private session and full attention during the experience. Definitely would recommend for those that enjoy or beginner who would like to try zip lining. The car ride is very bumpy, and it for the faint of heart. If you have back problems, this is not the car ride for you~ apparently during the summer, guests have to hike up rather than use the trucks which seems like a moderate level walk in my opinion. We were the only guest since it was spring off season~ plenty of mud but it was great! We prepped with our hiking boots, layers, and hats are a must. Gloves helped our hands stay warm. The staff seem close and look like they enjoy what they do~ really great experience filled with views and good happy adrenaline screams!

This year I was convinced to join another couple families for their yearly trip to On the Saco Campground and I'm glad I did. It's not a huge place, but it's very well kept and VERY clean. No smelly outhouses or grimy bathrooms, both were maybe a little rustic but in good working order and again, very clean. My site was tree lined giving plenty of privacy, nicely mowed and had a fire ring. I don't know if they employ some kind of mosquito management but for a wooded site about 80ft from water, I didn't get one bite over my 3 night stay. There's a little store with pretty much any essential you may have forgotten for sale, small game room, washer/dryer, and dishwashing area. You can rent tubes and canoes, (I did both) and the staff is super friendly and helpful, (especially when we got caught in the rain and they came to pick us up earlier and at a different location than intended). They had some kind of activity everyday, I saw face painting one afternoon by the office, there was a glow stick parade one night, corn-hole tournament the next, and a movie night the third. A lot of Saco campground are shitshows, (I'm talking about you Fiddlehead!) full of wasted college kids, this place IS NOT THAT. If that's what you want, keep moving. However, if you're looking for a clean, friendly place that is definitely family friendly and a more peaceful but still fun experience I'd recommend On the Saco Family Campground for sure.

While their lift tickets can be a bit pricy, hitting them up during the shoulder seasons can help with affordability. I've been here in both early winter and late spring and found the trails to be in good condition! As someone who sticks to the greens with an occasional blue mixed in, their trails offer enough variety to keep me entertained throughout the day. I like having my pick of 4 chairlifts and a gondola to check out different sections of the mountain. On my last visit, there was a very challenging weather day the day before my visit and it was clear the staff were hard at work overnight to groom the trails. Throughout the day, they were actively working to open additional trails (at which they were very successful) as well as firing the snow machines to get other parts of the mountain open as soon as possible. The lower lodge is straightforward, offering plenty of seating to change into your ski boots and eat a meal. The food is pricy but we always try to make sure we have options out in the car to manage our costs throughout the day. That isn't unique to this ski resort of course though. The upper lodge at the top of the gondola is nice as well. Unlike the lower lodge, their bathrooms are on the same level as the entrance so no having to manage stairs in clunky boots.
