About four days after being seen with a scheduled follow up -2Rivers sent us a letter refusing to see my daughter again. If 2Rivers retaliation is the result of my desire to protect my daughter when the adult blonde-haired woman with glasses, not the Dentist, threatened my 8 year old to 'behave or else we'll put you in another room' -confirms that 2Rivers staff is indeed correct- my values differ greatly with them.  I didn't have a choice going there given our insurance and the only two Pediatric Dentistry's around here- but now my husband has better job and better insurance and they wont get a dime of it. But this review. Everyone reading this-  My daughter was having a panic/anxiety attack and the staff didn't even bother telling me any of this when everything was said and done. This is why every parent needs to be with their child during each visit until their child is comfortable with complete strangers poking around their mouth, strange large machines making sounds kiddos are unfamiliar with and God complex staff.  And yes, for the trolls out there, my children have seen a dentist. More than I have in a decade.

HORRIBLE! I cannot even begin to describe the horrible…read moreservice we received from Dr. Joel Peterson and his staff. His office is super fun with lots of games for the kids to play, but that is only masking the deplorable nature of himself and his staff. We've been there twice. This latest visit we were met by a very nice lady at reception, but once we were in back we got only glares from a young lady with brown hair and browns eyes. My kids are 3 and 5, they are great little patients, no screaming - they do as they are told by the hygenist and doctor - excellent, yet this lady was still stunningly rude to us. Rude to my children! My 3yo asked what she was doing when she was beginning to apply flouride, and instead of taking time to explain, she said "just open your mouth" - not even a please!!? Then the doctor came in and told me that our 5yo would need to go to the hospital, be sedated, undergo massive mouth surgery and have two back teeth capped. Wow! I was shocked. When I asked questions in an effort to better understand the situation he only replied fast and in dentist terms. When I asked for his answers to be put in laymen terms, he stared at me blankly and repeated the same answers. Never a smile. Never a word of empathy to a mom who has just been given this news. Where is the human decency?? So I asked to have our x-rays to have a second opinion and that is when things really lit up. Evidently he was mad I took away a payday for him. I emailed requesting the x-rays. The reply email from "Kim" told me I had to pay a $20 fee and sign a release. I signed the release and emailed it back stating exactly "Here is the release form. There was no mention of a fee over the phone but I can pay it. Can you send me all of the appropriate billing information please?" My email went unanswered. So I sent another email stating "Hello! I just wanted to make sure you received this request." Again, several days went by with out an answer. So I called the office at 1:42 in the afternoon and got their office voicemail and left a message asking someone to call me. The doctor called me 30 minutes later and quite frankly it was the most shocking call I have ever had in my life. I asked him to explain the $20 charge for the x-ray and he went off on me saying "I know about the exchange of emails between you and Kim (his wife. Presumably the glaring brunette in the office??) Um, what? Emails...plural?? I had sent three emails (which includes my initial request and the two I shared above), she sent me one telling me about the fee. There was no back and forth or strange conspiracy or deception as he kept eluding to - honestly I wish I had recorded our phone conversation. Craziest call EVER. He told me I was trying to get out of paying $20 - when I had my debit card in hand right there on the phone. When I told him that, he still insisted I was trying to get out of paying. Finally, around the 3rd time of my telling him I was waiting to pay - he tells me he cannot take care of it, his wife Kim needs to take care of it and I should call back when she is in. I asked if she could call when she is in, since she will know when she is back in the office and I would have no idea when she would be back. He insisted she could not call me and I had to call back. He then went on to tell me how the answering service may pick up, he wasn't sure if that was on or not, because they are extremely busy with the high schools being out for Spring break. I explained how I was having an outpatient procedure and would be out of pocket until Monday - but since we had been working on this for about two weeks I was hoping we could get this done today (Wednesday). I again was told to just call, and not only call, I was told to call back til I got someone. What?!? Who says that?!? I never post reviews on Yelp, Google or anywhere online but this guy and his team were so RUDE, inept and downright crazy that I really have to let everyone know. They have no compassion for their patients. Very sad.

Imagine. It's Friday…read moreand you just slammed your work computer shut for the day. You're basking in pre-weekend bliss, about to enjoy a half hour of peace before picking up your kiddos and starting a jam packed Mother's Day weekend. You then receive a call from your kiddos' elementary school. DUN DUN DUNNNNNN. It's the school nurse. Your seven year old was running in PE class, was tripped by a classmate and gracefully broke his fall with his two front teeth. You're told to both call a dentist immediately and come get him. Well that went 0 to 100 REAL quick. You then contact your family dentist (not The Children's Dental Center) and they get him in within the hour. The next half hour involves bribes, restraints, screaming, kicking, hitting and tears. It is traumatizing for all involved, but especially the kiddo missing literally half of both of his front teeth. Nope-- that is not going to work-- a pediatric dentist is needed. We left with a list of referrals with a kiddo still sans front teeth. I called Dr Jenn on a Friday (they're closed) and left a desperate message on both the office's line and her emergency line. She got back to within 15 minutes saying since I was not a current patient she could not help immediately but gave me a plan of action in the mean time. I really appreciated that, even if I couldn't get in feeling heard eased my mind. Fast forward to Monday and her office called me by 8AM and had set up an appointment for 3:30PM that day. (I couldn't get into any other pediatric dentist that day-- or that week in some cases.) I didn't even know that dentist office lived there, just off 965 on Oakdale. What a nice location! We arrived and instantly were impressed the whimsical decor of the waiting room. The staff is INSANELY cheerful, knowledgeable and kind. We waiting a whopping five minutes and were taken to the room. Luke was so happy to find Bluey playing on the ceiling TV. Laughing gas was used (it smelled like oranges). Dr. Jenn was patient and really eased Luke's mind. We all left SO MUCH LESS TRAUMATIZED and, most importantly, with our teeth intact. Huzzah. (They were even able to use the broken off pieces for repair? Mind blowing.) Additionally, kids leave with a token to use for a prize machine. What a nice touch! They truly have thought of everything at The Children's Dental Center. I have to note: as you can imagine, something like rebuilding a majority of two front teeth isn't cheap. And while we have insurance, it is nice to be in the know prior to the procedure what exactly is being sent to Delta Dental. I did really appreciate being shown the charges before so there were no surprises. Thank you for that. I have a nine year old and a seven year old-- we have never used a pediatric dentist until now. I feel like we would have had SO much better experiences had we. The infinite patience shown by every staff member was mind blowing and the tricks they can pull of out their sleeves are endless compared to the average family dentist. I without a doubt recommend Dr Jenn and her team at The Children's Dental Center and Luke will continue going there until he can't!
