    Waterfall from stone dam
    Christy S.

This was a very enjoyable hike. The trail is almost entirely flat, so it is easy for everyone to go on. There is a fork in the trail at one point where you can go to the enchanted forest or take a shortcut. We went through the forest part on the way in and took the shortcut on the way out. It seemed like the shortcut saved a lot of time. We did get some bug bites, so bug spray is advised. The trail is about two miles in and two miles back. It was quite muddy the day we went, so if it has been raining, make sure to wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. At the end of the trail is a gorgeous, lush area with a river, a dam, and a waterfall. It is really worth the trip!

Top of Dam place to swim and use rope to swing in.

Great trail for families. Took my 2, 6, and 16 years daughters all had a great time! Pretty easy a lil muddy but overall great scenery and lush forest. Could take a dip in cool waters at dam, so take swimming clothes. FYI no lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk.

This place is simply amazing! A tranquil piece of paradise in the middle of a dense Mahogany forest. The beauty of this place is the unsurpassed and the trek to the stone wall will take your breath away. We've been coming here since 2009 and it's a must see every time we visit Kauai.

The Wai Koa Loop Trail takes you on a not very difficult walk through meadows and forests. Where most of the hiking trails close to Princeville are slick, muddy, and frequently closed, this one features a playground, and mini-golf course with garden lessons on each hole :-) The trail is set entirely inside a public park where you'll also find a coffee shop, a Mexican food truck, and a gift shop. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours!

This private-owned plantation with groves of Mahogany trees and beautiful landscape is a trail fit for the entire family. The loop is 4.5 miles which is quite muddy but flat all throughout. Although there is a hose you can use to wash off the dirt from your shoes just outside the souvenir shop afterwards, I still wouldn't recommend light-colored shoes on this walk. Wear mosquito repellent as there are a lot of foliage and while many parts are shaded, there are also areas without any - sunscreen would be a must. Such a shame the dam with the waterfalls was closed due to the flooding in April last year but overall, there were many beautiful scenery to be enjoyed that made for nice photo ops. We even spotted several horses on the grounds. If anything, I wish we packed a lunch and brought a blanket for a picnic when we went. It's the perfect backdrop for one. Bonus was the farmers' market at the parking lot. We were able to get some papayas and rambutans that were freshly picked just the day before. Come in the morning so you don't miss this.

Easy kid friendly hike. Took our 14month old. Did bring a carrier because she got a bit tired but pretty easy hike. We took the "short cut route" they have an enchanted forest route but we decided to opt out just in case it was too long for the baby. The shortcut route was probably 2 miles. You need to park at north shore dog park to access the trail

Perfect hiking trail for anyone looking for a quick workout. Some areas are steep but the trail itself is pretty easy. There is a rope for those of you who need help pull you up or climb back down. Love it!

Yelp 100 Challenge 86 What a great hike! We signed our waivers at the mini golf and make a quick stop in their clean restrooms before setting out on our morning adventure. The man at the mini golf was so helpful, too. The hike took little over 2.5 hours. Such care is taken to the hiking area and surrounding land. It's private and we appreciated the ability to enjoy the property, too. I've never seen mahogany trees growing, let alone an entire forest of mahogany trees! Simply beautiful! There was also a lovely pond filled with blooming lily pads. The fragrance of wild ginger filled the air as we approached the old dam and gardens. This was truly the payoff of the entire hike. It looked like a postcard. Water spilled over an old rock dam cascading into the stream below. The grass was verdant green and tropical plants bloomed everywhere. On the hike we also saw horses, coconut and banana trees. Consider going early in the day as it does get hot. Part of the hike is shaded, however, you'll need a hat. On our way back we noticed the miniature golf place rents bicycles. Next time, I think I'd like to ride the trail, especially in the summer sun. For those with young children or otherwise unable to do the whole loop there is a second entrance which provides easier access to the dam area. Highly recommend.

This photo makes the path look nicer than it is.

So bummed that we spent a couple of hours on this trail. I wanted an easier trail since we were had big hikes planned for the next day in Waimea, so it checked that box. But with the dam/falls portion closed (April 2019) the loop was terribly boring. Just a slog. Seriously, you're on Kauai, with so many beautiful places to go and things to see. Good for kids only in that it's flat; they'll be bored, too... I wished we'd spent the time doing literally any other walk or hike or even napping at the hotel. Only made it 2 stars instead of 1 star as there is a cute gift store that could be interesting to some.

Thank you to the owner of Wai Koa plantation for allowing visitors to hike this easy 4.5 mile trail on a bucolic working farm. If you love walking, and I do, this trail is a gem.

Once upon a time, I journeyed far and wide to the mystical falls of ever lasting happiness. While on my journey I was struck by the goddess of rain, I walked through enchanted forests with centaurs & fairies, and came across the sacred fountain of youth. Praying to Buddha with the forest of bamboo as his protection, my loins were on fire with fertility. As I swung on the swing I was teleported into a whimsical world of enchanted beings, with the unicorn as my stead, we explored the waters of desire, in that moment I knew a magical seed was sprouting inside of me and the only way to experience this is to go on this journey. You're welcome.

This is an amazing place for a trail hike through a botanical garden , in paradise! Not to mention a neighboring horse sanctuary. In the middle of it. If i lived here i would probably be here once a week. I had an amazing experience it was spiritual and unexpected. Then after a great hike to get to come back to a delicious shaved ice ...my flavors were P.O.G n tangerine dream, both amazing and perfectly poured i must say. And mini golf if you wanted, a taco stand and a boutique! Everything but the kitchen sink! Bottom line love this place , i think you would too

Highly recommend taking this sweet walk! It will take as long as a 4.5 mile walk generally takes, but allow time to really savor the local beauty. It's a gentle path, mostly flat until you get to the Stone Dam. There are plaques along the way explaining the history, fauna, and views. The Stone Dam and gardens were a delightful surprise with Buddha strategically seated emanating peace toward all who pass by. So tranquil with the stream, bamboo, giant trees and remnants of times gone by. It's a perfect setting for a quiet picnic in the grass. It's not a party-place but a sweet cradle for contemplation and nurturing your soul. There's a pond above the falls and you may find a rope swing to take a dip. However, there are signs warning against swimming due to bacteria. Mornings are best before the sun starts to bake or late afternoons. Be sure to bring water and a snack. And there are no restrooms along the trail.

Well, the "shop" is actually a small trailer beside their lanai, which they were busy setting up for lunch for their farm workers. How cool was that? I don't think anyone is supposed to be there when there is no Tea Tasting Event, but they were gracious enough to accomodate us and even allowed us to buy tea drinks. Like they made it for us and served it! I might have ruined it for everyone else now though and they will make sure that they are closed outside of the event times. Sorry! The LOVE POTION TEA was weirdly soothing. Felt like I was wrapped in a blanket indoors looking out of a window on a rainy day. The TROPICAL HIBISCUS felt like I was in a tropical island. Oh wait... Anyway, I love how I couldn't really pinpoint the flavors, but the feelings the tea evoked is clear. Tasted, and bought, some honeys too. Interesting take on the honeys. They had spices and nuts so they were more like marmalades that honeys that you could add to your teas. The garden is beautiful. There is limited parking, but it's surrounded by beautiful greeneries, fruits and flowering plants. It was a beautiful outing for sure.

Almost like a sarcastic response. No explanation, apology or even acknowledgment. The order finally arrived on June 10th. Ridiculous. I won't order from them again and I recommend anyone searching for organic, home grown products to try Homegrownherbalist.net. Dr Patrick Jones has lots of yt vids explaining all kinds of herbs and he grows tons of stuff on his property in Idaho. All organic and harvested at the perfect time. I like blue cheese but this was not good fresh, on its own. It needed some dried cranberries and walnuts to accompany it. Apparently after harvesting, it takes two days to ripen before it becomes soft like a tomato. Once ripe, the company has between 2-4 hours to process the fruit before it begins to ferment. Because it's impossible to sell such a finicky fruit in stores, they dehydrate it into a fruit leather. According to the owner, commercial freeze dried products have to first receive a heat treatment that would basically cook the fruit, destroying its nutrients, which is why they chose dehydration. The tour (which you must preschedule via their realnoni website) that we went on was nearly 3 hours and was very informative about everything from organic gardening and vermicomposting, to the breeding habits of the albatross that live on a cliff under their 70 acre farm overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The tour was fantastic. One caveat - My BS censors go off when chiropractors are mentioned in the same sentence as medical doctors, physical therapists and kinesiologists. There were a lot of fantastical claims about how this fruit can address the root causes of everything from eczema to damaged cartilage, cancers, autoimmune disorders to damaged Achilles tendons. You can always find a doctor or two that will cosign literally any claim out there, so the fact they had articles by a few random doctors and University of Hawaii sports medicine doctor praising their products has not swayed me. While I'm open to trying new things, inherently I'm a highly skeptical and cynical person when it comes to alt-medicine. There is just too much woo out there. While I'm not sold on the sounds-too-good-to-be-true claims of what this fruit can supposedly do, we bought an 8 ounce lavender lotion ($28) and a packet of the fruit leather ($30.) We feel like if the tour doesn't charge and we enjoyed the tour, it's polite to purchase something. We'll see if it works.

Now I originally was aghast that a botanical garden tour was this expensive, but after doing it, I think it's actually well worth the price. This isn't one of those gardens you can just walk in and wander around - it's guided tours only with staff. Pros: - Probably the most entertaining and varied botanical garden tour I've ever done, complete with a chocolate tasting sit-down learning experience with the guides. - It's BEAUTIFUL - and doubles as a leisurely hike if you're very able-bodied. It felt like a very HAWAII experience given the lush greenery, the number of new plants I had never seen before, and fun facts about Kauai and this specific botanical garden. - There's different "stops" on the tour where you'll get to try more uncommon fruits and bites (we had longan, rambutan, apple banana, sugarcane plant, and this really delicious honey!!) and you get to try a cacao fruit (which tastes nothing like chocolate lol) - they provide organic herbal bug spray if you don't bring your own - Pretty easy to find, the staff were super communicative beforehand via email and text with directions - Our tour guide Lauren was super knowledgeable and answered all our questions kindly, even when she was visibly quite pregnant! I was impressed at her stamina - I personally liked that it was a pretty "active" tour, where you hike across a bridge, uphill a bit, etc. You should definitely wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, because the dirt can get pretty wet if it rains. I wore hiking pants and hiking shoes and felt pretty comfortable, and I felt sorry for people who came in sandals - The chocolate tasting was really unique - we got to try their in-house chocolate that had notes of cinnamon - and they said that it was a cinnamon tree in their grove where water would pass that gave it this flavor! - They also provide walking sticks and umbrellas for people if you want them - Reservation only, online booking in advance - I think this preserves the magical vibe of this nature-y place and keeps the quality of the service high - The staff clearly love and care about what they do, which is very refreshing to see! Cons: - It can be pretty strenuous if you are elderly or have orthopedic issues.
