This is one of the smaller versions of the M&S 'Simply Food' store, a few minutes' walk from the…read moremain exit of Earl's Court underground station, with long opening hours. The range here is a bit limited, especially on straightforward basics, so you couldn't substitute it for your normal food shopping, unless you live on M&S ready meals. (And it would be ruinously expensive to try.) But they do have a reasonable fruit and veg section, and a huge selection of said ready-meals. In addition, they always have lots of tempting chocolates and cakes alongside the single queue to the checkouts, so clearly the marketing folk have been doing their stuff. It's a great place to watch the 'pester power' of the offspring of Chelsea and Kensington in action. For me, it's good for the odd treat for special occasions, emergency shopping, and their reliable wine selection. And entertainment, as Araminta delivers that flawlessly executed tantrum in a bid for a white chocolate rabbit...

It is pricey though. You have a decent selection of veggies, meats, ready to eat meals, breads, frozen, dairy, cheeses selections. It is a bit hard to distinguish different aisle form one another but at the end you find what you are looking for. They key here is you can go in and out very fast with the their automatic cashier system, and somewhat small store footprint. I go there for quick errands at the end of the day.

I'm not quite sure how to review this place. "3.5 stars" feels like the rating I want but since…read morethat's not an option, I'll bump it up to 4 stars. The location to surrounding area is amazing. The family and I were vacationing in South Kensington and this store was ideally located. It's a grocery store that has all the essentials... and more. And by "more", I mean seemingly random stuff like an aisle of non-branded shirts... and a convenience station which apparently provides shoe repair? Item selection for things (particularly vegetables and fruits) seems a little sparse. But admittedly I'm a tourist so perhaps that's expected for the area, climate, and time of year. Checkout is slightly disorganized (again, probably a "tourist ignorance" thing). Recyclable bags are available for pickup on a rail while walking through self-checkout. There's an automated gate that requires a receipt barcode to be scanned before exit is permitted. Ultimately I think this is a store that's 90% grocery store and 10% variety store. Nothing wrong with that but it was just a little surprising.

It was interesting visiting an English grocery store. First of all this particular store was…read moresmaller than the ones in the United States. Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

This Tesco is a disgrace, and after 25 years of going there, I've had enough. One star because no…read moreoption for zero stars. Sainsburys a bit further along Cromwell Road will now be getting my custom. Firstly, for a large London store, it is complete crap. The large stores outside of London put it to shame. Stock is rubbish, and it really has nothing more than food. It is appalling. Don't ever do self scan on any type of large shop, they now scan ALL your shopping again when you get to scan out, because they don't trust anyone. Where before there was a designated checkout for people who self-scanned, they have now lumped it together with usual shopping, so where you can scan out, you now have all the muppets checking out huge trolleys-ful of shopping, and you have to wait ages. Pathetic, and completely useless for the organised people amongst us, who do self-scan for speed. Go to the manned checkouts and get them to do it, since that's their job, and you don't get humiliated and assumed to be a thief, either. As for the car park outside, yes, I know there is building work, BUT that does not excuse what is happening on the first floor car park, where you're lucky if you find a space because of the car wash, electric vehicle chargers, and chauffeur cars who hang out there all day reading the newspaper and drinking coffee. But what tipped me over the edge today, is the amount of homeless lying around, chucking rubbish everywhere, and as I saw this morning, defecating in the car park spaces. Absolutely disgusting. If Tesco think we are putting up with that, they are sorely mistaken. I suggest you take control of your car park, have security guards patrolling, throw out the undesirables, and clean the place up. It is a cesspit, and for a store associated with food, it is disgusting I shall be making sure this review is well-publicised, and will be writing to the council about the state of the place, and that you, Tesco are operating a car park where you allow homeless people to hang around and defecate on the premises, where people are supposed to walk, and park their cars. Your head office is also going to get to hear about this. Possibly TikTok and other social media too. If you think this is what your customers should put up with, you can stuff it, I'm sticking with my favoured stores, Waitrose, Sainsburys and M&S Look forward to your soon to be, fame, and hopefully visits from the council regarding health, safety, public health and hygiene. The fact that you don't respond to negative reviews tells me exactly what I thought, that Tesco are only interested in profits, not customer experience, ambience and cleanliness. If I can I will try and get you visited by environmental health, and closed down because the car park alone, is grounds for me to advise everyone to avoid the CROMWELL ROAD TESCO SUPERSTORE like the plague, because it is so unhygienic you probably will get some sort of plague! Bye. UPDATE: which doesn't help your position, it actually makes it worse. Having seen other reviews who also talk about piles of human excrement in the car park, near the entrance, and the smell wafting into the store where the fresh produce is, some with photo evidence. I am definitely reporting you to the council, environmental health, and any other bodies who will hopefully come down on you like a tonne of bricks, and if we are really lucky, close you down. Suggest you sort this situation out pronto, as I am determined to make an example of you. DISGRACE!

I frankly haven't changed much over the years. I stayed in South Kensington. I loved it. Across from Gloucester Road tube station was this Waitrose. It had everything that I needed. I tend to get lemons and make lemon tea in the morning. Waitrose had lemons, so I got three that lasted my entire stay. The baked goods section is excellent. I got croissants here. They were flaky, buttery, and yummy. I got some peanut brittle, too. It was so good. Butter tends to make anything taste better. I remember seeing self-checkouts here. I ended up wanting a human. He was great. I paid with a credit card. It worked perfectly. I'm so glad that this Waitrose still exists. It was a good grocery store that had everything I needed while I was here for a week. (38)

Imagine a product experience so horrible that a supervisor has to come over and swipe their card every fifteen seconds. Don't support this madness. Go to another store
