The campus is beautiful, the faculty and staff are warm and happy to be there, and the students are overwhelmingly kind. Students study a language from K-12 as part of the curriculum and are immersed in hands-on, experiential learning for throughout the day. Le Jardin is an International Baccalaureate World School that offers not only the IB Diploma Program but also the IB Primary Years Programme and the IB Middle Years Programme for its primary and middle schools. We moved our children here from Mid-Pacific Institute (one of the WORST private schools on the island) and the difference is night and day (they even have 18 more in-school days in a school year!)

The views are incredible. The staff are great. Helpful and interested in the children's best interest ( as it should be ) and are always available to engage with the parents on their children's education. Although expensive, it's well below Punahou, 'Iolani, and Mid Pac. They do offer financial aid options, yet make sure you apply early because it can take some time to get through the process. Le Jardin does offer athletics as well as a quality education. As a matter of fact, the girl's just won the ILH water polo championship, and the boy's won last year. Le Jardin competes in Water Polo, paddling, swimming, volleyball, basketball, tennis, kayaking and golf. They also compete in the PAC-5 in football, softball, wrestling, baseball and cross country. The gym is fantastic, a tad bit cramped, but very nice indeed. I'm proud to say that my girls will be attending Le Jardin the fall of 2013

BINGO Fundraiser in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii…read more.. My friend's daughter's volleyball team held their fundraiser at the cafeteria of this local public elementary school. Parking was free. I'm glad that we arrived early and parked close to the entrance of the cafeteria (where the ground was level) before 4pm. After 8pm, when our session ended, the parking lot towards the back of the building had no lighting, the road was uphill, and was spooky in general. The "Girls" restroom had just one stall... and no seat covers for the toilet. At least there was soap and paper towels! Inside the spacious, well-lit, clean room, there were ceiling fans, short, round tables with stools attached to them, long tables for vendors to sell crafts and snacks, more tables for prizes and reception area, and good lighting. There was a nice cross-breeze, so no air-conditioning was needed, and the doors were left open. Overall, this was a great venue for a function like this! There was a screen for a projection and an excellent sound system. Maybe one of the parents brought their own equipment?

The school disciplines with aloha and lays no ground rules. Bullying is a major problem. Kids are constantly being harassed and threatened and nothing happens to the bullies. Fights happen and the involved do not get suspended or even have recess taken away. All merit and award assemblies were removed and never brought back. The good kids have nothing to work for. The teachers at the counselors at this school are phenomenal and excellent. Wonderful educators. The main problem is the principal and the lack of discipline at the school.

Orchid Show in Kāne'ohe, O'ahu, Hawaii…read more.. The Windward Orchid Society hasn't had its annual Orchid Show for the past four years. Maybe that's why my friend wanted to go this year!?!? We heard about this Orchid Show from one of the gals (Sherrie) in our mahjong group. Sherrie works at King Intermediate School and told us that the fragrance of the honohono orchids was so wonderful! We made plans to attend on Saturday, 3-18-23, which was the second day of the three-day event. Located on the makai (ocean) side of Kamehameha Highway, King Intermediate School has a view of Kaneohe Bay! The campus is very spacious with many outdoor basketball courts! The buildings have wonderful murals with Hawaiian themes! The gigantic trees, huge lawns, and decorative foliage really make the campus unique! We parked for free near the entrance and followed signs to the cafeteria. It wasn't air conditioned, so, I stood under the ceiling fans to keep cool. Maybe the orchids like the warm, humid environment? They are so beautiful! If you come to King Intermediate School for the Orchid Show, bring some money in case you want to be a member of the Windward Orchid Society. They also had various plants for sale (anthuriums, snake plants, bromeliads, air plants, etc.) and a Country Store with shirts, vases, books, and more! Come take a look!

The best part of it is that our kids come home raving about Jesus!!! I guess it's not for everyone, but that's why it's a private school and not everyone will be a good fit. Academics are awesome. Our kindergartners are now writing in cursive and reading at the 2nd/3rd grade level . Our 2nd grader has been reading chapter books since 1st grade and already multiplying. Granted we as parents have put in some time helping them with their homework, but that's part of being parents. To set them up for success. If you want a school that will teach your child to love Jesus and others as well as get ahead in academics, this is where you want your child to be. They do push Christian values and we love how our kids are saying our meal prayers since they were 3 yrs. old. Their love for God, Jesus and others is awesome... If you don't want your child to have a really strong Christian base, then maybe this school isn't for your child. Cost is extremely reasonable compared to other private schools. Plus where else can you drop off at 7am and pick up at 5:45 pm with lunch and snacks included in tuition? The staff is very caring especially in preschool... There are two teachers per classroom up to third grade (which) is when kids start to migrate to other private schools... We haven't had a teacher that we didn't get along with. Couldn't have asked for a better place for my keiki...

As a fellow alumni, I remember loving the school from its dedicated teachers and faculty to academic excellence. I have the best memories growing up while attending St. John Vianney School Kailua and am thrilled my two children have the opportunity as well. This is still the best pre-school and elementary school in Kailua with an extraordinary principal, Mrs. DeMello, and exceptional Admin Assistant, Mrs. Chee, with their dedication and commitment to excellence. My children started attending here since pre-school at three years old and are currently in kindergarten and second grade. I have seen their confidence and love for learning flourish. Their progress and growth have been remarkable. Not only does St. John Vianney School Kailua have top-notch academics, values-based education, but they also instill a premier Catholic education that is of importance to my faith and family values. Furthermore, they have phenomenal support from the church and community and host an annual fundraising event called "Breakfast with the Bishop" that everyone looks forward to each year. They offer scholarships and financial aid as well as extracurricular activities. I highly recommend St. John Vianney School Kailua for your child's education as it is an invaluable investment. You will feel welcomed and supported here. We are SJV Kailua 'Ohana!

Mrs Maeda and Mrs. Burger was the best because they didn't tolerate bullying and did the best to make sure my child got home safely. If your kid is local, and I mean born and raised here amongst other local families.. they will not like it. Military kids, rich bratty kids. My kid was one of five local kids in the whole school that was local with with black hair. The graduation ceremony needs improvement. They have the parents sit on the side while the whole school sits in front of the ceremony. Is this graduation for kindergarteners through 5th graders or is it for the 6th graders and their families?! My son was physically abused by a teacher's aid ( pulled by his ear across the room ) and it was witnessed by a student. She also hid my students pencil box which was later found by another student in the aide's desk. It was reported and "investigated" but it was the end of the school year. We got a letter a year later reading that the investigation was done but no results listed and she's was still working there the year after. She's normally an aide for a special needs children but was used as an aide for my son's class (not special needs). I hate to think what she does to special needs children who can't speak up for themselves. I didn't take it further since my child has already graduated and moved on to a different school but would have handed out flyers to parents warning them of this aide. I know this issue should be a rating should be for the Windward complex but feel that it should be noted here. COVID was hard on everyone including teachers but my son's teacher "didn't know how to use computers" so it was extra hard on parents. A+ leaders were good and attentive. It was great having the Kailua carnival there but it never returned. And I know this goes for most parents but the school really needs to send some paperwork to parents teaching them how to do common core math so we can help our children with their homework instead of just saying "let them work through it and if they're confused they can ask their teacher for help" Office workers are ok but health aide ms k. Need to be kinder to students especially during A+ 2 stars because it was a mixed bag with some really bad experiences.
