I had the WORST experience of my life at this physician's office yesterday in Wilson, NC! I had a colonoscopy scheduled for that morning. I had received a text message that morning, stating I needed to pay $400. I called the main office in Raleigh and was advised by two employees that I did NOT need to pay that money and to go on in and get the procedure done. Now everyone knows what goes into getting a colonoscopy! No eating for 2 days. That godawful drink. But I DID IT! Imagine my surprise when I get there and those rude nurses (more like CNAs) acted like freaking gatekeepers and REFUSED me service because THEY couldn't reach anyone in Raleigh and I need to pay that money in order to be seen. They continuously stated "ever since this merger they don't tell us ANYTHING, so we're going to have to call someone before you can come back." We constantly asked if we could be billed and they refuse to even answer us. Needless to say, since they couldn't reach the Raleigh office this patient who'd gone through DAYS of hunger doing this prep that I wouldn'tbe seen because they couldn't reach anyone. When the doctor called me later on that afternoon and asked me, what happened? I'm sure they'd already lied to him. So to recap, I went through hell doing that prep. We both took off work. We had to drive to and from Wilson. And we were treated like crap the entire time. read more

I was a patient of Wake Endoscopy, as I understand is owned by Raleigh Medical Group. of which I was a patient for 2 years. I recently left Raleigh Medical Group, for what I consider is awful attitudes by theier receptionists, and after hours receptionists. They are rude. Upon leaving, my action was then validated by a nasty letter I recieved from Wake Endoscopy, about, because I am leaving RMG, they will CHARGE me to make copies of my medical records. What a disgrace, it validates why I left RMG! Charge me to make copies, after makung $100's, $1000's off my participation in RMG. Unbelieveable!!! I went to Wake Endoscopy on 6-24-24. They charged a co pay of $1,700.00. I have Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I was not in a position to argue having been up all night prepping. This place is terrible. Poor communication being their standard. Went in for a colonoscopy and they didn't call in my prescriptions so after waiting in there for over an hour, had to reschedule. Reschedule took forever and this time went without a hitch. Nurses were nice but all other aspects of the visit were poor. Front office lady was on the phone chatting with her friends rather loudly and could have told me about my reschedule without having me sit there for an hour and a half. My wife will need a colnoscopy soon and after my experience here we will find a new place to go in the future. They have repeatedly NOT got my patient portal right and so here I sit 2 months later without the results of my colonoscopy. read more

While I'm not certain the practice itself is horrible, they're not very smart by allowing a doctor like Christopher Schwartz to be practicing there. My ninety-one-year-old mother had a bleeding ulcer that was repaired in the middle of September. The rescue squad had taken her and it was an emergency. Everything worked out and the ulcer was repaired. In two months, she was to have an EGD, endoscopy to look at the ulcer repair. My mother and I made numerous calls to schedule the appointment, documenting each call after several had been ignored. I wanted to take my mother to a closer hospital to have the procedure done but they could not schedule it for that hospital. By this time it was in December and it needed to be done. Their first appointment was in the middle of January at a hospital an hour away. The doctor's office would not fax an order to the hospital of my choice. This whole thing has been a nightmare, constant calling, explaining, and trying to get an appointment. At this time I have decided to get our PCP to fax the hospital of our choice and to have another doctor. I wish I had read the reviews earlier. They definitely believe in leaving messages and not returning calls. If they cannot care for such simple matters, how can they be responsible for someone's care? My mother has been in five hospitals in less than a year and this was altogether a horrendous experience. read more

Recently I had a colonoscopy. Dr. Chris Schwartz was my Doctor. The staff was kind and attentive. Evidently there was a problem with a client before me which created a longer wait and anxiety for me; however after getting home and processing it all I recognized " stuff happens". I just had my third colonoscopy at Wake Endoscopy Center, and each time has been one of the best medical experiences I have ever had. From check in to check out, each staff member has been exceptionally friendly and professional. Dr. Kerry Whitt who has performed all of my procedures is very informative with a great bedside manner. I especially like the 2 page report detailing the procedure and what was found. I was given this report at discharge, and it was very helpful since I was not that alert when Dr. Whitt came in after the procedure. Aside from the medical process, one member of the staff, Kim, came to our rescue after my pre-op meeting. My husband had waited in his car listening to podcasts and ran his car battery down. The car would not start. Kim was coming out after work and asked if we needed help. She said she had jumper cables and got our car running. That was so above and beyond!!! I see from some comments that people were upset because of delays. They need to understand that colonoscopies can run longer than planned based upon what is found during the procedure. read more

I have not personally had an appointment here but I have come with family member several times. It looks very clean here and has a pleasant feel to the waiting room. My family member has said nothing but good things about the staff at the front counter and their doctor. I have met Dr. J before and after a few procedures and he is genuinely concerned about his patients and only wants the best decisions made for them. Yes I know all doctors are supposed to be that way but we all know it's not the case. Some doctors just come in and have a matter of fact attitude about everything and just make decisions. That's what second opinions are for. Dr. J is a great doctor who cares and I would recommend him to anyone in need of doctor specializing in endoscopy. read more

If you are looking for a medical facility that will return your calls, provide you proactive care, answer the telephone when you call or provide any type of compassionate healthcare services, this is NOT the place to go. There was absolutely no communication after my procedure. The only staff who will take your call is the receptionist who routes you immediately to a nurse. The nurses never answer the telephone. You leave a message and it's never returned. I spent 2 whole days trying to get in touch with anyone beyond the receptionist and failed. And, I'm in the healthcare field and understand the process. There are other facilities that provide endoscopy and colonoscopy services. I would highly suggest that you choose them over Wake Endoscopy. Furthermore, when a medical doctor (Dr. Battaglino) laughs in your face and refuses to hear the feedback that you have concerning issues, then that speaks volumes for the entire facility. Extremely unprofessional behavior to say the least. Wake Endoscopy treats patients like widgets. They have a process that drives down costs at the expense of a high level of care. Be forewarned. I was admitted to Cary WakeMed with a possible GI bleed 9/19/18 and had a colonoscopy as an in-patient. It was preformed by Dr. Hutzenbuhler. I awoke in the recovery room in excruciating pain. The pain was up under my left rib cage and up into my left shoulder. I have had 3 colonoscopies and four laparoscopic procedures and never awoke to pain like this. At first I was unable to communicate well and just responded with monosyllabic answers. I felt breathless and I was panting with the pain. I remember I was rocking on my side while holding my rib cage. I remember repeating "Oh my God. Oh My God" And at one point I uttered the "F" word. Dr. Hutzenbuhler was there at that point and reprimanded me by leaning over the bed to tell me, "Fart is the only 'F' word I want to hear back here." I was extremely embarrassed. I think it was at that point that she order fentanyl be administered. I was in a tremendous amount of pain and embarrassed at being reprimanded for the use of an expletive. The fentanyl did nothing and I was told to roll on my stomach and get on my knees with my buttocks in the air. A tube was inserted as they assumed it was a gas pocket that could be alleviated by tapping into it with the tube. I was in so much pain I didn't care if I was covered or if the curtain was open. It didn't give me any relief and more fentanyl was ordered. It was then that Dr. Hutzenbuhler took the time to come to my bedside and say "By the way, I'm going to have nightmares about that corn!" I don't know if she said that to humiliate me or make her associates laugh. Either way it was completely unprofessional and humiliating. Dr. Hutzenbuhler even went so far as to include a picture of a piece of corn in the films I received with my discharge papers. The fentanyl barely took the edge off and I arrived back to my room 3 hours after I was taken back for the procedure. When I got to my room my family members quickly took my personal blanket off my bed and asked my nurse for a plastic bag for the blanket because it was wet and covered in filth. I was kept over night and remained in pain. I was told to walk as it was the best way to get rid of the gas pocket that they assumed the pain was originating from. It did not help. I was released on Saturday when the Hospitalist came in to discharge me. The pain persisted all weekend. I went to see my PCP on Monday and she ordered a chest X-ray and an abdominal ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed a 4 cm wedge-shaped hypoechoic area in my anterior spleen. It was most definitely NOT there during the ER visit on the previous Wednesday as it was not evident on the abdominal CAT performed. I'm still experiencing pain and discomfort, and it will take some time to heal. From what I understand, although spleen injury is a rare complication from a colonoscopy, it is not unheard of, and the obvious indications of a spleen injury is pain under the left rib cage and pain in the left shoulder. I feel strongly that this should have been evaluated and addressed while I was an inpatient as it can be a dangerous complication. Family members have suggested I seek a legal consultation. read more

The office is poorly run; they will schedule you for an invasive procedure without granting you a consultation with the doctor first; and the actual experience of the procedure (including the prep and the recovery) will be brutal. They will, of course, tell you that it's for your health, and that you don't know what horrible things might have happened if you didn't submit to their probing procedures and toxic pharmaceutical products. And then when you're done, they'll tell you that you need to come back and do it all over again in three years or seven years or maybe 10 years if you're lucky. Much like Raleigh Medical Group (their partners in crime), Wake Endoscopy Center is a symptom of deeper issues within Western medicine. They are probably no worse than the average clinic of this type, but that doesn't mean that they're doing a good job or that they care about their patients or anything else except the bottom line ($$$). read more

Well, coming here is an unpleasant experience, but only because of why you're here. Outside of the lady at the front desk everyone was very nice and pleasant. They make a tough experience as pleasant as possible. I was surprised by how quickly the procedure is. The anesthesia does a remarkable job. I'm surprised more places don't use a similar anesthesia. You're out in less than 30 seconds and it wears of quickly. read more

I had surgery yesterday and my wife was with me. I do not remember anything after the surgery because I was under sedation. I received a call this morning from their office about how the surgery went. I wanted the results and was told I received discharge instructions. I don't remember and wanted them to tell me. The lady told me a thousand times my wife should have gotten the discharge instructions. I told her my wife didn't say anything to me about it and was unavailable until this evening. The lady said she could look the instructions up later but went on and on about getting in touch with my wife. I had to explain to her in detail that my wife works with kids and has to monitor those kids and is not allowed to leave to accept phone calls. The whole thing was the lady was too lazy to look up the records and call me back. Some people get paid and want to do as little as possible even on the clock. read more

We arrived early for the colonoscopy and filled out the quick paperwork with no difficulties. The front desk staff were helpful and kind. When called back to begin preparations, we were again treated with excellent help, and caring staff. We had to wait a little bit, as they had gotten a little behind, but they kept us informed every step of the way. The IV, the procedure of the colonoscopy, all went very well and were done with excellence. When finished my wife and I rejoined in the recovery area, where we were taken care of by an excellent nurse, who monitored everything, had a gracious spirit, removed all the lines with ease and gentleness and explained all the post procedure instructions clearly. We were both impressed by the care I had here and would recommend this office to anyone in need of a colonoscopy or endoscopy. While these tests can be difficult, we felt that this staff made everything as easy as possible. Great nurses, great doctors, great office staff.. 100% impressed! read more

Their communication is horrible! I don't under why you need to arrive an hour early to complete 15 mins of paperwork. Second issue I arrived at 7:45am checked in waited until 9:05am to ask the lady with the short hair cut and curls what was the hold up and she says the doctor is an hour behind. My issue is you've been talking on the phone gossiping the entire hour I've waited, could you not communicate with me that my doctor was running behind so I could make the decision to stay or leave. Very disappointed and disgusted. The office manager is out today and Monday so I guess you decided to do as you please but I will be contacting her in Tuesday as well as provide pics and videos! 6-9-17 Dr Jagnoff or however you say his name is more than an hour off! After getting little sleep in order to awake at 3am to prep for an appointment, I had to arrive at the office at 7am for an 8am for a colonoscopy.. I was told that this hour is usually utilized to prepare for the procedure, but this process was not started today until nearly 8am. Furthermore, I was told that the doctor who I was to see had not even arrived at the office by 10 minutes of eight. The technician who inserted the I.V. into my right hand (a rather unpleasant procedure, at best) had to try a second time in my left hand because he made an error with the insertion in my right hand, thus adding more discomfort to an already bad morning. read more

I am writing this for my husband and his experience at Wake Endoscopy this week. The check-in was easy, the nurse called him back fairly quickly, the procedure was fast and comprehensive, and the care afterward was professional. We were there at 8:00am and out by 10:30. When I had my last colonoscopy, at a different Doctor's group, I woke up mid-way the procedure and was watching everything on the tv screen. With my husband, not so much. He didn't care how much extra it might cost, he didn't want to know he was in the world. This group of doctors fulfilled his request as he didn't remember anything about it. Just talking to the nurse and waking up in recovery. It doesn't get any better than that. The worse part of this was the prep the day before but, as everyone knows, you have to be clean as a whistle.
